We spent 4 nights, 11 people including children. The house is amazing, had everything we needed. The pool was great fun and a highlight of our stay. Close to town for pubs and shops, as well as nature walks. A wonderful place to spend time with loved ones in a special location away from the hustle and bustle.

Myself and my families my enjoyed two nights at the Manor. Had a wonderful stay. The children lived the pool. The private chef( one of the recommended) was amazing. House was big enough to accommodate 11 of us 4 of which were children. Really recommend this property if you want to be in a property with a lot of history. Thank you for making our stay memorable.

We booked the manor as a family group to celebrate my mums 80th birthday. Our group ranged from 7-80 and the manor suited us all. The accommodation was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. The pool was a lovely temperature and enjoyed by all. The walks around the gardens were lovely. We ate out 2 nights and ordered take away the 3rd. Uber taxis and food delivery drivers came to the manor. All communication with the owners was responded to quickly and professionally. We had a wonderful stay and would thoroughly recommend the manor to anyone who wants a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

We booked and paid the non-refundable price and told the property manager that we would be celebrating my mother’s 70th birthday. We also paid a large amount extra for late checkout which, at other nearby venues, has been free. We later informed them of the exact number of people attending (adults and a 3-4 babies) for about 3-4 hours on Sat afternoon. At this point the property manager revealed they’d be charging another large extra amount per person (babies would also be charged) for their visit because he is ‘running a business’. We explained that we would be using our own cutlery, that it was a dry event and that babies do not cause wear and tear to a property.
It feels like we were being charged a premium for a professional, luxury experience, however, the fridge and some of the kitchen cupboards were dirty. It said it had salt and pepper - these were broken and empty. The owner came around to ask for the champagne glasses as he had been told it was a dry event - which was awkward.
The owner didn’t want us to ruin the driveway as it had been raining. Therefore, we had to use the back driveway, which meant our guests all got lost as there is no signage or view of the house from the back. This meant one of us had to wait by the back gate and missed half of my mum’s birthday.
The bedrooms were very cold and there were not enough indoor heaters.
Overall, we definitely felt we had been overcharged and the property under-delivered. There are much better value properties nearby.

Amazing stay at Great Tangley Manor, gorgeous original features of the house made the week feel extra special.
Amazing space for all the family. Use of the tennis court and swimming pool everyday kept the whole family busy!
Would highly recommend to everyone!

A memorable weekend
The manor was an idyllic location for a hen weekend. One of our friends taught a yoga class in the morning in the beautiful grounds. We had some lovely meals in the impressive finding room and had a lovely afternoon in the pool.

Lovely Weekend Escape
We enjoyed Great Tangley Manor with two families (4 kids ages 4 - 7). The indoor pool, which was heated to 30 degrees, was a massive hit with our crowd. Two swims / day tired out our kids and allowed the adults to enjoy the many reception rooms with a glass or two of wine. Lovely place to spend a weekend and what a beautiful property!

Salida party - Great Tangley review
Overall, we had a really good experience and a wonderful 10-day stay at this 1000-year old Manor House. We were a family of 9 ranging from grandparents (age 68 and 70) parents in their 30’s and 40’s, two teenagers and a three year old. There was a plumbing issue with the bath in the master bedroom (broken tap) which couldn’t be fixed despite best efforts by Nicho and the owners but apart from that relatively minor inconvenience the house was perfect for our needs. The grounds are magnificent (enhanced by the moat and our very own family of ducks) and the indoor swimming pool was warm and very popular. The house itself is comfortable and interesting with plenty of nooks and crannies to lose yourself in. All five bedrooms were well furnished and comfortable. We would recommend GTM to any family who want to spend some relaxing quality time in a lovely part of southern England. Many thanks to Nicho for being readily available at all times when needed. A great staycation was had by all of us.

