We enjoyed our stay in this attractive oast house. Good games facilities. The house needs some tlc to make it fabulous. Pleased that the owner came round quickly with a replacement fridge/freezer when we couldn’t work the one there.

Beautiful location, spacious, host was very friendly and helpful left us out some treats and goodies. Only warning is the road leading up to the property and lack of Ubers and transport but that was expected, would definitely stay again.

A great property with fantastic views in a quiet location. The house is warm and the beds comfortable and clean. There was plenty of room for our party of 9 and a dog. The kitchen is well equipped enough space and to cook for our party. The enclosed garden is ideal for a dog, and having an afternoon drink in the sun. We had a good holiday and hope to be back next year.

Loved the cottage and its location - very convenient for Rye, Camber etc and v nice local walks & pub. Drive could do with a few less potholes, but understand fixing this is imminent. Bathrooms could do with some finishing touches but overall we were delighted with the whole setup. Hosts were very friendly, helpful and accommodating too.

Loved staying in an Oast House with its round rooms.
Loved staying in an Oast House with its round rooms. Huge open fire, beautiful countryside, enclosed garden for the dog, games room with pool table and table tennis outside. Big dining room table for family meals and lots of comfy, en-suite double bedrooms. There were only 6 of us due to the restrictions but it sleeps 10 comfortably. Rye is a lovely old town and the beach is massive and sandy. All ticks.

The Oast House is a great place if you want to get away from it all. Loads of space for everyone and a great games room in the basement. The property was very clean, beds comfortable and for me, two particularly welcome features, decent kitchen equipment and a properly enclosed garden for the dogs to roam in freely! David (the owner) was very friendly and helpful.
The local pub the Bell in Iden serves lovely food and the staff there are extremely friendly.
All in all a wonderful place for a break.

Very comfortable, clean bedrooms, two of which had en-suite, with soft clean carpets. Great sized dining table. Well planned kitchen with more than enough cutlery and crockery. Cosy lounge with easy access to the games room.
Superb views from most of the windows. The oast is surrounded by farmland. I should imagine good walking in the warmer months but we visited a during a cold, wet weekend in December. We certainly needed the roaring wood fire!
Easy to contact the helpful owners with reference to key collection

Lovely oast house, fully equipt. Beautiful rooms. We had cakes & milk in the fridge on arrival, plus a Bag of logs too. ( I would suggest bringing own coal / logs as we got through 3 bags in one day) Once we got the fire going we realised we were running low. I called David & he brought us 2 more Sat afternoon, £5 a bag. Bedrooms, sofas & front room very comfortable. Games room absolutely fab. Just one thing to be mindful of, The last leg of the journey is a track of about 0.5 mile and is in need of a bit of attention. I did mention to David, and is due to be attended too once we have better weather. This weekend was for my 50th birthday & way exceeded expectations. I have great memories, had a wonderful time, thankyou

Everything was perfect. Beds were comfortable, loads of seating, the dining area suited us brilliantly as we cooked in. The boys had great fun using the games room, the kitchen was lovely to sit and enjoy the amazing views.. We ate out just 10 minutes down the road in Rye which was stunning. We also visited Battle which was really lovely too and had its Christmas parade on, all very quaint... On the way home we stopped at the Ashford outlets for some real Christmas shopping (about 15-20 mins away) and managed to catch Black Friday deals... Fantastic.. We all had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Thornsdale Oast house to everyone.

Beautiful, comfortable house where we celebrated a birthday. There were 10 of us and we had no issues at all with size of rooms or facilities.
Just two things to note. On the instructions on how to get there, please state the name of the pub as we got a bit lost! Secondly, we found traces of mice in kitchen and upstairs left bedroom, which put us on edge a little, but hey, it's the countryside!!

This is a lovely house with lots of space and very well equipped throughout. Great kitchen, lots of bathrooms etc. The garden was totally dog proof - even for our very lively spaniel - which made a huge difference as she could sniff around and explore outside in total safety. Our only issue was that we hadn't realised prior to arrival that the property wasn't entirely suitable for an extremely fast moving toddler. It is open plan with quite a few stairs so someone had to be on suicide watch most of the time she was up and about which wasn't altogether relaxing. For slightly older children it was ideal. Lots of games, puzzles etc plus a dedicated games room with pool, bar footie plus table tennis in the garden. We would certainly revisit but not for a few years.
Lots to do locally. We went to Great Dixter, Rye town and a lovely walk along the coast from Rye Harbour, Hastings, Winchelsea and - favourite of the dog and the toddler - Camber Sands.
Would definitely recommend.

Good house for a family get together, plenty of space downstairs although we did think the bedrooms (apart from the one in the roundel) were a little small. Very well equipped kitchen but the house did feel a bit “tired”. A stair gate would be useful if there we’re toddlers in the party.

A beautiful property set in a lovely country surrounding.
Amenities were a fair distance so a car is definitely needed.
The oast house was clean and catered for all the family. The owners thought of everything needed from kitchenware to the games room, that was a real bonus. There were 10 of us in our family plus 2 dogs and we had loads of space in the house, good parking too.
A lovely retreat for us, and would certainly come again.
Rye is a lovely place to visit.

A very lovely and comfortable 5 star rated Oast house in a delightful rural location but easy car access to Rye, sights and all the gardens of Kent and the beaches. The dining room and kitchen are particularly worth mentioning if staying as a group as theres tons of space and an abundance of kitchen utensils! the dining table seats 10 comfortably and we took great joy in eating in every evening and bought some fine rye candles for the table ! The range cooker is great for cooking for large numbers. our Labradoodle loved his stay too. The owners are easily contactable and very helpful. I would highly recommend this gorgeous holiday home ! We will be returning soon.

My whole family (mixed ages) enjoyed the house and location.
My suggestions for improvement would be:
Yard needs weeding and additional relaxing garden furniture would enhance the stay. The front porch is in desperate need of a clean up.
Cleaning materials needed to ensure visitors can maintain the cleanliness. 2 dishwasher tablets does not cut it.
Deep clean to brighten the house.

Lovely cottage and great location. We all had a fab weekend. Could do with a good clean (lots of cobwebs) and don't rely on the Wi-Fi as hardly worked at all

This is a stunning unique property set in beautiful countryside near Rye. It is very well equipped and was ideal for our family reunion. The property is on various levels and we did take a stair gate which helped with 20 month old twins!
I would not hesitate to return.

An interesting property in an interesting area.
An interesting property in an interesting area. The property is large but cosy. The owners provide a range of maps and leaflets to help you decide what to do. If you don't what to do much at all, there is a generous outdoor area and and gas barbecue. Local pub a c. 20 minute (brisk) walk, but worth it for excellent beer and very good, and reasonably priced, food.

We had a very relaxing time with plenty of space for everyone.
Very peaceful and only wish we had known there was no table tennis equipment as the weather was lovely and we could have played outside even though it was March.
Loved the views from
Most of the bedrooms and also loved the open fire to sit round During the evenings.

We recently stayed at the Oast House for a birthday gathering.
We recently stayed at the Oast House for a birthday gathering. We all loved our stay there. It has such a homely feel. We had 8 in our party and there was lots of room. Plenty of places to hang out so you're not on top of each other and you don't have to all be in the same room. It has an outrageous amount of board games! If board games are your thing then it's a winner. There's also the games room area which is great. Can't beat an open fire too.
The surrounding area is lovely. Very quiet and peaceful. We were not disturbed at all.
We left a bag at the property which is annoying but the owners were great in sorting that out.
Would definitely recommend!
