About this cottage rental
This contemporary two story addition floats like a tree house among apple trees. All the amenities of a hotel, but the feeling of your own home, surrounded by art from the 19th to 21st centuries (we are collectors and artists ourselves), on two acres with perennial gardens filled with foxglove, delphinium, sunflowers, dahlias, tulips and more overlooking a wetland: private entrance, deck, grill, huge hot tub (shared) with expansive backyard and woods, Streaming TV, 500 Mbps Mesh Wifi, access to a canoe and kayak, efficiency kitchen, and all the quiet you can imagine. My husband and I occupy the main house to which this addition is attached, but the split level space is completely your own and not shared. Come enjoy the Foodie haven of Portland, Maine and the quiet elegance of rural living. Come to write your next novel or just get away. We are a 5 minute drive to downtown Portland and all the local beaches; as well as numerous woods walks and beach walks walking distance from our home. Bring your bike and paddle board, or borrow our canoe and kayak.
Book your dinner reservations in Portland, and your sleeping accommodations in the Artist's Tree House. Please note the kitchen is an efficiency kitchen. We have an induction hot plate, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven and outdoor grill, but the kitchen is small. No dishwasher. No clothes washer or dryer. For wonderful, more extensive meals we suggest these great local restaurants: Leeward, Central Provisions, Twelve, Isa, Street and Co, Terlingua, Bao Bao, Davids 388, Fore Street, Regards, Bar Futo, Eventide Oysters, Izakaya Minato, Duckfat and Miyake--to name a few!

The location and environment were ideal, access to the beach and to Portland and away from the summer crowds contributed to our restorative time in Cape Elizabeth. Our interactions with Brian were warm and kind and the space itself romantic and full of an artist's touch. The beauty of the space and it's surrounds were only made more complete with the presence of Charlotte, Jane and Elizabeth, pet geese . This is truly a special place. Carol and Fred

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this property and the kind couple who hosted us. Brian was exceptionally kind and helpful to get us settled in the space. The garden and general scenery were so well cared for - a treat to be a guest! Everything about the lodging was so intentional and thoughtful. We loved being so close to all the things but on a sweet & quiet street.

My wife and I had the best time here. It was so close to all of the most beautiful places in Portland. Very quiet and relaxing. Everything you could want from Maine!! Brain was an awesome host and gave us the best recommendations for dinning and site seeing.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Brian and Jocelyn's property. The listing is exactly as described, and we enjoyed using the grill and the hot tub. The gardens are beautiful, and we loved seeing the geese greet us by our car. Although it was getting hot outside, we remained completely comfortable opening the bedroom windows at night; we barely used the AC provided. Some great local places are nearby- I recommend Red's Dairy Freeze for some delicious soft serve. This location is ideal for day trips as we explored Portland, Kennebunkport, Freeport, and Boothbay. Brian went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and gave us some excellent suggestions on local beaches. Thank you, Brian and Jocelyn!

We were met by Brian and given a tour of the gardens and the ‘tree house’ space we were staying in. The gardens were beautiful and gave the space a private feeling. The tree house was unique and well equipped. It was a comfortable resting place for two! Brian also gave us great information about where to go in Cape Elizabeth (beaches, restaurants etc). And Portland is very close, about 15 minutes away. We would love to stay here again on our next visit to Portland.

This property was just what we were looking for! Absolutely stunning garden and outdoor space. The guesthouse had everything we needed for a 5 day trip. Brian was such a wonderful host and had many recommendations for us for the nearby area. It was a quick drive to the beach and also into Portland, which was super convenient! Definitely recommend this stay!!!

Brian reached out to us while we were still traveling to let us know how things would be when we arrived, and met up with us later that evening. We truly enjoyed the area, and loved exploring. It was our 1st time in Maine. We saw so many beautiful places from Ft. Williams and the lighthouse to Wolfe's Neck Park in Freeport. The ferry ride to Peaks Island and the bike ride around were amazing. Maine is so beautiful. We will definitely be back.

What an enjoyable and relaxing respite! The location was quiet & private but a quick drive to restaurants, sites & attractions. Best of both worlds. Our host (Brian) was friendly and gracious. He made sure we had everything we needed and was a joy to talk to. This property is definitely worth returning to!

