ローマ風呂や洞窟風呂、それに岩本院資料館といった貴重な物を見れて良かった。また、スタッフの対応も良く、気持ちよく過ごせた。
草履が新しすぎて足に馴染まず、少々痛かった。

The service was very friendly, they can speak some English as well :) The view on the ocean with Mt. Fuji in the distance was just amazing (but we were told that it is rare to see the mountain from here). Dinner was brought in our room and we got an explanation for the food, it tasted delicious. Breakfast is in the Hotels restaurant.
I was a little sceptical because of some of the other reviews but was pleasantly surprised, the Ryokan is really a very high quality hotel. The roman and cave onsen are nice, they switch times for women/men.
The location is great, you need to bring your luggage some meters through a crowded street but afterwards you are just some minutes from the main attractions of the island. Thus we went up the hill in daylight and in the evening again to see the lights from the Sea Candle.
Highly recommend, would come again!

This place was really an exceptional experience. The Japanese style room is really spacious and clean, the futon bed is made for you every day and it had a great view of Mount Fuji. Staff is extremely helpful and the breakfast is a real positive experience. The two onsen are beautifully decorated. The staff was happy to read my allergy card and adapt the breakfast menu to gluten free.
The reception closes at 9 pm so make sure to speak to them if you are going out at night. Security staff is available to let you in after 9.

My wife and I stayed at Iwamotoro for 6 nights and the experience is something we will cherish dearly. What we loved about Iwamotoro is not simply it’s long and interesting history, not the fact that it inspired a famous kabuki play, but the friendliness of the staff and how they would go out of their way to help us, making us feel at home.
Sitting on the coast of Enoshima, simply by looking out of the window from the ryokan, one would see the scene from famous ukiyo-e picture of Mt. Fuji. The traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner provided were also very delicious, well-priced and professionally served. Along with a comforting bath at the onsen, one would receive an experience of a noble during the Kamakura period.
The room is cleaned whenever requested, and the bedrolls and tables were laid out for us everyday in a timely manner. The swimming pool was also fully utilized and clean.
I have read previous comments about the island being inconvenient because it was inaccessible after ten. That is untrue. Although bus service stops at around 10:20, taxi is able to go on the island. One can also walk freely across the bridge at anytime of the day on and off of the island.
At first we didn’t know we were suppose to leave the room key at the front desk before leaving. This resulted in us waiting for quite some time for someone to open the door when we arrived late at night (around 11pm). However the next day we were informed of this before we left. Coincidentally, we were unfortunately stranded on the JR due to loss of power for 3 hours, and had to be evacuated and walk on foot to the station. When we managed to get back to Iwamotoro, it was already 1:30am, yet we found the staff still waiting for us with our key in hand. After this ordeal, we were cured with a late night/early morning onsen bath.

Very nice traditional Japanese-style hotel. In general, the room is quite big and clean. Good location on Enoshima island and it has an unusual cave bath and roman style bath, also there is a public outside swimming pool (but not so clean). The staff is polite and English speaking (but sometimes not too well). Japanese-style breakfast (but it's quite specific so you might not like it). We also had a nice view to the sea from our room.
It's quite an old building so sometimes you feel like everything is used for a long time, and you can find some dirty spots on surfaces. No shampoo/shower gel in the room.

Friendly and helpful staff, English speaking. Spacious rooms with beautiful finishings and lovely views of the ocean (sadly no view of Mt Fuji due to rain). Breakfast service was delightful and public baths very clean with long opening hours and well maintained.
No dinner restaurant service with no explanation - left very few food choices on the island and it was raining heavily!

The Iwamotoro is a wonderful Ryokan place. Great view to the Mt Fuji and a nice small beach for the locals. I liked the tiny graveyard next to our hotel, very traditional.
Too worn down, building needs an upgrade.

Beautiful location - we watched the sea at morning and night. It was so relaxing. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The onsens were so relaxing too.

The staff was so kind and helpful. They showed us to our room and around the facilities. The onsens were amazing- some of the best I've been to in Japan. Breakfast was great- so much food and such a great variety. They kept our bags during the day after we checked out while we explored. Would definitely recommend staying here. Easy to find, easy to access all of the activities on Enoshima Island.

We love that they prepare the bed for us while we were out for dinner and they also clean and fold the bed while we were having breakfast. The staff were all nice and accommodating.
Coffee is not included in the breakfast because it is a traditional japanese breakfast. We paid extra fee for coffee.

Location was good, staff very friendly and helpful, great food for dinner and breakfast. Onsen was very relaxing.
Futons were not very comfortable, needed more padding but still adequate.

A nice place with touch of history. For those who like Showa period nostalgic and vintage. Food was very good. The onsen baths were something special. Especially taking into consideration that they are cultural heritage. I liked to bath in these unusual places, like a cave with some sculptures, or a Roman bath with stained glass.
You would not like this place if you prefer shiny and modern style. Prepare yourself for vintage and naturally preserved atmosphere of Showa period.

The Hotel onsen spa were unique and beautiful, historical "classed", almost 1 century old, in "art deco" retro style.
Amazing experience.
And all the staffs as soooo kind, as well as the diner (included in the room set we ask) was super delicious and good quantity.
A dream!

The location and ambience of the ryokan was amazing! Such a convenient location on Enoshima island. The view from the room was breathtaking as well. Food was delicious and really displayed to local cuisine!

-excellent location (locate on Enoshima), very easy access, can see sea view from room
-very clean and tidy
-really nice staff, friendly and sweet
-breakfast was well prepared and great
-no WiFi in the room (only in public area)
-the facilities (including bath) are old, the hotel is from Showa era so understandable

The traditional style Japan room was great. The staff was amazing and very kind.
The price was a bit high especially compared to the other places around. Not being told that the island closes to the public at 22:00 was a huge problem. Also, if we would have known that the hotel paid for parking, we would have saved over $200. So more information given at check in would have been helpful. Also, no wifi is a killer because signal on the island is very limited.

Be aware that this is a SMOKING establishment. It’s not clear on trip advisor and other places but you can smell smoke in the elevators and hallways. Although our room was not bad, ashtrays are in the rooms and signs telling you not to smoke in bed etc.
Lovely staff and nice room with view of the water, although some strange window-film was peeling off and was a bit unsightly. Overall charming onsen experience although everything is a bit in need of a bit of TLC 😅 prices reflect this however so good value for an authentic ryokan!
One of the onsen tubs is in a cave with Torii gates and a brass Buddha statue - cool!
