About this cottage rental
As you wend your way along the hedgerow-lined lanes leading to the quiet hamlet of Harescombe and Owls Nest, you will feel as though you are miles from anywhere. There are, however, a multitude of attractions within easy reach, and so although the setting is blissfully bucolic, everything you need is close at hand. The farmyard is a rural reminder of your location on this family farm, but within the pale Cotswold stone walls of the barn, you'll find a beautifully finished, warm, and welcoming place to stay.
The rustic, covered courtyard provides a sheltered space for parking as well as an all-weather area to enjoy. The simple lines of the barn belie the attention to detail and as you step inside, you'll find a beautiful kitchen, dining area and a comfortable living room with a cosy log burner in one corner. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor, offering flexible sleeping arrangements. Upstairs are two further bedrooms and bathrooms. The style and décor are light and contemporary, offering a delightful, modern feel, in this most rural of locations.
Outside space comes in the form of the clever use of the covered courtyard. There’s outside seating, a ping pong table and festoon lighting were you can relax with a drink after a day of exploring listening to the birds singing and the cows gently grazing across the lane. Keen fishermen and women will enjoy the easy access to the Harescombe Fisheries, which form part of the farm and sit at the top of the valley. There is covered parking for 4 cars.
Ground Floor
Guests enter through the covered courtyard and there are steps up from the decking to the door.
Kitchen/Diner:
Pale stone flooring and pale walls all add to the sense of light and space. The hub of this lovely barn is the gorgeous kitchen with everything practical needed for a self-catering stay including a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and microwave. The budding Nigella's or Jamie Oliver's in your group can whip up wonderful meals to be enjoyed at the large farmhouse table, which seats 10 comfortably. It's a wonderfully sociable space to gather.
Living Room:
The far end of the barn forms the living room which boasts windows on either side. Two plump sofas and a comfortable armchair provide plenty of seating, whilst in the corner is a wood-burning stove. Bedroom Three:
This lovely bedroom boasts high vaulted ceilings, and lots of natural light from the window, which overlooks the lane beyond, and the Velux. We stayed at Owls Nest Barn (on brook Farm) near Gloucester and the house was absolutely wonderful. Everything looked brand new, beautiful big kitchen diner and flowing through to the spacious lounge area. 4 huge bedrooms with lovely comfy beds and bathrooms. Immaculately clean. David the host was so helpful and took time to show us around the farm. Useful outside area under cover with seating, and table tennis (and bbq but we did not use). A really wonderful place to stay.

Owls Nest Barn is a fabulous place to stay. Located in the middle of the countryside you are still only 10/15 minutes away from Stroud and Gloucester making it a perfect spot. The barn has been converted to such a high spec with lots of details thought of for a stay for 9. Amazing kitchen meant eating out wasn't always necessary which was appreciated when there are so many of us and the use of an amazing BBQ made for a lovely evening meal one night. David, Martyn and Claire made us feel unbelievably welcome as well as the rest of the farm staff and family. Having 4 bathrooms was brilliant as well as the extra downstairs cloakroom. The table tennis table got a lot of use and our evening strolls took us round the area to explore. I couldn't recommend this rental more highly and wish them all the best for their future.

Owl’s Nest was the perfect family getaway retreat. Stocked with everything you could possibly need, it was a fantastic break. The sounds of cows and swallows woke us up each day and there was space for all 9 of us to spread out. A great stay, we would love to be back.

This is a beautifully designed and well appointed converted farm building, well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious and light and tastefully furnished. The owners gave us a warm welcome and were easily contactable if we needed them. A delicious homemade lemon drizzle cake on arrival hit the spot. The surrounding countryside is really peaceful and it was lovely to observe the cows arriving for milking each day but many Cotswold attractions are within easy reach.

We had an absolutely brilliant stay at Owls Nest Barn last weekend. David was very helpful from the moment we made contact and was really kind through the booking process. When we arrived the house was stocked with all the essentials including milk, cake and bread! A lovely touch. Everything in the house had just been kitted out with the most up to date appliances and had been done to a very high spec. David came to show us how to use the lights, electric blinds and various other things to make our stay really special. The beds were incredible, bedding lovely, showers clean and powerful. We had no trouble with running low on hot water or not being able to use anything. There wasn't a single complaint all weekend and everyone had a brilliant time. Thank you so much.

We had a fantastic stay at Owls nest farm. The photos do not show how stunning this property is. it's very new, immaculate, done to such a high standard. Beds super comfy, high quality furniture. Showers excellent. Enough seating for everyone round a beautiful large kitchen table. Comfortable seating in loung for us all. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely welcome gifts, delicious homemade lemon drizzle, bread and milk. Table tennis was a hit in the courtyard under the old calf shed. Beautiful decking/sestubg area.perfect space for a friends catch up of 3 couples and 3 children. Great location to explore Cotswolds. It is a working farm which the children found very exciting. Outdoor space to play in courtyard but not enclosed to allow for parking. David and his family were very welcoming and communication was great. They even let us check out late which was greatly appreciated. We'd love to stay again.
