This was a lovely hotel in a perfect location.

It’s a boutique hotel. Beautiful and full of character. The minute you arrive you feel welcomed and they can’t do enough to make sure you are happy.
Perhaps the restaurant had some hit and Miss issues. I think there is room for improvement.

This property is lovely and in an excellent location, so close to the main square. Our room was huge and comfortable and very quiet. Breakfast was included with lots of great options. The staff throughout the hotel were very service oriented and helpful.
No elevator.

location and food good
It wasn't immediately obvious but the room did not have a window to the outside
I was disappointed with the taxi that the hotel ordered in that at the airport it transpired that the driver only dealt in cash and I did not have any. I was expecting to pay the taxi service through the hotel and therefore not needing local currency

The hotel was in a great location and was clean. The staff at reception and check in were very friendly.
The hotel had no bar - looked like it used to have one but it was just an empty room with the light sockets ripped out. The staff in the restuarant were not attentive at all - I had to get up and go to get the guy (Julian) to order something, Breakfast was ok - unless you came along later when most things had run out and were not replaced - although at least the staff at breakfast were caring and helpful. Not much of an ambience to the place which was also not helped by the acoustics... any noise was amplified - woken up by people moving up/down stairs as it echo'd, in the restaurant it was difficult to hear anything other than the general noise of everyone.

Staff is very friendly and helpful; breakfast buffet a variety of local and international foods.
The hotel is amazingly quiet at night!

Breakfast was excellent with a variety of items to choose from. The hotel staff were all very helpful and incredibly nice. We SO appreciated Roger's help in connecting us with Alex, a driver who took us on a few excursions! Outstanding!
These are things that cannot be changed but I would have appreciated knowing ahead of time to prepare:
1. Toilets are very low to the ground so those of us with bad knees/hips, be careful. :)
2. The stairs are all wooden and if your room is located next to stairs or the cleaning closet (also wooden), you will be woken up by those traveling up and down the stairs or opening cleaning closet doors. Not a huge issue, but if you're trying to nap or sleep in, you may need ear plugs.

very nice and well located
they were about to cancel our booking on the same day because of maintenance… but we insisted and managed to keep our room there

Everything, the Architecture, the rooms especially 212. public spaces all in typically Spanish/Moorish tradition. Staff could not be more helpful. Brilliant value for money.
This Hotel would be one my favourite places to stay whenever it was. However, in Ecuador it stands out as the competition does not offer this level of comfort for style at this price level

very clean and safe place. Central location. Very friendly front desk and service.
Basically no rooms with windows connected to some fresh air. Even with 10°C outside we had to run the AC all night. So called balcony all go to the inside, a roofed atrium. Needless to say, no fresh air here either. Also from here, you look down at the restaurant. While it's a nice look it's not practical at all. You have noise and smells from the restaurant coming up, going straight into the room, even with doors closed. Walls and doors, in addition, are very thin, so you basically can hear everything. If it says 2 beds and a couch in the description, that is not true. There won't be a couch. They say if there are two beds then there is no couch even if they list the room with two beds and a couch on booking.com.
In our case the AC was mounted in a way, so that the remote did not work unless you just stand right in front of it. No chance to control it from any of the beds. The wifi was very weak and there was no connection in the upper floor and bathroom. Lower floor had connection but the signal was very weak and not what I would expect. The bathroom, as well as anything else had no windows and a barely working yet very loud ventilation which was also connected to the light. So entering the bathroom you had to turn on everything. Annoying at night because of the noise and also not very energy efficient. Water pressure was ok but warm water temperature was very unstable, leading to some boiling water suddenly bursting out. Be careful.
We only tried the breakfast once, because honestly it was rather underwhelming and very expensive. Expensive seems to be the trend here. The price they ask for is not worth what you will get. Given the fact that they advertise with pictures, that are presumably from the one room with window access to the outside, is more than just a little misleading. They are also listed as a 5 Star hotel on booking.com which, even for Ecuadorian standards is simply not true.