We spent a fantastic week at Great Tangley Manor and it was the ideal venue to relax with family and friends. The house and gardens are as great as the pictures suggest and is very well equipped with everything you would need. The indoor swimming pool was put to much use by both children and adults, especially during the mixed English summer weather. Great Tangley Manor is fully recommended and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you

Perfect extended family holiday in the countryside
Kids loved the pool. The grounds were superb just to potter around. Wonderful countryside on the doorstep. Great pub in the local village.

Fantastic ...
I am Brit that lives in the US. I wanted to find something quintessentially English to host family and friends at Spring Break. It needed to be easy to get to, big enough, comfortable and all weather (particularly for kids). I found it all at Great Tangley and more. The best part being the wonderful combination of history and modern comfort all mixed together.
Adult dinner for 14 in the 1,000 year old panelled dining room, BBQ in the courtyard, Easter Egg hunt in the gardens, kids in the pool; just fantastic.

Gorgeous manor located in the heart of Surrey!
I just returned from a weeklong stay with a literary group at Great Tangley Manor. The manor is in a wonderful location and has all the amenities to make you feel at home. I would highly recommend walking on the public footpaths that lead from the manor into the countryside, playing tennis on the manor tennis courts, going for a swim in the heated pool, reading in the library or drawing room, day trips into the Surrey Hills of Outstanding Beauty, and just soaking up the history of this 11th century manor.

Wonderful family base for a wedding
We had a wonderful stay at Great Tangley when we based ourselves there for our daughter's wedding which was nearby. It is a beautiful setting and we have got some memorable photos of the bride in the gardens. The house is well equipped and comfortable and very homely despite its size and we all had a great time. The manager was very helpful and welcoming - and everything ran smoothly.

A stunning 11th Century Manor House
We were stunned by this impressive 11th century Manor House. It was certainly more than we had anticipated. The house was warm and comfortable and it felt like home. We were all able to relax and enjoy the weekend of celebrations. A truly wonderful experience and we all had a splendid meal on the Saturday evening provided by the caterers. Thank you for making the weekend so memorable.

Stunning property for a birthday of a lifetime!
Frankly, words fail me...it was an honour and a privilege to turn 40 at Tangley, joining an impressive list of historic figures that preceded us. Tangley is stunning, a great place to go back in time whilst having all the modern conveniences you'd ever need. Thank you Nicho for making us so welcome and filling us in on the history of the place, it felt very special. Karen (Birthday Girl, Easter 2015)

Amazing house and wonderful people
Great Tangley Manor is a wonderful house with great facilities. We all had a fantastic stay, everyone was impressed, the photos do not capture the true beauty and atmosphere this place has. The people at GTM couldn't do more to accommodate our requirements, having additional guests for a day. The people were lovely and so helpful. Would highly recommend this as a holiday house for anyone!

60th Birthday Family Weekend
A very enjoyable weekend at Great Tangley Manor with the family, celebrating my husband's 60th birthday. The house is exactly as described. Very spacious, very clean, superbly equipped for a large gathering and extremely comfortable. I can't think of anything it doesn't have that you could want. The grounds are beautiful too and the swimming pool is large for a private pool and reasonably warm. The grandchildren loved it and our son and daughter in law played tennis and gave the court the thumbs up. The house is so close to civilisation yet feels in the heart of the countryside, so it was perfectly situated for our family to get together in nice surroundings without anyone having to travel very far from London.
I would recommend this house as being just the ticket for a gathering of any age group. There is so much space in every room that you can't possibly get on top of each other. All of our children agreed that it was far and away the best house that has ever been hired by our family, and we have hired quite a few! It was a shame not to have met Nicho, due to his being away on annual leave, because everyone raves about him in the reviews. But he was very helpful in the first instance of making sure our needs were met by providing extra beds for children. Maybe next time....

