Fantastic family run hotel with great food and a very warm welcome. We loved it and can’t wait to visit again
No shower attachment in our bathroom so couldn’t have a shower?
10.0
The location and a very nice atmosphere.. Very clean venue.
Excellent cuisine and the local ale, on tap, was rather pleasant too.
10/10
All very acceptable but maybe worth pointing out that the on site car park is locked from 21 00 until 09 00. There is other parking ( off site ) so not really an issue..

Staff and breakfast were lovely.
Decent styllng and refurb.
Friendly locals.
Secure car park
Pub, bar and car car park all closed early. £15 charge to get access after 11:30 pm. We got back back 10:30 to find no bar open!
Noisy hallway due to laminate flooring.
Bathroom too small.
Bed too big for size of room.
Awful curtain mechanism.
Poor TV signal.
Toilet seat wrong size for bowl.
Hot tap came off so we couldn't stop water, fixed by team.

Excellent food, nice location , attentive staff and nice rooms
Bathroom in our room was very small, only shower was attached to bath taps and we booked b & b, only to be told on leaving that we owed for breakfast as only continental was including(, not told that when ordering breakfast) so thought that a bit deceptive but would have upgraded anyway as food excellent

The location was on a tiny road but was nice and quiet, with good parking. The suite was lovely and clean. All the amenities were there that you required. The staff were pleasant and because we would be arriving back late in the evening made arrangements for us to use the side door. Shame we could not try the restaurant as we were staying there to go to a wedding and food was provided at the wedding. Could not really fault this lovely hotel.
Nothing really. All excellent.

Great breakfast ...warm croissants and pain chocolates.
I asked for more teabags for the room at the bar in the evening. The assistant seemed surprised that I was asking for more. I don't think that giving extra teabags out is a big deal.

Excellent hotel with high standards
Everything was spot on

I left early so missed breakfast and the location was perfect for me

Perfect night for our hike at the South Downs Way. Friendly staff, vibrant restaurant with lots of vegetarian options. Nice breakfast.
Only a bath and the bed for the children (we had the suite with a foldable sofa) was a little small.

Very clean and up to date.
Shower cluttered and too small.

This is a lovely hotel and the staff/hosts are superb. The room was beautiful, although a little small but the whole place is very clean and very well maintained. Quite location in a stunning village and countryside. We felt welcomed and at home, thank you. The Restaurant was also very nice, we had steak with all the trimmings and a glass of wine, 2 for £45 which was excellent.
Breakfast being 8 until 9am wasn't great for us and we would have preferred longer, until 10 would give more flexibility on a leasure trip and allow for appetite but overall a very pleasant stay

Lovely welcome. Well presented.
Restaurant comfortable and interesting menu .
Room clean and smart.
Bathroom pretty small - (Buzzard room).
Noise from other rooms ( creaky floor) transmitted quite easily particularly from bathroom ( especially as water drained from bath or toilet !!!).
Some early traffic noise as located on a road junction.

Decor and general standard of the hotel are excelent.
I have never been made to feel so UNwelcome at a hotel or Pub. We were a group of three people cycle touring. Firstly the hotel wanted to charge £10 per bike to store the bikes in an old container. No key for us, no guarantees. The general manner of the owner was confrontational. This extended to policies such as charging extra if you were to stay out later than a certain time.
The manager also made us move our bikes from the outside seating area (no one was in the area accept us) onto the road. We had purchased drinks while in this area. We elected not to eat in the hotel, even to not eat the “free” continental breakfast. We met the same owner in returning to the other hotel, his only comment was to ask “where is the other one”. No good evening or any greeting.
As I say. Lovely hotel, but the owner hates the job and hates the guests.

Welcoming staff, great dinner, everything made very easy for us
Both the guest and London pride were off, the barrels should’ve been changed at lunchtime, I guess

I like the location
Cooked breakfast was not included, I thought it was but I didn't read the small print for the price it should have been included. We couldn't get Wifi in our room. And the room was small and a bit claustrophobic, also it didn't have a stand-up shower. We had dinner there and it was very average

Wonderful location, staff very welcoming, food excellent
Only one tiny niggle, the inner rim of the toilet in Woodpecker was a little grimy with what looked like mould visible whilst using the sink & looking over

Breakfast was good - paid extra for hot breakfast. Room was comfortable and clean. Walls are thin though so you can hear everything from next door! Staff were all pleasant.
walls were thin. It is a pretty village but nothing much around it.

Room was clean and bathroom was lovely well-equipped with nice bath products. The evening meal in the restaurant was lovely.
We couldn't stay for breakfast because it started too late. It didn't start until 9am which is far too late for walkers who have a long day of walking ahead on the South Downs way. We had to make do with a packed breakfast instead which consisted of a croissant, pain au chocolat, flapjack and a bottle of water. It would have been appreciated to have fruit and orange juice too, but sadly not. The room had insufficient plugs. We had to pull out the bed to get to a plug to charge a phone. The bath had no shower attachment for rinsing out hair. Very expensive for quality of stay.

Convenient for South Downs Way. Friendly staff and good food

Clean comfortable room.
Breakfast didn’t start early enough, served from 0900 but they did sort us a cold pAck up.

very clean. service adequate.
lack of attention to detail such as no toilet roll holder in bathroom, mirror so low you have to kneel to dry your hair

People were lovely and the food was excellent. Room was small but comfortable
Pet hate is added service charge, here it was 12%. That meant dinner bed and breakfast came to just under £240 for one night.

The booked room was a very small room in the roof with no opening windows, no wifi no moblie connection.
the included breakfast was continental, we would have to pay extra £20 for a cooked breakfast, this was not stated in the booking,we where not offered another room.
We have to have mobile connection to home at all times.
So we decided not to stay and had to drive 120 miles home
