Traveling is already a giant output of greenhouse gas so I appreciate being able to cool my small sleeping quarters with minimal AC and the cement pipe is very quiet, private, and insulated. Great idea. Love the custom blinds with the magnets. Brilliant.
Only recommendation I have is to add weatherstripping seals to the doors and openings to keep in the cool air (also helps with sound). I also realize I'm totally extreme in my preferences for minimal energy use and waste and not sure their is quite enough niche demand for that degree of ecotourism but you're well on your way if you want to lean into that more! Bunch of bougie virtue signalling eco wannabes but hell, we're out there!

Homemade tortillas made right in front of us! Owner went above and beyond. Very clean bathrooms and a cozy unique experience. Fellow travelers were friendly. Gorgeous property!!
Needed some help with directions to get to restaurants on foot late at night.

Kitchen could have been much more clean!

The location is very nice, a stone's throw from a deserted beach. Wonderful sunset. The girls who prepared breakfast for us were very nice and kind. To get to Tamarindo there are little boats that cross the river until 5 pm. Around noon we were able to walk across the river, while in the evening it is not possible because of the high tide.
As expected the pipes are very small and narrow. I advise everyone to turn on the air conditioning on about 23 degrees. Without air conditioning it is impossible to sleep in these pipes, there is a lack of air and it gets 40 degrees. An okay experience but I would not go back. Comfort = 0.

The uniqueness is fun, shared common area is nice, outdoor gym. It's right off the beach.
I didn't like the location from Tamarindo. It was alright walking distance when the boat across the estuary can take you but if taking a taxi, it's a 40 minute drive all the way around. There were only a few places to eat on that side within walking distance and not much else to do. Wasn't as sound proof as it would look- construction was going on early in the morning all day long and you could hear people talking. It also said there was a bar on site and there was not. It also said it was within walking distance of the airport, it was not, it was over an hour drive to the airport. Also the bathrooms you could see into the opposite sexes bathroom so not very private.

very unique
to expensive for what it is.

Close to beach, good kitchen and relaxing area.
all good, the raccoons were very clever and must have been strong as they managed to get the fridge door open and swiped our food.

The place is lovely and well kept.
Host is really nice and friendly.
9 rooms is the total capacity.
2 showers and 2 toilets for each gender.
Although this looks super close to Tamarindo city center it’s 40’ away by car or a boat ride away for $2 but only until 5pm.
The hostel is inside a national park so a good 10’ to get there by car is offroad and full of potholes.
Only two plugs in the room
No mirror or bin in the room
The room has no walking space, just the bed

The owner was very nice and offered a ton of suggestions for things to do. The outdoor gym is really neat. The rooms are cool and look exactly like they do on the internet. A very "Instagram" type place. Also, other guests gather in the main areas, so it was a cool place to meet people.
No hot water. There's not a whole lot to do in Playa Grande. A lot of the action is in Tamarindo, which looks really close but is actually a 45 min drive away. There is a boat taxis that runs, but only during the day.

I liked everything. Zero dislike it was perfect

nothing to complain about! it was excellent all around!

super cute. clean. great concept. the host was super friendly and helpful.
slightly difficult to manage temperature in the pipe. It is quickly either too warm or too cold (without or with ac)

Amazing host, unique environment, friendly atmosphere, close to beach.
No market close for water or food. Plan ahead.

Beautiful space, close to a great beach, really kind staff, fun workout space.
Would have been nice to have a place to put baggage in the pipe, but that wasn’t a huge issue for us.

The design is nice, the way it is put inside. The area around is amazing. The access to the beach is amazing, very close. It is very secure
The only disadvantage is that being in the pipe is a matter of balance: either too Cold because of A/C or too hot because of no A/C

Very clean, really pretty and comfortable space. perfectly located right on what feels like a private beach. It’s isolated enough to feel very private, but also super easy and fun to access restaurants and cafes as well as Tamarindo with a quick boat taxi over the estuary. The best part of the place was definitely Felipe the host. he made sure everything on our stay was perfect and planned and coordinated everything we could possibly want, from catamaran cruises to shuttles to the airport, and even how to grill up fish bought from fisherman right on the beach in front of the property. His recommendations never missed and the places he booked for us (usually with a discount) were top notch. Highly recommend staying here if just for Filipe.
nothing bad to say

The open air environment to all the common space made for such a nice community feeling- it was so nice to make friends with other guests while there! (If you choose to).
The rooms are super cool in design. Slightly awkward as there is not much space for getting ready, putting your bag, changing, etc… but you make it work and there is plenty of lovely space to hang out outside the room.

Felipe was so great. Really put in effort to connect you to the area and made sure you had everything you needed.
The kitchen was big with high counter tops and lots of fridge space.
I like the space. If people are looking for hot showers or big rooms or close to busy nightlife you'd want something else. Tamarindo boats end at 5 pm so you need to come back early. The rooms have a great bed, though need small bags to fit in the room.
If looking for a simple place to rejuvenate by the beach for a couple days- it's great.

Extremely close to the beach! Basically a stone's throw from Playa Grande. Lovely sunsets, lots of beach relaxing
It was easier than expected to cross the estuary to Tamarindo - just get a water taxi at the mouth of the river (about a 10 minute walk from the hotel).
Layout of the hotel was super unique and very cute! All of the rooms were centered around the kitchen/communal area.
Tons of nature right within the hotel itself, as it's located very close to the national park! Howler monkeys like to swing by every morning, and I saw parrots flying through the courtyard. At night, land crabs are everywhere (they especially like to scare people in the bathrooms). I also caught a glimpse of a coati in the kitchen at night, looking for food!
Air conditioning was super cold, which I definitely needed.
Hotel owner Felipe was very happy to help with any questions. While I didn't need it this time, I believe he can help with surfing lessons, nature tours, and other excursions in the area.
There's basically not a lot of places to get food or buy groceries in the area. I walked 40 minutes to the nearest mini mart (not knowing that I could have just taken the water taxi to Tamarindo).
I ended up going over to Tamarindo for basically everything - lunch, water, sending postcards, souvenirs.
There are no private bathrooms at this property - they're all shared, so just something to keep in mind, especially during Covid times. As expected, sand tends to get everywhere, including in your room, no matter how you try to keep it out.
There is really not a lot of space to store luggage in your room. I was traveling with a carry-on only, and it was a bit annoying to have to drag out my luggage from under the bed, place it on my bed to get stuff out, and then slide it back in.
I wish the curtains were a bit more light and sound proof.
Lock on the door was very janky and I had to spend a lot of time fiddling with it to make it lock. As it was pretty remote, to be totally honest, I just left my door unlocked and open, as I didn't have much with me anyhow.