Family Christmas at Great Tangley Manor
We stayed at Great Tangley Manor for 5 days over Christmas having flown in our children and grandchildren from Australia, Thailand and the USA - a total of 9 adults, 3 young children and 1 infant. The property is absolutely amazing, very clean and beautifully maintained. Nicho, the manager, was extremely helpful in accommodating our two preview visits and facilitating our moving in. The history of the property is fascinating and one can almost feel the presence of King John (with a wench from the village!) and other royalty who have stayed there and having Christmas dinner in the incredible dining room was a wonderful experience. The grandchildren loved the indoor swimming pool and some of the more energetic ones among us made use of the tennis court. The living rooms, bedrooms and kitchen are very spacious and all very well appointed.
All in all, the perfect venue for our family reunion and we would highly recommend Great Tangley Manor.

Amazing time at stunning house
We'd all highly recommend staying at Great Tangley Manor - it's a wonderful house with so much history. Genuinely stunning. Great service from Nicho and the owners. And a fantastic pool too. The only downside was that we couldn't stay longer!

A beautiful house for a weekend break
12 of us stayed at GTM on the weekend of the 16th May 2014. The property is stunning, spotless and well worth every penny. The staff and owners were incredibly helpful from the day of my initial enquiry, to the day we checked out. All of us said the pictures on the website did not do the property justice. GTM had everything we needed and anything it didn't have, the estate manager offered to get us. I cannot recommend it enough.

Stunning property
What a beautiful property! Properties this nice are hard to find.
We stayed for the weekend and used it as the base for our wedding preparations. Upon arrival it was clean and well-maintained given that we had viewed it about 9 months earlier. The house was big enough that everyone had there own space but was so much better than staying in a hotel with other guests. The property is a fantastic combination of modern appliances and character. The library lounge and dining room are wonderful.
Highly recommended - stay here if you can!

An absolutely wonderful time.
I hired Great Tangley Manor for a hen do, I was looking for something a bit different for the bride to be and this was just perfect. The manor itself is stunning with all the modern amenities that you could need. It had the real 'wow' factor on arrival for everyone. Set in beautiful grounds, with the weather being on our side we couldn't of had more fun. We used 'Scrumptious Catering' from the recommended list and they we're also fantastic.
I would highly recommend to all!

Perfect for a family celebration
We couldn't have found a better place to celebrate a special birthday. Our January weekend was both luxurious and cosy, grand yet comfortable. With such fabulous on-site facilities we had no need to venture anywhere else, leaving us full opportunity to enjoy each other's company in the spacious reception rooms. And the beds were the comfiest ever! We had superb assistance and attention from the owners, who went out of their way to ensure that our stay was enjoyable and memorable. We loved it.

Great Tangley Manor - Not to be Missed!
Great Tangley Manor - what a wonderful house! The photographs on the website gave us a flavour of Great Tangley Manor and in reality we were not disappointed - it has a wow factor! It is full of history which is fascinating and creates a wonderful ambience. As a family we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and being able to spend time together in such a wonderful house. Although steeped in history, the house offers an excellent combination of old with modern day facilities. The beautiful dining room allowed us to enjoy lovely family meals. The modern well equipped kitchen made catering for twelve relatively straightforward! The garden and the grounds are very attractive, well looked after and looked especially nice in the autumn colours. The house is extremely spacious and easily accommodated twelve of us. The reason we were staying at Great Tangley Manor was to attend my son's wedding at nearby Gate Street Barn. It was ideal for this purpose. Nicho, the manager for Great Tangley Manor, was very helpful and answered any questions promptly and was very willing to offer any assistance if necessary. We had a wonderful stay at Great Tangley Manor and would definitely recommend it to friends or relatives. We just now need another excuse to come and stay again! Thank you.

Amazing home for a long weekend
12 family members stayed for a long weekend instead of a trip overseas. The stay was amazing. We almost felt the history walking in to the home - even one of the teenagers got excited about history! Everything is beautifully presented and we were able to relax in all the spacious lounges. The kitchen is a great size and the round table in the conservatory acted as a family magnet, as kids and parents came, ate and crept away for a dose of reading or watching the secret TV. Our kids loved the pool, which is a terrific size and depth. The weather was a little mixed so we spent quite a long time playing in the water. All the bedrooms were very comfortable and the whole home was spotless. We would strongly recommend this amazing Manor house for a wonderful family gathering and a place to hang your hat over a relaxing weekend. Terrific.

