We had a fantastic stay at this property. Everything as described. Would highly recommend.

We loved The Retreat as it was so peaceful and secluded yet only a two minute walk to the Two Sawyers for a smashing evening meal! The house had everything we needed and was lovely and clean on arrival. Beautiful weather meant we could enjoy the decking, and watch the wildlife and sheep, after visiting many NT properties in the area. Jac and Phil were the perfect hosts and if we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay again.

Ideal for a couple like us, situated quietly down a drive off the village road. Clean, comfortable, very well equipped and all on one floor. Jac was very friendly and helpful. Well placed for visiting both a number of National Trust and other properties and gardens, plus towns such as Rye & Hastings. We also enjoyed great weather for September.

Dick Fordham Review of the Retreat
The property is immaculate and has everything, and I do mean everything, you need to make yourself at home. The setting in Pett Village is idyllic with a 15th Century pub with great food and drinks and a lovely beer garden just across the road. It was quite and peaceful and is rightly named The Retreat. Jac and Phil are great hosts, attentive but not intrusive and it felt like my own home.

This the best self catering place we have ever stayed in. It is fully equipped and I could happily live here full time. The hosts are friendly and approachable, not that we needed anything during our stay. The Retreat is in a quiet village with a pub at end of the driveway and Hastings with all its attractions is a short drive away. I thoroughly recommend this venue and promise you will not be disappointed.

We had a lovely stay at the retreat. Although the weather wasn't the best their was plenty to do on the area and for those really rainy days the retreat had a selection of games for us to enjoy. It was lovely and clean and well maintained which made it the perfect base for our family holiday. Thank you

Beautiful little retreat in the country near the coast
Very comfortable, well-equipped dwelling with sunny terrace overlooking the East Sussex countryside less than 30 mins walk from the coast. Highly recommended.

The Retreat is a perfect name
The property was perfect, very private clean, with all you need, including a trampoline and garden racket games. The view from the balcony was unbroken countryside with trees all around, with sun from first thing to early evening. The geese in the field next the cottage were an added delight. You would not know it but there was also a pub over the road which is well worth a visit. The beach which was just too far too walk to was easily accessed by car with plenty of parking all the way along and was never very crowded. We would definitely stay here again

Hard To Fault
Despite the bad weather we had a really comfortable and enjoyable few days' stay at The Retreat. It's in a very peaceful location and just a few miles from Hastings, Rye and Battle.
The cottage was really clean and well equipped - we made use of the jigsaws and board games and the children had fun on the trampoline when the rain relented.
If and when we return to East Sussex I don't think we'd bother looking for anywhere else to stay. We would definitely recommend!
P.s. The wifi was fast - no problem for a few of us to stream iPlayer and Netflix at the same time in the evenings.

Peaceful cottage in Pett Village
We enjoyed our five day holiday in this lovely cottage. The setting was quiet and peaceful with a patio overlooking a forest of trees.
A perfect spot to relax and also a good location for day trips to Hastings, Battle and Rye. With thanks to our hosts for creating such a special retreat.

The Retreat
Property was wonderfully clean and well presented on our arrival. Even the kettle had NO evidence of limescale, despite it clearly not being brand new!!
Everything was there that we could possibly need; however, the outside decking area could be improved by having a fresh treatment of wood stain.
Location was perfect for our needs and the hosts were very helpful

Comfortable, clean fully equipped - home from home retreat.
The Retreat is a lovely quiet place to stay. Fully equipped, we had a complimentary bottle of wine, milk and ice ready for our arrival.
It is clean and has all the essentials including a washing machine, dishwasher, clean towels and comfy beds. Lots of info of places to visit in the local area.
We enjoyed star gazing each night. Visited a few places nearby including Winchelsea beach and the town of Rye which was quaint.

Very comfortable hideaway in a lovely spot
I had a lovely stay in the Retreat with my daughter (11). It was roomy and comfortable, equipped with everything we needed, set in a beautiful spot. It's opposite a nice pub that does good food and has a tearoom round the corner. It's easy to get to Hastings, Rye, and Winchelsea by car - and worth exploring some of the narrow back roads around Pett which are lovely in themselves. We climbed to the top of Fairlight church tower one day which gives you a stupendous view of the whole area. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Find
My husband and I and 2 friends booked the retreat for 3 nights over Easter and boy are we glad we did. Phil met us on arrival and showed us into the property. It was so nice and clean and had everything you could possible need. Lovely comfy beds too. We were greeted by an Easter Egg, a bottle of wine, cakes and tea/coffee etc. which was a lovely surprise. The views are amazing and the Geese and gosling are entertaining to watch. We went over for a sandwich and pint at the Two Sawyers (dead opposite) when we arrived and enjoyed it so much we booked to go back for dinner on the Friday night. We had a lovely meal and the place and staff are so welcoming. There are many leaflets in the Retreat with ideas of what to do in the area, we visited Rye which is so pretty (and the sun shone). We had a lovely cream tea in the Cobbles Tea Room (highly recommend) then went onto Battle which again is well worth a visit. On the Sunday we visited The Caves in Hastings then visited The Old Pump House for a pint in a pub which has so much character (you feel like you are in a smugglers pub) and we even went back and ate Sunday Roast, good value at £7.95 and very tasty.
The Wifi at The Retreat does keep going in and out but my husband found if you rebooted it, it was fine and there were 4 of us using it.
Phil was most helpful with any information you required, unfortunately we did not get to meet Jac but maybe next time.
We had an amazing stay and will definitely return if we are visiting the area again and we will highly recommend The Retreat to anyone else.

A Truly Peaceful Retreat
A very comfortable holiday home which had everything we could possibly need.
Great location with a decent pub within walking distance and another good pub further away in the same village (can highly recommend the Sunday Roast in the second pub) .
We visited several National Trust properties in the local area and discovered a few hidden gems.
Over all , a great place to stay.

A Serene Stay
We stayed in this cottage for 7 days. The hosts were very cordial and welcoming. The home was cozy, well-equipped, with very good kitchen appliances and a comfortable bed and nice linens—also plenty of storage space for clothing. The home is located in a peaceful setting and has convenient parking.
There were many interesting historical and scenic attractions around the area.
The only shortcomings were that the internet was intermittently very weak and could only support one device for emails. Also, the air fresheners/potpourri throughout the house were a little too strong. The problem was easily solved by removing them.
We would definitely recommend this cottage and would stay here again.

The Retreat Pett
Just back from a very enjoyable week at the Retreat. ThE accomodation is excellent and well positioned for visiting the area. There is also good walking on the doorstep. The Two Sawyers pub opposite provides excellent food and is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Peaceful location and handy for visiting Hastings
Lovely quiet and deceptively spacious 'retreat' with everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed having breakfast and bbqs on the large decking, watching the antics of the geese and catching the setting sun in the private garden. Pett level beach is only minutes away and well worth a visit to explore at low tide. Very handy having the Two Sawyers for excellent roast just past the owners house. A great opportunity to holiday with 2 grown up daughters.

Excellent location and condition of property
We found this cottage an ideal location for exploring the local countryside. There are a number of footpaths nearby and the property's deck/balcony makes you feel right in the heart of the natural landscape. The cottage is well furnished and equipped and the owners were very friendly and helpful. We fully intend to return.

Idyllic little retreat
Once again, we had a really lovely, restful stay at this property. Very Comfortable, and quiet. We spent this, our second visit quietly enjoying the sounds of the birds as we sat on the veranda sipping glasses of wine. The trees sheltered us from the wind which blew all week, yet we were unaffected in this lovely little haven. Thanks Phil and Jackie. See you again I hope.
