My friends and I had a thoroughly enjoyable two night stay here. The house is large and could accommodate the five of us with ease.
We also appreciated the nearby walks and brewery. We will likely look to book again.

I treated my son who had disabilities to a weekend here for his 18th birthday, 4 of his friends also joined us.
We had a wonderful time, the house was easy for him to walk around and had a large shower that we could put a shower stool in. The house is clean and very well presented. The kitchen is very well equipped. There were plenty of logs, kindling and matches.
The house is super warm. There were cleaning products and a great welcome pack.
I would love to return again to celebrate another occasion. We could only be a party of six but the place is ideal for large parties.
Would highly recommend.

We had such a fantastic week at Lumsdale House with my family and my parents.
We had such a fantastic week at Lumsdale House with my family and my parents. Beautiful grounds and so much space in the house! The welcome pack was a bonus too. Great base for exploring the Derbyshire Dales. What stops this being a truly excellent holiday home was a that the kitchen could be so much better equipped and the inside furniture is uncomfortable. Maybe it is Covid precautions but it's a shame because it wouldn't take much to restore to former glory! It didn't stop us having a really memorable holiday.

We had a fantastic time at Lumsdale House.
We had a fantastic time at Lumsdale House. The pictures do not do justice as to quite how spacious the house is and our group of 9 was very comfortable. Everyone was so in awe of the house when they arrived and the beautiful sunshine that we had made it look like a picture postcard. We had everything that we needed and such an easy check-in. Will certainly recommend as a beautiful and very affordable place for a group to stay.

Gorgeous House handy for Matlock area
Arrived following detailed instructions given by friendly owner. (Note black gates may appear green with mossy covering.) Welcome pack meant we could relax before heading out to shop. Lovely 1790s House is tasteful, well equipped and very clean. All the rooms are spacious and there lots of communal areas for people to relax in. The garden is beautiful and we would have spent much more time in it if weather was better. Although not far, we drove into Matlock as the trip back involves a never ending steady climb before arriving at the house in a quiet dip. Great base for Matlocks, Chatsworth and surrounding area. We would highly recommend this property for any group of family or friends.

Lumsdale House is a beautiful house in a lovely location.
Lumsdale House is a beautiful house in a lovely location. On the whole the property was well equipped and clean. Towels, bedding, kitchen and bathrooms were spotless but some carpets and upholstery were less so and some of the pans and glasses needed a wash before use. Some minor irritations e.g. no coffee maker of any sort, no kitchen roll or clothes detergent, CD player not working.
The property is ideal for adults and the children loved the space and numerous rooms for hide-and-seek , but the uncarpeted stairs and unfenced ponds are not child friendly. Parents can obviously monitor these dangers but we were not impressed to discover by accident that the boat house ground-level windows pushed open very easily and gave onto a significant and dangerous drop.
It is a shame that these shortcomings took the edge off an otherwise excellent experience. Both the house and surroundings are stunning and we would have been happy to stay longer.