A beautiful 11th Century moated manor house.
My close family and friends stayed at Great Tangley Manor for four nights and held my wedding reception there. Without the help of the manager, Nicho, and his family, the occasion would not have been so memorable or so problem free. Because of Nicho and his family's contacts in the area, and thorough understanding of the challenges we faced (we all live outside of the UK and needed to organize our stay via SKYPE), in addition to the care that they take of this beautiful manor house (and all who stay there), my own family and friends enjoyed our days, as well as our private party thoroughly. The surroundings are lovingly maintained and provided the opportunity for romantic walks and fun activities (on the day of the reception, Nicho set up croquet on the lawn, which provided much entertainment for our guests). The manor house itself is a treasure: each room is themed to suit an epoch, so by walking through the house you travel from the 16th Century right through to the 21st Century. Of particular note is the Queen Anne bedroom (furnished in lavishly in homage to the 17th Century) and the modern kitchen with up to date facilities including inbuild Nespresso coffee machine and stunning glass house conservatory/breakfast room. which can be lit up at night, that looks out onto the courtyard. Great Tangley Manor is a short drive from Guildford and all the conveniences of a major town, which meant that catering all the needs of family and friends (from transport to food), and organizing the wedding reception there, was easy to do. I can not recommend the property, the management and the location highly enough: we will be returning there to celebrate our wedding anniversary in the very near future.

Graham H, wonderful Tangley
What a wonderful stay we all had 11 people in close proximity for a whole weekend but Tangley provides plenty of space for all. Elegant and yet homely we all slotted right in and relaxed the moment we stepped through the door. The old manor has bags of charm we felt like royalty seated for dinner at the long table and yet as if we were all at home in the delightfully large kitchen dining area.
We had a splendid long walk to discover the local area and a welcome indoor swim on chilly day. The bedrooms and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. In all we had a really great stay and would definitely recommend Tangley to others.

Perfect retreat
I spent my birthday weekend at Great Tangley with a group of friends. The house was great -- big enough for everyone to have their own space when needed, but also plenty of cosy gathering places, like the library and dining room. The gardens are stunning... even when covered with snow as was the case during our stay. I highly recommend it and also was very happy with the fantastic dinner from Kalm Kitchen, one of Great Tangley's approved caterers.

Money Well Spent for a Luxury/Rockstar Weekend
ITS BETTER THAN THE PHOTOS!!
We had such and amazing time in this absolutely gorgeous and well-put together vacation property. All our friends were even more pleased with the place when they arrived and saw that is is actually more gorgeous than in the photos. The management was reachable whenever we had a question or needed anything and they thought of everything (except possibly a more comprehensive music system-where is the BASS?).
It was fantastic value for money-worth every penny. We wanted to stay longer and may be back sooner than we thought.
BOOM!

Great Tangley Manor is one of those places that lives up to it's hype and delivers on its promise. The e-brochure is detailed and accurate, the property is well maintained, offers a mixture of heritage but with modern convenience and allows for an intimate stay with plenty of space for individuals as well as the group. We were a party of 13 and it worked very well for us all. We would return if the occasion arose.
Location is close to shops/restaurants etc but the property enjoys seclusion. There is plenty to do locally and the owners can and will help with ideas and planning.
All in all, a great place to work, rest or play.

