My son and I had an amazing stay. We were there only one night, after a long drive and we really enjoyed the central location near the Citadel. Parking was free and easy and we walked to a super nice French restaurant nearby. The room was clean and comfortable, with real mugs for coffee. Since we had to leave super early the next morning, the host brought us muffins, yogourts, eggs and juice so we could have an early breakfast when we wake up. I really recommend this place!

We appreciated how close it was to the IWK for our early morning appointment. When the front desk person learned that we were checking out before breakfast, she offered us breakfast to go…muffins and yogurt and juice. We really appreciated that kindness. We would stay there again.

Good location, friendly staff, quiet and nice continental breakfast.

Great place to stay in Halifax. Walkable to most attractions. Very kind staff.

Staff incredibly helpful and present. A bit of a walk from downtown and in the lively but inelegant university area.
Lovely building.

Charming room and ambience. Paul was extremely helpful and pleasant during our stay in this century-old Inn. Although staff is lovely, room service was a little spotty. Would highly recommend to family and friends.

Oldie world hotel, bedroom was ok, had bath with excellent shower. Wardrobe doors were hanging off, so left them open. Plenty of storage space, coffee maker and fridge, plus 2 bottles of water daily.
What let it down? there are no lifts, from the street to the front door and from reception to all floors stairs. And no one to help with your luggage.
Not disable friendly.
Second thing was the breakfast, it's not cheap to stay in Canada, cereal, fruit juice, bread and bagels, boiled eggs and fruit.. I think one day there was scrambled egg, that disappeared on day 2&3, and watermelon disappeared on day 3. This was supposed to be a continental breakfast??? Worse breakfast I've ever seen.
Good location for train and bus station, easy walk into downtown and public gardens and citadel.

I love heritage homes and this one is comfortably charming. I stayed here 5 years ago on my only other trip to Halifax and purposely picked it again.

It is also self-serve.

It was a GREAT central location in Halifax.

This is a very dated property and definitely could use some TLC, the walls are blacked marked in multiple places, there is mold on the dated shower tiles, the shower curtains are in desperate need of replacement (frayed bottoms and mold residue spots are clearly visible) . They advertise that parking is available, but not until you arrive do they tell you they nay have 7 spaces available, and when those are taken (likely by staff) that you are to park across the street at the hospital, or on the side of the road both at your own expense. The layout is very awkward, we were given a room in the basement, so you walk down 2 flights of stairs and then up another set to get to the room (hard to envision) ….otherwise the staff reasonably helpful with directions to stores/restaurants

The staff were friendly and informative when checking into the facility. They provided what turned out to be an excellent dining experience at a nearby restaurant. The Inn was quiet and comfortable.

The staff was friendly and eager to help our stay be memorable!

The carpet had so many large stains in it, it was disgusting. The bed squeaked and you could feel the springs. Mattress and carpet need to be replaced immediately.
Breakfast was ok. Neighborhood is very rundown, it is the only place on the block that has been renovated and homeless are camped out across the street.

Good location to walk to the waterfront (15 min). Nice breakfast every morning. We were able to do laundry in the evening which was very convenient. Limited parking so ask in advance if you need one.

Staff were accommodating and friendly. B&B is located at a convenient location. Room was very comfortable. Great view.

Great location & good price--felt safe. The view out our window included a dilapidated building next door and a graveyard. The property condition was good, but minor adjustments would be great...the toilet overflowed, the sprung mouse trap under the bed was weird, and it was difficult to find an outlet to charge our phones.
Reserve a spot to park if you plan to come and go during the day...otherwise the public parking across the street works well.
Breakfast was continental.

We absolutely loved the location of the property and loved that it gave a quaint bed and breakfast feel right in the middle of the city. The food was good, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy. Definitely recommend!

Room is small, property could use some updating. Staff were friendly. Poor layout in the bathroom made it awkward to use the sink. Shelf over toilet so toiletries can tumble into the toilet. Carpet was old/worn and didn’t appear clean.

Nice room with comfortable bed. Good shower.
15 minute walk to the waterfront. Good value.
I didn’t partake in the breakfast.

The room was very run down. Rug was filthy and matted with stains. Toilet seat had bubble marks. The shower knob fell out off when my husband was taking a shower. The closet had missing knobs.

Excellent location for us and we were able to just leave our car and walk to everywhere we needed to be. We were even able to walk downtown to the waterfront to see the sights. The surrounding neighbourhood seemed very safe at night. The Inn was very clean and the continental breakfast was well laid out. A warm, comfortable environment overall.
This property does not have an elevator so we had to carry our luggage up and down 2 flights of stairs. Being 80ish, this was not so easy. Staff did offer help if we needed it. Our towels had seen better days, and we would have liked to have had extra towels in the room when we arrived. A second towel rack would certainly help keep things organized in the bathroom.
The Inn’s website did not say that there was a mini fridge in the room. We were surprised to find one!

I had a nice stay here, and the staff were all very friendly. The provided breakfast was nice, too, and the location was really useful for being close to different parts of the city.

Decent place to stay. A lot of the charm of an older house has been lost. The room was clean, except the bathroom floor wasn't to the same standard. The staff were excellent and very helpful.

Good location away from downtown but close enough to walk. Quiet rooms, adequate breakfast, comfortable beds and good shower. Would return.

Staff was great. I had no heat in my room so it ruined the whole experience. I was given a small deduction for the big inconvenience as a sleepless night has long repercussions for one coming to work. Panels of wardrobe doors were missing, I was in the basement with stained chairs and could hear every single breath of the people above me as well. I was said that it is hard for them to find someone for repair and that it smelled weed in my room as all smokers, including me, smoke outside in the parking lot close to the walls to protect themselves from the cold wind which is where my windows were at tire level. Around my windows were lots of buds...and my windows were opened until I realized they were in the wee hours of the night. Location is great and the staff is great. I guess it was a whole series of coincidences that made the experience very poor and being unable to have a night of sleep due to the cold and heating not being activated in my room.

The owner and staff were so kind and each room is decorated in a really cute and cozy way. I felt like I was transported back to the 1800s with the homemade quilt vibe next door to a Catholic cemetery dating back to 1843 was incredible - plus being across the street from the Public Gardens and next door to a delicious French Bistro by Liz AND the most amazing Happy Veal Hot Pot - and I only walked 1 km from my bus stop! (Maritime Bus) Perfect way to enjoy Halifax.

Paul and his staff were very accommodating. There was an issue with our initially thru no fault of their own and they made sure we were compensated and made comfortable. Would definitely stay there again

Staff were all so accommodating. Room was absolutely comfortable. Best was the do-it-yourself breakfast, a meal which remains my favourite of the day.

Pros:
- free parking
- walking distance to everything
- breakfast included (which we did not take advantage of)
- cheaper than other options. You get what you pay for I guess.
Cons:
- The room was 24.5 degrees. That’s way too hot. AC does not work as there was no remote nor buttons on the actual unit itself and the temperature adjuster on the wall did not move the temp up or down. We did not complain cause it was only for 1 night. And we just opened the window, but it quickly got too cold and had to shut it.
- The carpet in the room is gross.
- The view outside of our window was a graveyard.
- The shower partially worked. The large top shower head kept dripping cold water, so I had to stand very close to the normal shower head to avoid to cold drips of water.
- The beds aren’t very good, but it’s fine for a night. I could not do a week on them that’s for sure.
Overall, do I recommend?
No. I will not go back. It was a mediocre experience at best. The biggest disappointment was temp in the room being completely unacceptable.
