Everything was fine

I stay here regularly when on business in the area and I’m never disappointed. Great building with loads of character, a variety of comfortable rooms, friendly staff and great food. What’s not to like ?

We stayed for just one night. Booked as an emergency on a budget and weren't disappointed. The room, although quite small, was clean, had a comfortable bed, a little bathroom and all the usual basics, ie tv, coffee making facilities with a nice selection and even a microwave. The location is very quiet, so we had a good night's sleep. Can't comment on bar and restaurant as we didn't have breakfast or dinner there, but opted for a pub 1mile down the road. Will stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful inside and out. Gardens lovely and secluded. Staff excellent
Sadly the plumbing in Rm 10 terrible and we had no water or able to shower.

Old Country House, that has seen better days.
But.... clean, quiet, attentive staff.

Room 14 was in urgent need of updating. Carpets very old and marked, windows filthy and frames were rotten.
Breakfast good and bed good

The hotel is down a very narrow road and satnav actually tried to direct me into a private residence entrance before reaching the hotel. Take care leaving or joining the main road the line of sight both ways is dangerously restricted.
The staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming and sullen, giving the impression that they did not enjoy their jobs.
I had booked a double room, which turned out to be a very small room, with a double bed pushed up against the wall on one side. The shower was so cramped I had to open the door to be able to spread my arms out to dry myself.
The body wash tubes provided in the shower room were empty.
Breakfast was not worth £13. The waitress was surly, it felt like she was doing me a huge favour taking my order and resented even being there. I got no response to my polite greeting. The tables were not preset, despite the fact that I had booked and paid for the meal the night before. So the waitress clattered and dumped items on the table setting it in front of me.
I asked for some fruit and was given 3 thinly sliced strawberries arranged on a plate. I could not eat the scrambled egg it tasted like flour had been added and was not cooked properly. I enjoyed the toast which was nice and hot!
Conclusion: I will not stay there again.

Property had no character or charm, breakfast was very low quality and the staff said two words to us and were not friendly or helpful at all. Would never recommend this place to anyone

It as dated, tired, grubby and 20 years past its prime. Awful. Would not go again. Property needs considerable investment and renovation.

Hotel looked lovely from outside. Room was a bit dated, needed an update. Breakfast was nice.

Perfect for our 1 night stay.

Although the owners were welcoming and the food good,we were disappointed with the state of the hotel. The photos of rooms on the website were very misleading.
The seals on the double glazing on the wndows in our room were broken so the windows were all misty.
The bath was very slippy and although a nonslip mat was provided it did not help.

Wonderful hosts. Quiet country inn. Adorable.

We stayed in one of the Cabins - really pleasant to sit outside and have a drink looking at the gardens. Someone had so obviously been smoking inside there though, the smell of stale tobacco hit us as soon as we got in. The decor is tired and a bit sparse in there but overall we did enjoy it! Staff are great and it’s lovely and quiet.

We had a log cabin in the garden as we had our dog. Good king bed and the gardens were lovely and peaceful.
Lovely walk across
The fields in the morning for the dog.

Cracked floor tile in bathroom. No hot water !!!!! Dirty window frame. Only two pillows on double bed, I think you need 4 really.

We arrived late on our first night the lady was very nice about it not like the lady who i spoke to night before , she was very rude , about us arriving late
The bar was closed and on the Saturday afternoon we wanted a few drinks to chill out the bar was closed . So we decided to go to town instead , we got back to have a few beers the bar was closing at 9-30 we got serviced to be told we had to leave the bar as it was closed off to bed we went
They need to say on the website saying bar hours

Very quite and out the way. Perfect break for getting away from bissy life. Staff were friendly, kind, and helpful. Asked best places to park in bury for abby gardens and other places they suggested the best places for us and affordable. Decoration suited the building which is so perfect. (Cant expect to have Morden decore in a 18th century building). WIFI was good aswell. Love how they give you your privercy but if you need them they to hand. Defo be returning again in near future. Food was amazing aswell.

Lovely surroundings, charming historical building and great service!

I booked a cabin for a reason
It was changed because of the hotel double booking.
Ended up with a second floor room. I am hyper mobile and struggle with stairs.
Couldn’t use the shower as the holder didn’t keep the shower up and it flooded
£20 taken even though I already paid a lot of money

Grounds well kept, building has plenty character.

What a wonderful place to stay! The lodge we stayed in was perfectly suited to us. Loved the veranda and the table and chairs so we could sit outside in the evening with a view across the lawn and to the trees.
Breakfast was a feast - only disappointment was that we were only there for one night. We plan to return and stay for longer next time.

rooms a little dated. carpet joints all seperating. windows look very cold for the winter
the suite would be better if the tv was in the sofa area because you have to sit on bed if you want to watch tv which makes sofa a waste of an area.

Restaurant is excellent and has really great steaks.

On arrival had a small issue which was met with a rude and blunt response demonstrating shoddy customer service
I was looked up and down by the manger and immediately informed I had to pay a cost holding on the room, when asked why , simply told to google it as this is policy
Never have I been spoke to line this and honestly I held back and remained professional unlike these two I met
Shocking service
Shower poor
Toilet took seceral flushes after using
WiFi absolutely shocking slow when I tested on google speed test and unable to carry out work
It’s a Christmas card, looks nice but nothing inside
Be warned

We stayed at this property as it is nearby family who we were visiting. The hotel is beautiful and well presented, our two rooms were comfortable and had everything needed for a stay. We enjoyed the character and lovely features of the hotel. The two staff members we met were both very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in the quiet dining area and we both enjoyed our meals. Easy to find and parking was easy too. Will definitely be booking again - many thanks 😊

Very nice spacy room with big bathroom and large bed.
Lovely lounge and dining room. We were lucky to have been able to get a table for 6.45pm as the restaurant was fully booked on that Monday. The food were big portions and was very delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I stayed in one of the log cabins, spacious room, comfy bed, it rained hard all night and the noise of the rain hitting the roof was very soothing
Would book this hotel/log cabin again

The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was nice. The grounds were lovely and the exterior of the building is beautiful but the interior has been left to deteriorate. Decor feels old and unloved. We rented a garden cabin. The door was battered, the carpet stained. The whole place feels tired. It is a shame as it has great potential but we feel the hotel should not be charging full price until it has undergone a refurbishment and refresh. We were disappointed with the state of the room and dining room.

Very very small room, hotel needs up dating.

The Grange is a delightful hotel, converted from a period property, and offers excellent service with countryside location. The rooms were very clean and in good order, together with the facilities and service.
A peaceful and relaxing environment which I would thoroughly recommend.

The bathroom area and shower was extremely small & very limited space.

We stayed one night 25th June 2023 and it was perfect. We stayed in a cabin and the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The dinner that evening was amazing … can’t fault any of it!

Comfy, quite & menu range is good. Looking out onto the back lawned area is very nice if you time it right for pleasant weather. Although you are target practice for the numerous pigeons flying around!!! Wear a Hat😂
Food great, service of food/drink was spot on. Just lacking on the welcome side - felt it was more a hinderance we had arrived at 6pm - plus refusal to print out a hotels receipt upon departure. (yes i can log on to the web and download, just never had that issue before with a point blank refusal).
Nothing has put us off - we would use this as a business stop over again.
4 out of 5 👍
