Booked this hotel for my friends and I purely for a place to sleep after a day out so the price we paid (£120 total) was very reasonable for Chester. My party comprised 4 adults and we were allocated a 2 bedroom apartment at the hotel's annex. The apartment was more than suitable for our needs but would be a great place to use for a multi-night stay. There was even a car park spot at the annex which we didn't use.

We both enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore this beautiful city. Parking is in a nearby multistorey. The décor is very quirky and the glass door in our room that is shared between the shower / bathroom and toilet takes some getting used too! The breakfast was continental with a large range of pastries, cereals, meats fruits and breads. We would certainly visit again our only criticism was on our final night we were disturbed by 4 middle aged drunken women who insisted in shouting screaming and running up and down the corridor at 1am. A difficult situation which we felt wasn't dealt with at all either at the time or in the morning.

Great apartment. Huge beds. Great decor and extremely comfortable. Was a shopping trip with mum and perfect having our own rooms. Near to shops and has a parking spot.

There seemed to have been a few changes since our stay earlier this year. Breakfast was disappointing, no alternative to continental, which wasn’t as fresh aa expected. No visible presence of a staff member to even ask. Coffee/tea basic. The hotel itself was as clean and as comfortable as usual but just felt a little more impersonal than usual. Located well though for everything Chester

Stayed in appointment 1 and it was spotless ,spacious & very homely with everything we needed - only regret was we should of booked for longer - tried adding another night but was fully booked, will definitely stay there again in the future, if i had to find 1 commitment i would recommend mold & mildew remover in the shower as very mouldy other than that it’s 99 from us

Room was in a block a short walk away, nice and spacious with private parking sieve. Wish I’d known this at check in

Atrocious! Avoid at all costs, told us to park in a dodgy, tiny car park - even though we had 2 pregnant women and a baby with us - and despite the fact that WE WERE ENTITLED TO A SPACE WITH OUR BOOKKN. Service was horrible too. Loads of other good hotels right next door. AVOID oddfellows at all costs

Quirky, lovely room, clean. Really enjoyed our stay.

Last minute couples stay.. The circular bed hit the spot!

So a nice boutique hotel, very comfortable bed. Shower door leaked water a bit. No lift as listed building, think maybe they should make that clearer as some older buildings do have a lift. My partner has a disability and there were a lot of stairs. Outside area was nice, but they didn’t put lights on at night. One staff member who worked on the bar ignored me and served the people behind me purely because she thought I may want a cocktail as I had looked at the menu. She was mixing one when I got there and didn’t look very happy about it. When someone else served me I did ask for a cocktail and did comment on the service. She asked the same woman to make it and she answered “ I’ll try”, I told her not to bother and ordered something else. Other than that the other staff were all good.

It was great but the aoarpment we where in No4 could do with some attention to the roof in the kitchen ans in the bathroom. Lolk a little tired in some places ie decor.

Great location , but not so keen on the attic bedrooms , good job we were not a tall couple to get in and out of toilet room and the sink is at other end of bedroom and near the nice dbl shower at the back of bedroom which is open plan !The hotel is a venue as well , the first night the music stopped at ten but second night it was 12.30 am and very loud , so something to think about

This was our second stay at the property, as we had been there 8 months prior. The last room was a bit "odd", but it worked fine.
This time, the entire property was a COMPLETE letdown. First, let me explain who I am as a traveler.
I'm 63 years old, and I've stayed at lots of properties around the world, and expect at least a minimum level of service and value. This means to me -- help with bags, a clean room with working facilities, and some ease of access to my room. The previous room I had was just about at the minimum level, and I booked the hotel a few months in advance, expecting this because of the proximity to shopping and restaurants in Chester. I requested the same room, but it was already booke and I was assured that I would get an upgrade.
The room was three flights of stairs up. When we got to the room we immediately saw a large shower and TWO bathtubs in a long room. The toilet was behind what could charitably be described as an outhouse door with the ceiling sloping so you hit your head every time you use it. The door latch was appropriate for an outhouse.
The fan didn't work. The mirrord didn't light. The lighting was dim throughout. We turned on the TV and it went straight to some adult channel, and it took us time to figure it out. I'm positive they shoot "videos" in that room. Oh, and I had to haul my bags up the three stories and back down when we checked out.
Never, ever again. There is DEFINITELY better places.

Very good location - very close to town centre.
Quirky rooms in main hotel.
Great continental breakfast (NO COOKED)

The location was great with free parking. We stayed in the two bed apartment and the condition was poor. Lots of mould around the bath, no fans in the bathroom so paint peeling off the walls due to the steam. The toilet flush didn’t work fully and the light above the bathroom mirror didn’t work so was very dark in there. The shower door was also broken and the water took ages to drain away. The windows in the apartment are also bolted shut for some reason. So no way of getting any fresh air into the apartment and no air con. Cups and glasses in the cupboards also filthy, bin in the kitchen all dinted and dirty. Felt like tatty student digs.

