My stay was beyond wonderful! The check in and main sitting area are so bright and welcoming. My room and attached bathroom were perfect perfect for one person, bed was so comfortable, location was great, wonderful staff and kitchen area, and restaurant next door is exceptional!

Sehr modern und mitten im Zenteum der Stadt

Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war nicht so gegeben. Auch wenn ich ein Einzelzimmer hatte, waren 30€ für ein kleines 90cm Bett etwas zu viel. Hier hätten es 10€ weniger auch getan

Exceptional!

Everything! First and foremost you can’t beat the convenience of the location. Attached to the property is a Mediterranean Cafe with excellent food and below it is a Sushi Bar. Because Monteverde’s weather is sporadic at best in the rainy season, I can’t overstate the convenience of having good food and reasonably priced drinks right next door. The trees between the properties made it so I barely got wet no matter how hard it rained. My interactions with every staff member from the cleaning crew of the property to the bartender at the Sushi bar were perfect examples of service and courtesy. That being said, Tatiana, whom I had the most exposure to at Outbox Inn was exceptionally accommodating and delightful. My first day I had a lot of questions and despite the fact Tatiana was dealing with forty other things she bent over backwards to make sure all my needs were met, and never with frustration or attitude. While Tatiana wasn’t available I had the pleasure of dealing with John. John was also remarkably friendly and saw to it that my every request was met. Another extremely convenient factor was their ability to schedule all my transportation and excisions for me, and often at lower prices than other agents around town. I strongly recommend Outbox Inn! I will certainly be staying there on my next trip to Monteverde.

Leuk studenten cq backpackers hotel.

Het is een leuk hotel, maar een echt studenten cq back Packers hotel. Wij waren met zn zessen wel een beetje "oud" daar, hahaha. De kamers waren prima, basic. Het leuke was wel, dat er ochtends door wie dan ook een grote pot koffie gezet werd, en dat iedereen daarvan kon pakken. Ontbijt ed zelf regelen. Koelkast aanwezig.

Chill & Relax

Das Konzept ist toll, der offene Gemeinschaftsbereich, die Terrasse. Nebenan sind das Restaurant und die Bar, die eigenständig sind, aber dem gleichen Besitzer gehören. Man kann überall wunderbar relaxen. Das Essen und die Getränke sind superlecker. Auf der Terrasse des Inns kann man aber auch selber kochen. Das Personal ist supernett und hilfsbereit. Das Bett war gemütlich. Wir haben den Wäscheservice genutzt - gut, günstig, schnell.

In unserem Zimmer (privat mit eigenem Bad) gab leider kaum Ablagemöglichkeiten, nur 2 Wandhaken und ein kleines Brett.

Gezellige, gezamenlijke plek om te relaxen. Ook een heerlijke douche.

We vonden het vrij prijzig voor een hostel vergeleken met andere accomodaties.

Funktionelle Übernachtung in guter Lage

Gute Lage, großes Zimmer ! Außerdem nettes wirklich gutes Restaurant gleich nebenan, bei dem Gäste 10% Rabatt erhalten

Badezimmer mit wenig Licht; Waschbecken ohne Steckdose und nur kaltem Wasser. Zimmer waren groß, aber ohne Trinkgläser, ohne Kühlschrank.

Good location, amazing staff but very noisy

Amazing staff and great location. Good value for money.

Very noisy. Especially noise from the street. Haven’t tried anything like it before. If you’re not noise sensitive it’s a great place.

Gutes Hostel mit winzigen Doppelzimmern

Das Hostel hatte eine Top Lage und auch das dazugehörige Restaurant serviert gutes Frühstück und Abendessen. Der Chef packt hier noch selbst an wenn die Mitarbeiter nicht können oder wollen.

Man darf in einem Hostel nicht allzu viel Komfort erwarten, aber die Doppelzimmer waren kleiner als die wir aus Tokio kannten. Die freie Bodenfläche reichte gerade aus um einen Koffer zu öffnen.

