Location is very good - just few block from Zocalo. Lots of food places and nice shops in the area. Great staff on the hotel - friendly and helpful. Hotel is old and charming. We did enjoy our stay.

The idea that this might have been a lovely hotel in 1923 before traffic and nightclubs but for 2023, the property is not fit for purpose and it's not four star.
I was offered a room with a balcony or one facing the internal courtyard. I chose the balcony. Then I found out there was no balcony to stand on, just a balustrade and the windows face out on to Calle 2 Norte, an extremely busy road.
The room smelled of stale cigarette smoke, bad drains from the shower and a horrible cinnamon cleaning detergent. It is too noisy to open the french doors, The room has no airconditioning, no ceiling fan or portable fan. It was very hot and stuffy.
There was hot water to the shower but not to the basin.
You need to leave your room and sit in the share space to get an internet connection. Mostly the WIFI did not work in the bedroom.
The breakfast is a tiny amount of fruit, a little bun and a cup of poor quality coffee, served in a small area to the rear of the reeception counter.
The worst thing by far is given how noisy this street is, the hotel has not invested in double glazed windows. Apart from the traffic, there is a nightclub direclty opposite that has all its windows open, and plays extremely loud music and drunk people at the nightclub entrance talking very loudly. It was absolutely impossible to sleep, even with the wooden shutters closed and using earplugs. At 11pm I went down to reception and asked when the nightclub closes and was told at 1am. Then I looked on the internet which said it closed at 01:45am. The music was still very loud at 02:30am so I went to reception to tell them it was impossible to sleep. I hoped they might be able to go over to the club and ask them to turn the music down or close their windows, but the hotel staff just shrugged. It was not until after 03:30am that the club started to close-up.
I really feel like I wasted my money staying at Hotel Elena as the most basic thing I require of a hotel is that it is possible to sleep in the room that I have paid for.

It had AC, they cleaned every day, a nice terrace, supported us with the luggage and transport to airport.
Breakfast (too little food)

Very good location was the main positive of the place.
The room didn’t get any daylight. The window was looking out at an inside courtyard. The lights were left on in the courtyard so we couldn’t sleep properly plus it was very noisy.

The decoration and atmosphere at the hotel was very nice. They have very helpful staff we enjoyed our stay.
We would have liked an extra blanket, it was a little chilly during the night.

Really liked the quietness of the place.

The location is great, very close to the centre. It is a good option if you want to visit the town on a budget. Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast in the morning is not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel but better than nothing.
Out room was on a lovely terrace, however, we struggled to sleep at the beginning because of a club nearby playing music until 2-3am. The room was quite small and dated.
The parking space is not at the hotel.
Some rooms have not windows opening to the outside.
It is supposed to be a 4.stars hotel but in reality it should only have 2 stars.

location nice building
no window in my room. Car taking away by the staff. Nobody could communicate in english.
3.5
great location, helpful staff
be warned - always remember to agree the taxi fare with the driver. we knew the fare from when we arrived initially, but checked the cost of a pick up with the hotel. in the end the taxi driver charged us double on arrival. the taxi driver conspicuously tipped the hotel for getting us. I wasn’t happy about being set up this way. the hotel in Mexico City didn’t operate like this - so we were a bit naive perhaps.
4.5
Great location, nice decoration and terrace looking over the city. Rooms were clean and recently refurbished.
Bed was a bit small and there is a lot of noise from the street in the morning.

You people are sick in the head
We were checked in for 3 hours when we came back from exploring the city. We found our room completely flooded with sewage water all over our stuff which is now ruined. First they blamed us for it until we showed that their toilet and shower exploded with sewage water. They changed us to 2 new rooms which all had blood and urine stains in them. The man who showed us these rooms tried to convince us that this is from a cleaning detergent which is obviously not true. It’s disgusting. We wanted our money back because they obviously cannot provide for a clean room but they never gave it because “we signed for it”. I never signed for a flooded room or one that has blood and urine from other people in it. They never said even sorry or anything. They acted as if we are the crazy ones even though all of our stuff is ruined, we had no place to sleep and we didn’t get our money back. Right now they’re ignoring our calls, from me and from Booking. Avoid this hotel at all costs if you don’t want to lose your money. Never let someone tell you that sleeping in other people’s blood and urine is normal. They won’t help you in any way if something is wrong.

Great location and breakfast included
Air conditioning did not work, no table in the room. It was ok for the price but it is not a 4 stat hotel from anywhere

no window in our room, but fortunately, there was a fan for the hot nights

location was terrific,staff very accommodating
the noise from the lobby spirals up the staircase so you hear everything so do not take a room at the top of the stairs. we had #4 for one night and they gladly moved us. we also got our laundry done ( 2 weeks worth on a motorcycle) and the hotel quickly called a service for this. hot water was sketchy

One guy from the reception is speaking fluent English and was very helpful with bus schedules and so on. Also the rest of the Hotel personal is very friendly!
The hotel itself is located in the middle of the center and everything was very clean!
I would definitely come back!
The breakfast could be more local. But was nevertheless good. :-)

The decor includes nice colonial art.
Shower poor and with only tepid water. The rénovation design in the room could have been better.

The lady at reception was extremely helpful, sorted out some laundry for me and gave me very good advice on how to get back to the bus terminal by public transport. Thank you! It was also really nice to have a light breakfast included in the price.
There was a lot of noise from people talking - first a group of women, then 2 men, late at night - of course this is mot the fault of the hotel, but it might be nice to perhaps ask people to be quiet after 23 hours?