Lots of very high reviews for this place and tbh I can see why it might appeal very much to some and not so much to others.
It certainly was one of the oddest hotels I stayed in. There was no hot breakfast available which was only advised to me a week or so before our stay although the kitchen was open on other days.
The continental breakfast provided however was pretty good so all things considered it was fine.
We stayed in a cottage room which was good but had to walk through a private event to go to/from our room and had a dash in the rain to get to the restaurant.
The room itself was clean , tidy and comfortable. However there was a definite drains smell in the room which was unpleasant. Also as it was a disabled room the bath in the very middle of the room is probably a challenge to disabled folks using the room.
Also the emergency cord for disabled alarm is tied up 5’ above the bedroom floor ( Needs to touch the floor) , ‘press button’ to open the door didn’t work. No pull cord in the shower area is another miss for this kind of room.
The glass door to the toilet was odd but it didn’t close properly ..
Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful.
With No Parking at the hotel we were referred to a nearby (200 yards away) NCP car park … however it was possibly one of the most awkward car parks I have ever tried to park in … I would seek out another car park…
Not sure I would stay again but it was ok but I felt it was over prices although it’s location is perfect

I really lovely space, can’t wait to stay there again

We have stayed at the main hotel a couple of times in the past and as our regular hotel was booked we thought we would try the apartments at Oddfellows and unfortunately they were a bit of a let down. There signs of poor maintenance such as the blinds being broken and unable to open or shut. The slats were broken allowing light in the morning. The toilet seat in the bathroom is cracked/broken. Smoke alarm on top of the fridge that looks like it should have been in the hall/entrance as one was missing from there. Extractor fan in the shower room didnt work. The cleanliness of the apartment also wasnt amazing. The tv remotes were all really dirty. The mirrors were dirty and the bedding had marks on them. There was dirt under the sofa in the living room. We havent stayed at oddfellows for quite a few years and were impressed with the main hotel, so its a shame the appartments didnt live up to our expectations.

Lovely, quirky hotel. Excellent breakfast.

Great choice for Chester!
4.0
Great hotel, bar and restaurant
Only negative was that we were in an accessible room that had a bath in the room which wasn’t practical at all, and the shower seat needs replacing - mouldy.
1.5
Location was perfect, lovely area. All staff we came across were very polite and chatty. Small niggles such as loose toilet seat and loose tap. Unclean in areas, where the shower cubicle meets the carpet there were stains, most likely from water. Mould in shower cubicle. This wasn’t enough for us to be unhappy overall but did feel it didn’t quite live up to what we were expecting.

I have stayed in two of the apartments (3 and 5) - both have an equipped kitchen/living area, two bedrooms with bathrooms, and a washing machine. Apartment 3 is on the ground floor. Apartment 5 is on the first floor (up stairs) has an additional powder room. The apartments are located in an annex within easy walking distance of the hotel and all the sites in the city centre, about 100 yard, close to the city wall and River Dee. Parking is a bit crowded - barely enough space if all the apartments are occupied. They are serviced, but some days were missed and did not always replace soaps, etc. The internet in Apartment 5 stopped working a few times during our stay. Overall a great option to stay in Chester for a family of 4.

Fab hotel, will certainly stay again

We have stayed in the property before and really liked it, so thought we would stay again.
But this time we stayed in one of the attic rooms.
Luckily we aren't' that tall other wise we would have hit our heads and just about got into the room were the toilet was and the toilet system had a crack on it.
The shower looked impressive (double shower)but we could just about open the door to get in and the shower head was spraying in different direction and not straight down over you.

Great location and great breakfast. But, the room was very noisy! (Room no.8) Thumping music from about 3 until 10/11pm - could hear every word of every song! And the drainage system in the shower is clearly not fit for purpose! Again, excessively loud gurgling whenever any other room used their shower/toilet.

Oddfellows Hotel is a gem! Exquisite decor, outstanding service, and a cozy atmosphere make it unforgettable. Perfect blend of luxury and charm. Highly recommend for a unique and delightful stay!

Good and bad.
Room clean and comfortable. Staff helpful.
Pillows felt if they were full of little foam balls, and mattress very soft but slept well, once the outside music stopped.
On Friday and Saturday nights the music is tired up loud and the bright young things of Chester come out to play. As there were not many people outside they did turn the music down when asked but in the summer I would think it would go on until late.

Radiator in room dangerously scolding hot would burn a child’s skin badly
Toilet was dirty with a human stool in the toilet left
Not cleaned
2 people behind bar with full of people waiting as the lounges are full of events
Busy showing off making cocktails meaning people wanting easy prepared drinks (beer) queuing for ages

We love this hotel - quirky and always bustling. Fantastic singer in the evening too.

Great hotel modern and quirky, nice staff, good breakfast. Good position really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed in an apartment which was very well appointed & large. Quiet location but close enough to the center to get to restaurants and sight seeing. Bathroom in need of some updating but otherwise a great place to stay.

The ambience at Oddfellows is fabulous, I loved the decor, the cocktails are lovely, all staff helpful and professional, I stayed in a suite and it was lovely, the pillows were a bit lumpy and the lighting was hit and miss but apart from that all great.
2.5
Staff very friendly, polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

An absolute gem of a hotel, a great find. Clean, comfortable and very quirky. It is in a perfect location to explore this City with restaurants/cafes all around. Felt safe in our surroundings.
All i can say as a negative is the bathroom isn’t ideal, especially if sharing with friend/new partner/child as privacy is to the minimum woth all the glass!!
2.0
This is an excellent apartment in a great location, it comes with parking and is in easy walking of the town centre. However it is a little tired, the radiator in the one ensuite bathroom clearly needed bleeding and the blind in the associated bedroom was broken so you couldn't adjust it to stop light coming in on a morning, the kettle was also a little temperamental probably too clever for its own good . Yes we could have reported these things but we were focussed on having fun and they should have been noticed and fixed by housekeeping especially the freezing bathroom.

Very spacious apartment, perfect central location for shopping and eating out. Parking actually at the apartment which is very convenient! Just a few small maintenance jobs required to give it a 5* rating.

Quirky
Strange to have a bath in middle of bedroom!
Disabled access room with restricted access!
