Staff were lovely, the room itself was really comfortable and spacious with a great bathroom and very clean. Nice touch to have a little fridge for milk, water and our own drinks. Great breakfast too
Nothing!

The decor of the hotel is fantastic. It has a very opulent feel to it.
Bar staff friendly.
Difficult access with a pushchair. Although there is a lift to enter the property you have to wait for a member of staff to come and operate the lift.
Also, I requested a room with appropriate pushchair access three times on the phone prior to attending the hotel, I was reassured we would have a suitable room. We got out of the lift on the 5th floor and there was a further five steps down to the room we had been allocated. We had to lift the pushchair a lot up and down stairs. Which is fine when you are fit and able but this may not work for everyone.
Also, someone tried to enter our room late at night that had been given the key card with our room number on. We told the lady at check out who couldn’t care less and said she would raise it with the manager.
Breakfast was absolute chaos one morning, there was too many people in the breakfast room. Long waits for service and it felt like we were being an inconvenience asking for a Cappuchino- not a five start breakfast!

Attended 40yr reunion banquet Hall fab.
Arrived very early but had room available.
Location is perfect very quiet though in a busy area.
Room was lovely everything you needed. Though no parking there is a secure carpark very close. In check out let staff know if you parked there to get discount
Slightly high price however it does reflect the quality of service and area. Otherwise nothing

Staff wonderful and friendly. Bed comfortable . Everything clean
Friend stayed night previous and we changed rooms as she didn’t sleep due to noisy vents outside window
Wine overpriced

The renovation on the hotel is beautiful! Rooms are lovely and the lounge bar has a great atmosphere. Location is great!
We were there for a charity ball and it was a fabulous night.
Nothing!

Excellent location within 5 minutes walk from New Street Station and within easy access of all part of Birmingham. Lovely, comfortable, spacious, quiet room with complimentary coffee, water and chocolate! Staff were usually very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a beautiful staircase and the bar area is fabulous, so much so that you have to book a table even for a drink! The food in Issacs was reasonably priced and tasty.
Whilst breakfast was good, we perhaps expected better from such an impressive hotel - more 4* than 5*.
The hotel lobby was also rather disappointing- not 'grand' at all - and there was no where for guests to relax outside of the room apart from the bar area.

First impression from the reception area, the bar, the bedroom/bathroom. The refurb job is exceptional. The staircase is breathtaking. Penhaligons soap and hand cream everywhere. We were recommended to have a look at the Ball Room as it wasn't being used - wow! Staff friendly. Good location
We were asked if we would like to upgrade when we arrived as there was a function on the ground floor. The rooms offered would have been another £100. We were staying on the 3rd floor so this was a blatant attempt at upselling! It wasn't offensive, just didn't think it was necessary. It wasn't pushed either.
4.5
The room was spacious, very clean and smelt amazing, the whole hotel smelt amazing
The only things I could say pick up on are like toilet brushes would be nice. I appreciate the fact that someone cleans the rooms everyday but I’d like the option to remove any “marks” from the toilet after use. It would make the experience nicer for the guest and the cleaner.

Lovely period building and decor
4.5
Fabulous location, beautiful interior, friendly helpful staff, lovely breakfast, the Madeleine bar, room decor and the chocolate bars!
General:Only one locking toilet door in the downstairs ladies toilets.
Lightbulb needed replacing by lift doors.
Madeleine bar: Waiter unable to make either breakfast tea or green tea. Twice we were brought pots of tea (we asked for replacement pots because of the strength) which was so strong both times we couldn’t drink it. This wasn’t builders tea it was stew!
Room: Empty tissue box.
No soap or shower gel.
Only Breakfast teabags. No green/mint or herbal options.
Constant noise during the night from outside Room 222. Sounded like deliveries being offloaded.
These may seem petty observations but added together the difference between this stay and previous stays was very noticeable.

Always excellent service
Friendly welcome & beautiful rooms

Size of the room. Great service in the Cocktail bar.
A long way to get to the room. A VERY dark room (701).All black fixed furniture, small windows and very little artificial light.
Breakfast / dining room disappointing. A little like a "cafe".
Tea and Coffee stewed and not very hot.
No where to put a used teaspoon as no saucers with the drinks. Not a real 5 star experience.

Crap because my fried egg was covered in pepper and my wife's vegetarian sausage was absolutely disgusting and inedible
A chef prepared vegetarian breakfast and not bought in disgusting manufactured veggie sausage. Easy to make.

The hotel is great! Rooms are spacious
Not being able to get into the bar without booking. Which is a real shame when you are a paying guest

The hotel was beautiful, very tasteful, staff were attentive and welcoming and the location was excellent.
Booking.com - a rip off and customer service is appalling. I wish I had booked direct with the hotel as they were fabulous.

Fantastic location, great bar, great decor, room was spacious and clean. I requested a park view and this was facilitated which was amazing.
We were unable to get the TV to work properly and when I called down I was told there wasn’t anything that could be done.
4.5
Very nice decor and clean. Great location and comfortable rooms.
The hotel bar is also open to the public and there is no bar for residents only so unfortunately we were unable to grab a drink in the hotel for our entire stay due to it being fully booked which was very disappointing and a little inconvenient. I wish they could’ve told us this information at the point of booking so we could’ve planned ahead.

Location
Have to reserve table in bar also not enough bar staff on in bar downstairs.
4.5
Nice decor, warm welcome and a pleasant surprise to receive a room upgrade!
There was a function on during our stay which meant we were not able to secure a seat at the bar before setting out for dinner.
I had pre-paid for parking at the nominated location but was surprised to learn that, since I had pre paid. the hotel could not apply the 55% discount. This seems odd to me and would expect it to be quite straightforward to apply the discount to the room rate.
In any case the room upgrade more than compensated for this.

Excellent hotel, great location and polite and courteous staff
4.5
Location excellent
Restaurant Isaacs is mediocre, poor room service options.
4.5
The room was cold, reception only had one member of staff, who was also dealing with room service. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy. All in all a bad experience and not worth the money.

Staff were excellent location was great.

Rooms and facilities are good and well maintained. The room service was excellent and great for tired travellers after a long journey.
In the room was water and snacks, proper expresso machine. Bathroom is lovely and I had a great night sleep. The soundproofing and temperature control in the rooms is excellent! Especially as the hotel is situation in city centre!

Beautiful inside and out. Every inch of the Grand is stunning. The staff were really helpful and friendly - reception, housekeeping and events staff at the National Paralegal Awards we attended. Breakfast was fresh and delicious (so nice to have a La carte at breakfast!). Can’t wait to return.
My friend was disappointed to have only one chocolate bar in a twin room. She asked reception and they kindly brought us one each. Top service!
