There was no heating provided. We had booked one of the more expensive, luxurious room but couldn’t enjoy it as it was so cold. The staff were pleasant but quite condescending. I was promised the heating would come on but it never did. Being warm and cosy seems basic when booking a hotel bedroom.

We stayed two nights
Couldn’t fault the staff for friendliness or help but the room was tired and the shower came out over the edge of the cubicle so had to be mopped up with towels constantly
The bed was very hard
It really wasn’t as nice as the premier inn we stayed at the weekend before
The breakfast was not good either and very unorganised .. no hot plates no mushrooms and no advice given when we arrived as to order the eggs you wanted
Prefer a breakfast served and the toast had to be put through twice

Breakfast was very bad, afternoon food good. Very poor for £137 for one night, very disappointed.

My one night was very enjoyable and relaxing.

Called the hotel and emailed multiple times but there was no answer. Very difficult to reach them when not on site. But the service was good when you're there. I've never stayed a hotel where you could not contact them before arrival.

Room and breakfast were fine. The hotel is quite scruffy and could do with a lick of paint and new flooring. Staff were nice but inexperienced. Breakfast was standard 3*. However the restaurant is insanely overpriced and poor quality. The menu sounds good but every single dish disappointed. Between 4 of us we had a handful of nibbles and 4 mains, one drink each (2 soft) and the bill came to £190! The dishes looked good but were bland and lacking texture. For example the £24 salad had no dressing. Avoid the restaurant - much better options available in the village

Overnight stay, would highly recommend. Exceptionally good value for money. Staff go out of their way to be helpful. Rooms clean and fresh with added touches which even more expensive hotels have stopped providing. Evening meal was great. Breakfast could have done with more than one server, food not topped up sufficiently quickly, but would still give 10/10

We were in room 25, due to the walkway on the floor above us, this was a noisy room. Usually late at night or early in the morning when guests were mobile.

Was lovely old building, very relaxed. Near the canal. Tea and coffee in room. Very clean and comfortable
3.9
Beautiful clean friendly hotel. Staff were very good. My radiator was on hot all night & with being on the ground floor i was unable to leave window open. Tv did not work, breakfast was not hot as it wasa buffet could do with having covers over to keep warm
Having said that i would stay there again

I was in the rooms the other side of the hotel room 44 and the room just felt very dated and the floors were all creaking wherever I walked, I know this is an old building but it was poor to be honest.

Excellent

Lovely comfy room and great staff. Aweosme fireplace in lobby bar

Generally a nice hotel, with what would be a nice atmosphere. I think I was unlucky to book on the same night as quite a large Xmas party which over stretched the staff. When I got to the room, it was clean, however the bathroom needs a bit of a revamp, the hot tap was loose, shower had no temp gauge and was very inconsistent with the temperature.
Breakfast was very nice, and the morning staff had things a bit more under control. Nice early start on the breakfast which was appreciated for a business trip.

Lovely old building, nice atmosphere.
Slightly over priced and dinner service was a tad slow.
Nice grounds and pleasant exterior
3.9
Hotel and staff were lovely but the place does need some TLC. Things like usb charging in rooms would be good, no water in room, our cold shower tap didn't work. Breakfast was buffet style but they were overwhelmed on Sunday morning with wedding party. Grounds were lovely. Bed comfy, ok for quick 1 or 2 night stay.
3.9
Good looking hotel, friendly staff, comfy room, breakfast not to my taste felt re-heated
3.9
Very poor customer service, especially the reception. Rooms very small, great distance and up and down stairs. Very bad value for money
3.9
Great hotel, very friendly staff and great food. First time at this hotel and will use it again. Just off the M5 motorway.
3.9
Bad case of
Mildew and damp rooms. Staff friendly but untrained. Would not recommend or return
3.9
Check-in was not great and the bar area is very small. Over priced for what it is.
3.9
Stayed for a wedding and when booking online the price went up when paying on the day. The room was tiny, bed is only a double, certainly not big enough for 2 normal sized adults. The bathroom cleanliness wasn’t great, the shower leaked all over the floor. The bedroom windows were huge and opened into what is already a cramped room, so no room to move. The breakfast wasn’t great and for the price of £180 a night I was expecting a lot more.
3.9
The rooms are clean and I would stay again. I like the backyard, and bar area is comfortable to hang out and have a pint. Overall I enjoyed my stay.
The only complaint I have is the water pressure in the shower. The showers hardly function and need attention.
3.9
The building is in need of renovation. The room was small with little windows not giving enough light. There were no instructions in the room. Decor and furniture were dull and on the whole I felt it was overpriced. The staff were pleasant.

