EXTREMELY IMPORTANT YEAR ROUND TRAVEL INFORMATION--READ BEFORE BOOKING A RESERVATION:
1)It is the responsibility of the guest to have travel plans in place to travel either over the North Cascades via Highway 20 OR to travel over Steven's Pass through Leavenworth OR to travel I-90 over Snoqualmie to Blewett Pass through Wenatchee and then up the Columbia river to the Methow Valley. If one route is closed, it is the YOUR responsibility to make alternate plans for travel. NO REFUNDS will be given at any time of the year simply because an alternate route must be taken and add additional travel time. Highway 20 is closed in the winter and mountain passes can be closed anytime of the year because of wildfires, rockslides or other occurrences. Directions over all the routes will be sent to. you 3 days before your arrival. Make sure to check pass reports(and they can change while you are en route) and print out the directions before you leave.
2)Trail Access/Closure Information:
If you are coming to hike, bike, or ski on a trail or system of trails which happen to be closed before or during your stay, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN because of this. Trail closures can occur anytime because of fire, rockslides, mud flows...and we have no control over this. There are many hiking, biking trails of various kinds in the Methow Valley. If access to the North Cascades is closed via Hwy 20 because of any reason, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN because of this. There beautiful hikes in and around our valley that we would be happy to recommend.
INTERNET INFORMATION/POLICY..PLEASE NOTE:
**We strive to provide the best internet service we can get here in the very rural Methow Valley. Internet speeds vary throughout the valley and outages or tech issues can occur that Methow Reservations nor the owners have no control over, and for these reasons NO REFUNDS are given if the internet is problematic. Should you have an issue with internet service, please send us a message through VRBO describing the problem. We will then contact you to troubleshoot. If the issue is not resolved, we will then contact the internet provider, and/or homeowner. Please note... our valley is very rural and getting service personnel to fix things in a timely manner can be a challenge. We rent lodging, not office space. Public internet is available at the Winthrop library with enhanced internet speed (parking lot or inside the library). Alternatively, for a fee you can go to the Dropzone in downtown Winthrop. Thank you for your understanding!
WINTER INFORMATION:
**Should you travel to the Methow during the winter months it is important to understand that you must be prepared for winter driving(keep chains, shovel...in the car). If it snows while here you will have to wait for plow service just like every other person in the valley. There are a limited number of plow companies and we can not make them show up any faster than they are able. They have many different contracts and many miles of roads, driveways...to plow. If a plow person or a snow shoveler shows up to clear any area around the house, please do not argue with them or turn them away. Move your vehicles if asked. Your cooperation and patience are required especially after any significant snow accumulation. Should you get stuck you can call Classic Towing in Twisp, WA

Perfect location and size for our family! Will be staying here again for sure!

Very familiar with the location. Great apot to base out of with small kids for walks and adventures in and around town.
Two true bedrooms with an Alcove using a curtain as a devider. Wasnt ideal for a last minute guest, but we made due just fine. Didnt have any need to interact with the hosts as everything went off without a hitch.
Lovely momma deer hangs out just off the deck in the back that you can see from the wonderful, open, well-appointed kitchen.

Great accommodations! The location is great and the home was very comfortable and appointed.

I was pleasantly surprised to stay in downtown Winthrop. I expected some noise but it was relatively serene. I appreciated the cool air on very hot days. Restaurants close by…
The house was nicely laid out with a unique modern/country vibe. Lots of colors and patterns. We could close doors between two sides of the house. My 30+ kids could enter from a different door so not to disturb us (parents) after we went to bed. Kitchen was nice even though I didn’t get to use it.

Funky layout but lots of space for a couple and a family of three. Spacious kitchen and bathroom. Comfortable. You’ll hear the salon during the day if you’re there.

Loved the place. Very clean and well stocked with misc items. Would stay here again.

The Waring house made a perfect retreat after a long day of skiing. The in-town location is almost impossible to beat. You are less than a minute's walk to downtown Winthrop and yet it was cozy and quiet inside.
As other reviews noted, the kitchen is well stocked for most any dish you'd like to make. All the bedrooms were well furnished with extra blankets and comforters. (We did not use them as the heater was plenty good for us). The front room also has some wonderful historical displays of letters and newspapers found during the remodel for you to read.
One thing to note for winter rentals (possibly summer): The house can be separated into 2 living areas. This initially confused us since the house notes referenced the two places independently. Don't be confused by the binder notes. Our rental, "The Waring House", included both spaces.

Our family of four stayed in this lovely historic home for a long weekend while attending the Great Outdoor Classic hockey tournament. It is conveniently located in town and walking distance to the rink. With a fully equipped kitchen, we had the option of cooking our meals. We also put the dryer to good use, drying gloves, hats, jackets, and ski pants. At night we could gather together and watch a movie or spread out into our own private spaces to read, watch TV, and play on tablets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Property was very comfortable and well appointed.
Could have used games and pillows on beds that were not so high, thick.
We had trouble with the automatic coffee maker which ended up leaking over the counter. Instructions for it’s use would have been helpful and a pour over drip coffee filter.
