The room was lovely, housed away from the main building. Cosy and clean and with easy access to the car. Car park a bonus in Woodstock. Staff friendly and professional. Location excellent for visiting Blenheim Palace.
Not a big issue but the WiFi didn't work at times, in the evening. Apparently a problem with the signal related to the area as came across it in the accommodation we stayed in the previous night. Would help to flag that up in case anyone relying on it but we weren't.

Fabulous hotel. Lovely Staff. Great location.
Nothing really

Perfect location for Blenheim Palace.
Sadly the cooked breakfast was bland (apart from the black pudding) and the coffee served was watery and tasteless. Variations on the menu cost an additional £5 surcharge to the existing breakfast charge.
It is an old building and unfortunately that meant that the pipes were knocking all through the night.

This hotel is ideally located for visiting Blenheim Palace, a short walk away.
I think the bedroom was overpriced, I'm not sure if it was because of the events taking place at Blenheim that might have racked up the rate, but I felt it wasn't value for money.

Great location and nice historic building
The room was a bit shabby. Blind very tatty and windows didn’t close properly

I loved the location being so close to the Palace and the village is beautiful

I loved everything about this hotel - it's oldy world, lovely location in heart of Woodstock, and very near Blenheim Palace.
I loved staff - Receptionist who checked me in was very kind to me and gave me lots of local information.
Room lovely and bed / linen very comfortable, bathroom spotless with lovely Elemis toiletries!
Breakfast delicious and staff/service excellent
I couldn't fault this hotel - I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel

Character old England
Had to wait over 45 mins to get breakfast in the restaurant. Several complained

Super staff. Nothing too much trouble.
Lovely area.
Dinner menu a little sparse on choice and quite expensive.

Great location, easy parking. Lovely old building.

The building is attractive and well-placed in this pleasant small town
I booked a wheelchair accessible room. It was only accessible in the sense that I could access it. The bathroom was set up with a bath-tub, wholly useless for a paraplegic. This tub meant that the loo was hard to access, requiring a hard and dangerous to perform 180 degree turn on transferring from the wheelchair to the loo seat.
Overall the staff were pleasant and helpful, but one male member of staff was verging on the rude - needing ordering to help my partner with the luggage in the rain, sneeringly repeating a question she asked (English is not her first language). He's in the wrong job.

The location and setting is beautiful. The hotel is stunning. The bar is well stocked and spaces but devoid of life.
The staff (with the exception of reception) are rude. This really spoiled the stay, and I was looking forward to it.

The cleaning staff - Very helpful and pleasant
They did not appear to do cake and pot of tea anymore and when I asked reception, thinking perhaps the person I asked didn't understand me she didn't know whether they did or not! Breakfast had a few unpleasant surprises such as potato scone actually being a hash brown, my breakfast being forgotten once and on another occasion came with extra things I didn't ask for or want. The young newish breakfast waiter was very nice but had t keep apolgising to guests for this and that.

The location was excellent to explore Woodstock.
The bar area was very small with no tables available for s drink on my arrival. Tiny bathroom and cramped shower.

Beautiful hotel, the receptionist and porter couldn’t do enough for us. Extremely helpful and efficient, highly recommend and would come back.

Great location for Blenheim
Expensive, and slow service at the bar and breakfast

Great location.
The food was ok and there were only two staff working the evening/night shift.

We love staying in Woodstock and have stayed at The Bear many times over the years . We now choose to stay in a suite as we love the space and effectively having a cottage within the hotel.
Customer service is poor. At dinner it was slow and inattentive.
The room had a stained carpet. We stayed two nights and simple things like water and toilet rolls were not replenished for our second night. Receptionist did provide one when requested.
The quality of the food has gone downhill. I chose to have their full English at breakfast as I did not see why I should have to pay a supplement to have something like Eggs Benedict . I regretted this decision due to the hard sausages and half cooked bacon. Dinner was expensive for the quality.

Excellent location 5 minute walk to Blenheim Place gate Woodstock lovely town . Had breakfast in the room very good although some items on the menu missing. Hotel lovely however they seemed to be very under staffed several times had to wait 20 minutes to get a drink in the bar. The staff mon duty were great just not enough of them for the size of the hotel and amount of guests. Bar food menu excellent tasty and fairly priced.
Lack of staff. Drinks over priced. Tried ordering bottle of wine from the wine list twice told had run out.

Breakfast was £26 per person - not the £18 as advertised when booked - stupid expensive
Not paying for a hotel car park

The location
The breakfast was dreadful we arrived at breakfast at 9.40 and it finished at 10.00am - we were told that the fruit bowl could not be filled properly as it was it was nearing end of service - then at 9.45 the allergens table flakes and dried fruit was removed,
Service did not stop until 10am
Then I had Burnt mushrooms overdone bacon and a dry burnt sausage had to send it all back but the second one was dreadful- bacon nearly raw this time.
There was only sourdough bread which was soggy
Staff did not believe we had paid for breakfast within the Booking.com package and we had to get Booking.com to phone hotel

Location was perfect, with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. Room was large and well appointed. Breakfast was good, with lots of choice. Parking was very handy as Woodstock isn't an easy place to park when busy.
Restaurant/Bar it's quite drab and in need of a face lift. Felt very tired. Bar area was not inviting at all. Creaky floor in the room above meant we had disturbed sleep.

I came here for a wedding so the location was perfect for being with other wedding guests and for being picked up.
I finally got the key to my room at 1645. There was no complimentary drink or anything offered while I waited. The staff seemed overwhelmed and not happy. Housekeeping came to my room the following evening at 1830 so I just asked for a fresh towel instead. The room (although charming) was dark and this made it difficult to get ready for the wedding.

Beautiful setting and close to Blenheim Palace
The staff and service was excellent and room was clean and comfortable

We didn’t have breakfast. Up early and back on the road for home. Stopped later for some breakfast
The food menu was a bit pricey and the parking charge was not good
7.0
Nice hotel, very historic. Lovely room. Nice food.
The wifi didn't work well. We had to pay for the car parking, which as it was the hotel car park seemed a little greedy, considering we paid a lot for the room.

Everything was fine, absolutely no complaints, they even upgraded us.
The sausage, you needed a chainsaw to cut it!
5.0
the location was great and the hotel was full of character
some of the staff were quite rude, the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was over priced and not very tasty. when breakfast is included on your room rate you don’t expect a £6 supplement to have avocado and toast!!!
6.0
location , in the centre of Woodstock
it felt tired and in need of some decoration in areas

The evening meal was superb can't fault anything hotel very clean and inviting .
Telling you before hand about paying for parking thought it would be in with the price also maid in morning coming to clean room didn't know you had to pay for that I know for next time

The receptionist was very helpful.
However the bar staff were unhelpful had the kitchen had literally no food to offer for dinner on a Sunday night at 7pm - in spite of a reasonably decent menu.
The breakfast staff were really unfriendly and it took over 45 minutes to serve their breakfast of bacon and eggs - which made me very late.
The bath surroundings had black mould.
6.0
Room was nice - receptionist nice.
great location
Room above -floor creaked and one night the noise was terrible as footsteps walked across loudly.
Breakfast was disappointing- poor quality sausage - not cooked through - waited 40 min
staff at breakfast miserable and led by a not very nice man who reprimanded one of the staff across the dining room