Very nice hotel only down side was the price of the beer also the restraunt was not very well organised had gammon steak with egg the egg was hard and took ages to replace it at breakfast i asked for a fried egg that never came i did ask twice but still i had finished my breakfast and no egg arrived i told the waitress not to bother as i had finished
3.9
Absolutely stunning place and location highly recommend and the evening food was excellent, bit disappointing breakfast would liked to have a choice of eggs as the scrambled eggs were not good , other than that I really enjoyed my stay will definitely be back
3.9
Nice stay, but at breakfast not all the items were available. The waitress said the items had been ordered, but nothing materialised by the time we finished, which was a good half an hour. Other than that we had a pleasant stay.

Parts of hotel were closed for refurbishment. Had dinner - but appeared as the restaurant was closed, and were shown to the hotel lounge/library
Food was below average- with the burger brioche bun served burnt /black!
Despite complaint was charged full price and service charge which was automatically added to final bill but was removed when challenged
Of note - we were the only people eating!! Poor experience and poor value
3.9
Lovely hotel and grounds, friendly staff, spacious room. Room and bathroom was very clean.
3.9
Lovely hotel in a lovely location but the heating in my room broke down when it was -2 outside. The hotel suggested I complain on the booking agent app to allow them to compensate me.
3.9
Stayed for work purposes. Lady on front desk who works split shifts and every department it would seem was fabulous and credit to hotel. Conference area great. Rooms a little tired - otherwise nice place. Food was excellent
3.9
Our room was very small. Bed was comfortable.
Limited choose evening meals, breakfast ok but bacon hard . Bar area good.

After climbing then ascending several stairs to the ground floor we followed the corridor round to look for the rooms. When we reached the garden extension it was a maze of steps up and down. I found our room number 30 and expected my sisters to be next door as requested but that was not the case and they were down and up several sets of stairs and on another level, not ideal again but I could see that the room number layout would not allow us to be together. Pity this was not explained when the booking was made, and we asked for rooms next to each other which we were told would be possible.
We eventually struggled with the luggage to the rooms to unpack and were not offered any assistance.
• There were loads of paint scratches on the entrance room door and inside all the skirting boards were heavily scratched and dirty.
• The curtains were falling off the tracks
• The windowsills were lifting in two places
• There was no decent light over a mirror for me to either dry my hair or do makeup
• No decent light over the bathroom mirror
• There was no separate armchair as shown in the photographs of the hotel
• No bathtub as listed on hotels com
• Cobwebs with spider on bathroom window
• During the week after using the towels they were hard and scratchy
I felt the food was adequate but very overpriced for what we received.
What really bothered me was that the table was sticky.
Inside the hotel was shabby with scratched paint on all the doors. Hotel needs a major upgrade

I stayed for two nights for a family wedding. The hotel is so lovely with lots of character. Every member of stay was extremely friendly and very courteous. The food was lovely and the breakfast was plentiful. The grounds are really well kept and pretty. There is a lovely walk by a nearby canal. The only thing that prevented me from giving top marks was that the furniture in my room needs updating and there are no sockets beside the bed. The bed itself felt as if I was sleeping on a cloud. A great sleep!
3.9
Beautiful building and location, with great views. Good comfort food on the all day brunch menu in a cosy dining room and lounge.
The room was clean, the shower and bed were good.
3.9
Having stayed at the hotel before I was disappointed in the size of the room considering it was 175 per night plus breakfast
Very claustrophobic I felt
Previously our rooms have been much bigger. Otherwise comfortable
3.9
Helpful and friendly staff, a delightful stay in a comfortable room in the main house. Delicious evening meals….the best lamb I have ever eaten
3.9
Very pleasantly surprised by the quality for money paid. All excellent, no complaints at all.
3.9
The hotel was very pleasing and the staff friendly and coped despite the heat!.
The only downside was the limited dinner menu - the same every night - and the slowness of the service - 40 minutes for the first course to arrive.
3.9
We enjoyed our two night stay at the Stonehouse Court. Our room was large, nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable.
