Hardly a warm welcome, and definitely not customer service focused. Usually hotel receptionists seem cheerful and welcoming. Loud music and noise from a significant amount of young people from downstairs in the early evening meant that I couldn’t settle after an exhausting day, so I felt it best to leave. Due to the atmosphere and combined with the indifferent reception, I didn’t feel comfortable in speaking about it. When I checked out early I wasn’t even asked why.

I choose it as I knew the property well as I was born only a stone throw away I remember it when it was a farm that kept pigs it was a shame that they have built so many houses that was beautiful country side I suppose that’s progress the bathroom could do with an update
I was noisy and had a naff bathroom o

that we only used it for the night, shower and gone. but towels changed every day, cleaned the room every day, little gifts.
yeah, the staff is okay.
nice people
bathroom sink taps. how is this still a thing and only in U.K.? two separate taps one too hot and the other cold. how do i use it? at least let the hot one to a minimum level of temperature so you can wash teeth and face... i don't think i should fill the sink with water and wash my teethes with that water.
no where to hang-keep your clothes unless you want to iron them every day.

There is plenty of free parking and the location was perfect, away from the busy centre of town, but all the local facilities within easy walking distance. Great value, and I was expecting a single bed, but was allocated a room with a double bed. It looks like the corridors to the rooms were recently decorated in a fresh modern way. The room could do with a little freshening up, but it was clean and comfortable. I was worried about the noise from the pub disturbing me in my room, especially as I stayed on a Friday and Saturday nights, but it wasn't an issue. The higher numbered rooms seem to be the quieter ones. There was a bit of noise from the beer garden as I had my windows open, but it did not disturb me. There is no breakfast on offer, but there are plenty of places in town. For dinner I would recommend Amici Italian Restaurant, and for breakfast I would recommend Woodies, both in the centre of Blackwood. I would not hesitate to return if I am in the area again.

Bar closing at 10-30pm, otherwise an enjoyable stay

Enjoyed our stay, like the little smoking area and beer garden. Lovely weather first night second night chilled so not too bothered.
Chicken wings did not agree with me very well.

The property sits in an ideal location to Blackwood and the surrounding environs. It had clean linen.
Room was situated over the beer garden and smelled of cigarette smoke. On arrival the check in was slow and could have been better. Room was ok however, there was no radiator in the bathroom and only a rail which covered the tv to hang clothes on. The shower door was fitted for someone who is extremely thin and uncomfortable to get in and out of it.
We ate there and two out of three meals were good. The steak and ale pie was awful. Meat was still frozen and Gravy presented in a lump form. No offer of a refund after I mentioned it to the bar staff. Staff need to be managed better as there was lots of chatting behind the bar and little help to those trying to serve a hot meal.

The room and bed and bathroom.

The room was excellent value for money. Considering it was above a very busy pub it was really quiet, we couldn't hear a thing!
It was warm and cosy after a cold evening at the rugby, just what we needed.
No breakfast facilities but plenty of tea and coffee in the room to keep us going until we found somewhere for breakfast.
I would definitely use again and recommend a stay.

I like the modern rooms and the cleanliness. the staff were also really lovely despite how busy it was they still made time to answer question I had and help in any way they could
I didn’t like that there was no warning on the road about the steepness of the ramp to get it the car park. this ramp/road area was badly lit and due to h this I nearly burnt out my clutch on my car. more warning and more lighting please. and the car park was so full from pub goers.

The fan in the bathroom was really noisey making it hard to sleep. I did have to switch it off on the Cieling but put it back on in the morning. Not an issue though

Loved our stay we were more than happy with the hotel and staff were run off their feet with seeing to wedding guests and still had time to give us a warm welcome our room was clean really comfy bed I thought the choice of having Netflix or any other app was on TV so it felt like you were back home there was everything you needed and more including extra quilts and tea coffee biscuits in the shower there was some goodies like mini shampoo body wash two toilet rolls not just one so for the money I thought it was fantastic and would love to stay at a later day....thank you everyone at the brewers lodge.x
In the bathroom there was these two pipes sticking out where the radiator used to be and that was a bit disappointing really but I don't think it was the hotels fault more to do with the faulty Plummer from faulty towers maybe think about employing one from somewhere else... Very shoddy workmanship....

Room had everything you needed for a one night stay.
Lots of load foul mouthed customers in the bar. Even when a few couples having meals there was locals chatting with bar staff using bad language.

The Staff is very nice, they are helping in each question you make and every time with a smile, the rooms are clean. You can eat for dinner and have a drink just downstairs.
I would recommend this place as we felt at home and the Staff was always nice (we also had a problem with the wheel of our car and we had immediate assistance also in this situation...thank you again!!😍).
We would surely come back next time when we will be back in the beautiful Galles 🥰🥰🥰
I would suggest to furnish the rooms with fans in case of hot weather like this year.😊
Everything else is perfect.