Propre, confortable et bien situé :))

Auberge de jeunesse très bien situé au centre de Santa Elena. J’avais une chambre seule qui était très propre et confortable. Le personnel était souriant et très serviable ! Je recommande vivement cette auberge, pas de mauvaise surprise. En plus c’est très beau et moderne avec une cuisine en plein air dans la jungle :)

Mooie gemeenschappelijke ruimte met lekkere zitzakken. Leuk barretje buiten met uitzicht over de bomen. Locatie in het centrumpje naast 2 leuke restaurants.

Great jungle hostel in the city

Really nice hostel with a jungle in front of the place where you can see hummingbirds and the staff is super friendly.

The showers do not have warm water so it can get cold depending on the weather.

Good value for dorm like rooms.

We booked the family room which held the five of us very well. However it is a lower ground room so felt a bit bunker like. The shared facilities were great with a nice little balcony outside. It is in the centre of town so close to all amenities but with this inevitably comes road noise.

The location is perfect, right in the center of Santa Elena. The common areas are really cosy. The room was very confortable and clean.

I loved the area and the hostel - the kitchen is small but nice and the terrace is beautiful to sit on. Had a good time at OutBox Inn. The staff was super helpful with booking tours and shuttles.

I would have liked a Spot to hang clothes / towels to dry as it is raining quite a lot in Monteverde and you might need that.

This was a beautiful location and beautiful facilities; the outdoor kitchen was wonderful. The best part of my stay however was the staff! I'm especially thankful to Alex and Tati for their constant help, advice and warm presence. They were incredibly welcoming and made me feel at home. I was originally going to stay for 4 nights only, and ended up staying for 6 and still didn't want to leave. Highly recommend coming here if you want to visit Santa Elena/Monteverde.

Peaceful warm oasis in Monteverde

This is my favorite hostel I have ever stayed at—and I backpacked through SE Asia. And this is one of my only reviews. I care enough to write this review because I want anyone who is traveling to Santa Elena/visiting Monteverde to save themselves the hassle and stay at Outbox. It’s THE best hostel in town—verified fact because I had a few friends I had met earlier in my traveling journey stay at other hostels in Santa Elena switch to Outbox. What I love: the COZIEST mattresses with the softest blankets, the aesthetic of the main space with its high ceilings/plants/local artwork/big windows that let in loads of natural light, the outdoor kitchen space makes you feel like you’re cooking in the jungle and it’s well maintained, but most importantly the lovely lovely lovely humans who work at this hostel—especially Alex…they were all so friendly, warm, and gave excellent advice. Please do yourself the favor and book your Santa Elena stay here.

WOW

I loved lovee LOVED it ! One of the best hostel I have been to. It is nice, clean, has everything you need, it is organized, cosy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location also was wonderful as I didn’t have a car. would recommend 100% and thanks for everything !

For the price a comfortable stay

Helpful, friendly staff. The shared open lounge space was really nice. Comfy bed. Good location if you want to be in the heart of Santa Elena.

My room was near reception, so there was some noise in the evenings trying to sleep. There was also very loud music playing from somewhere nearby the hostel till very late, maybe 2am for a couple of nights of my stay (Thurs and Fri night) The floor of my room was painted with grey paint that ended up coming off the floor sticking to my feet after I showered.. took my ages to remove and still on my socks actually.

A bit too basic for the price, but it's OK for 1 night.

Friendly staff and good location with many restaurants around. The rooms are very basic, but provide all that you need for one night stay. It's getting cold during the night (beginning of March), so either request additional blanket or ask for a heater in your room.

Great staff and central location

Jose, the receptionist, was so friendly and welcoming. We asked him about tours and he recommended the best ones. He helped us to reserve the excursions, so that once we got to the location, all we had to do was pay. He was available from 7am to 9pm, and was so helpful. The location of OutBox Inn was very central and in middle of town. Close to everything!

The location of OutBox Inn was very central and in middle of town. For that reason, you can hear a lot of passing by traffic. The motorcycles are especially loud. It’s also very windy in Monteverde, so at night, it sounds like the building will get blown away. It was hard to sleep. The WIFI did not work in the rooms furthest away from reception. Our room (#7) didn't have any WIFI, unfortunately.
