Lovely room at side of the pub, was fairly clean (not exceptional, some dust about) but no real complaints, brew tray and good WiFi.Pleasant rest-stop stay - would be good value if food available.
Could have been a little cleaner for not much effort (just needed dusting!) And very disappointed that the pub didn't have any food nor brekkie options and it's a good 10-15 min drive to find food after we arrived, so can't be used as a rest stop as we were without food hunting.

That the room was separate from the pub
Nothing

Nice room, dog friendly, friendly owner
Over powering scented plug in, in the room.
Quite a lot of dog poo in the small garden.
I understand that they couldn't get a chef, but I would have thought that a continental breakfast could have been provided. Self service cereals, toast, pastries, fruit.

No food available at the premises although we were forewarned and hotel gave some very good recommendations of places near by. Location is great and a lovely pub at the side of the accommodation.
Pillow comfort but when travelling you tend to expect the same.

welcoming by host. Pub had good choice of beers. Being able to travel with dog.

This pub is in a small, quiet village which is nevertheless very accessible for all the sights in the area in a car. When I arrived the room felt quite cold but did warm up eventually. When it went off at or soon after 10pm I used the fleece blanket on the bed to keep the chill away. It was comfortable and good enough for my needs. I liked having a kettle, and tea bags and coffee in the room. I paid £5 for a box breakfast, which consisted of juice, and milk in a cool box, 3 small boxes of cereal, a croissant with butter and jam and a banana. There were also two chocolate bar snacks with the tea and coffee. When the hot water eventually came down the pipes to the tap it was warm and the towels were good quality and fluffy. I didn't use the shower as I was only there one night. The room was quiet, although when next door flushed their loo you could hear it surprisingly clearly. The quilt was warm and pillows not too bad and the mattress was reasonably comfy though could benefit from a mattress topper. There was a good full length mirror and a desk and chair if you need it. The tv was small but fine for casual watching. The photos include views of Barnsdale Gardens (former Gardeners World presenter Geoff Hamilton's tv garden) and Grimsthorpe Castle garden.
The heating had central control and so it came on early but went off pretty early too, at or soon after 10pm which I thought was too early as the room quickly got cold. It was a little dark in daylight hours due to the canopy outside, but of course this canopy shelters you if you arrive back trying to open the door in the rain. A lot of light (ironically) comes in around the curtains in the morning and the fire exit sign glows brightly at night so you could benefit from bringing eye shades (which I tend to sleep with now anyway). Being able to hear the neighbouring loo flush so clearly meant you could be woken up by it. Check out time of 9am seems extremely early if you're on a leisure break. As it happens I had to be somewhere so it suited me to get up and out before then. The pub doesn't serve food anymore so you have to go somewhere else by car to find food, or indeed a shop. Clearly some bring takeaways back as there's a request on the table to leave the rubbish from them in a bin outside. Minor point but perhaps a lost opportunity to plant up the pots in the courtyard outside the rooms to add cheer to the only view, although perhaps they do this in high season.

The place was what I expected, the room was basic, but clean and had coffee and biscuits.. The bed was super comfy and so quite in the night... The pub was a jewel in the crown, it was olde worlde with a huge log fire and some darn nice beers.
The shower was not very hot, even at the reduced water flow rate... it was bearable.

It was as though you weren’t expecting us
The room cold things not working l was really disappointed having bought a friend after telling how good we had found a previous visit
I had also invited other friends to join us for a meal in the bar no food and no Monday breakfast all good if you want a slimming break
The lady did however give us another room which proved better but again had to wait for it to warm up
I would suggest you advise your guests before hand regarding the food situation as isn’t really handy for other restaurants

Nice old pub with chalet style letting rooms
My room was very cold, in the morning everything was locked up, no breakfast No real explanation and nobody to ask for a receipt of anything.