The space was pristine, comfortable and the kitchenette and sitting area amenities were perfect. Although adjacent to the owner property it is very private and secluded. The art displayed within is like staying in a gallery. The loft bedroom is very cozy with blackout shades and a nice bed and bedding. Close to everything in a beautiful Cape Elizabeth neighborhood near Ft Williams and the Portland Head Light and minutes from downtown Portland. We enjoyed our stay very much and will certainly return.

My friend and I stayed in the Tree House for a reunion weekend and had a great time! The location of Brian’s property was perfect for exploring, hiking and having a very nice space to come back to at the end of the day! Brian was fantastic with communication, recommendations and ensuring we felt welcome. Highly recommend booking this spot!

Pros: location location location. It is outside of the city but less than a mile from Fort Williams park and easy driving to other amazing scenic areas. We were looking for country vibe and we found it. Plus I felt safe on some morning runs.
TV options. After a long day of exploring to be able to come back and watch a movie was a way to wind down. Brian offers multiple different subscription options to choose from.
Amenities. The kitchen is just a counter, but the amenities available are fresh and new. We love to cook and used either the grill, toaster, or hot plate daily. I also very much enjoyed the coffee maker and nespresso options in the morning.
Host. Brian was very friendly and provided us with wonderful sightseeing activities. We never would have had the amazing experience without him.
Con: no freezer. Kind of a bummer to buy ice daily.
Privacy. At first appears not private with all the windows. However! Brian and his family do not disturb.

Great location. Clean room. Good accommodations. We picked up a few groceries and ate breakfast there every morning. I would recommend this place to anyone that can handle a few steps.

From the minute you step foot onto the property, you can feel the love and care that has surrounded the grounds . The Dalias , sunflower, thistle, lilacs, and daisies ,bloom in an array of color. Apples blueberries and blackberries were bountiful and offered by the host , Bryan .
My friend and I grew up in Cale Elizabeth and came back for our 50 HS reunion. We loved being able to stay in Cape Elizabeth, 5 minutes from the most photographed lighthouse in the world, first commissioned by George Washington, The Portland Headlight and Fort Williams offer a myriad of walking paths , a beach , picnic tables , food trucks, a gift shop and museum. Two lights and The Lobster Shack are close by as is Crescent Beach State Park .
This property is 15 minutes from Portland and the bustling Old Port area known for its incredible restaurants, shops , bars and music . The East and Western Promenade's views are breathtaking and only a 10 min drive .
The geese welcome you as you come and go and the 3 dogs on the property are incredibly friendly and well behaved.
Everything was delightful. Sitting on the deck enjoying some Nespresso Coffee in the morning, meditating under the oldest apple- tree named” Grandma” and relaxing in the hot tub after a long day made us fall in love with “ Dragon-Fly Farm “ . We hated to leave ….and so will you .

Did not stay here after finding out the house was an addition attached to the owner's home. We had no privacy.

Such a beautiful and serene spot, comfortable & cozy, with incredibly easy access to Portland and the Cape Elizabeth walks and beaches. We especially appreciated the Dragonfly Farm write-up for all things to see and do and Brian's warmth and availability. Would highly recommend!

We can't say enough good things about our time at this location. The location is perfect. About 10-12 minutes to downtown Portland but still felt like you were out in the country. The property is gorgeous. From the beautiful flower garden, the majestic old fruit trees, and the singing sparrows, it was just all a dream. The space itself is everything you need. Great bed, comfy couch, great view out of the living room. The hot tub was very nice the first night to relax after traveling. Brian the host is easily one of the best we have ever dealt with while traveling. He was so easy to talk to and couldn't have been more accommodating. We are already talking about going back again soon.

Quiet and private location that is near all South Portland has to offer. Pet friendly with plenty of places to walk your dog with the added benefit of being able to play with the owner’s dogs if you like. The kitchen is small as stated but manageable, the bathroom is spacious, and the bedroom is plenty big with a super comfortable bed. One added benefit is a pair of geese named Charlotte and Catherine that greet you when you come and go.