It can be said that Great Tangley Manor has been blessed with every possible advantage , from its idyllic rural setting so close to civilisation (only minutes from the centre of Guildford and 40 minutes by train from central London) to the rambling beauty of the historic house itself, decorated and maintained to the highest standard . It was the perfect place for our family reunion (three birthdays) following a wedding the previous day and the caterers recommended by Nicho the property manager, did a splendid job providing delicious food and discreet service. The house was able to accommodate 14 of us in the main part of the building and 4 in the owners wing (ages from 8 to 70). Each room reflected a different decorative style which was much admired by all and particularly our foreign guests who loved the beautiful curtains, and each bed had luxurious feather duvets and lovely bedding.(synthetic duvets supplied on request) The up to date bathrooms were also in different styles . The amazing panelled dining room with its long table was perfect for the evening meals and birthday buffet luncheon while the kitchen and conservatory so beautifully equipped were ideal for breakfast each day. We were lucky enough to see canadian geese as well as swans whilst walking round the beautifully maintained gardens with the moat and lake and the constant surprise round each corner of yet another sculpture or statue in stone or twisted willow. To sum up we can say that from the very warm welcome from Nicho, on arrival to our departure we were entranced and enveloped in the magic of Tangley that lasted the entire 3 days of our stay.We would heartily recommend Great Tangley as the perfect place to stay for a large party, all our questions were answered and our every need catered for and we all hope to return one day.The owners , whom we had the pleasure of meeting briefly and of course Nicho are to be congratulated on their attention to detail and obvious love for this delightful rental property.

I spent a most enjoyable weekend at Tangley Manor with a group of friends. With guests travelling from many different locations, It was easily accesible by BR or car. The property was spotlessly clean, and everything that we needed was provided. We arranged for meals to be delivered, and the standard of the food was very high. We loved the house so much that we didn't venture out, only to walk around the grounds which were beautiful. I would recommend Great Tangley as an ideal venue for those wanting to relax and unwind in comfort.

A fantastic unique place to stay if you really want somewhere that will make a big impression. The house is a great mix of old and new with each room having its own feel and theme. I stayed here the night before my wedding with the bridal party and it really completed the experience, leaving us rested and ready for the big day. Nico at Great Tangley couldn't do enough to take care of us, giving us a really personal tour of the house before leaving us to settle in - just the right mix of professional and personal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the house to anyone looking for something special - everyone who visited was bowled over by it.

We heard about Great Tangley from an enthusiastic previous visitor and thus had extremely high expectations. I’m pleased to confirm that these were more than met by the quality of the venue and the excellent service.
Being able to have the food for the weekend delivered in advance was fantastic. How wonderful to arrive at the Manor on Friday evening to discover our online delivery had arrived safely, been unpacked for us and the wine was already chilled.
The quality of the furnishings especially the bathrooms far exceeds what you can see from the website.
We enjoyed walking into the Surrey hills from the venue and not having to use our cars for the entire weekend.
The highlight of my weekend was getting to Tangley early so I was able to show the others around. I loved the amazement on their faces as they saw the fabulous bedrooms and bathrooms or the grand dining room. No one guessed where the TV was hidden and it was with great glee I revealed the location.
It is a breath-taking venue for an unforgettable weekend with friends or family. I’m already planning my next stay. Just don’t forget your camera – no one will believe your tales of oak panels, Tudor windows, marble baths, moats and walled gardens without photographic proof!

What a fantastic surprise Tangley Manor was - very special yet welcoming and comfortable for all of the family. Nicho ensured we had everything we needed and although we were just 1 family treating ourselves, the setting, location and level of service would be perfect for larger family reunions or celebratory house parties. Our only regret is we were only there for 5 days!

We recently stayed at Great Tangley to celebrate a friends forthcoming marriage. A truly wonderful place, I must stress that the website pictures really doesn't do it justice, we were all amazed at how beautiful the house and grounds were, everyone of us loved it. Beautifully presented, it offered us everything we needed for a weekend getaway for 15 people. It has barbeque facilities, use of an indoor pool (which was fabulous!), wonderful Victorian Gardens to walk in. We took full advantage of the beautiful oak dining room - if you want to cater yourself everything is available, I believe one can arrange for caterers to come to the property, which I think is a brilliant idea. A very relaxing and fun time was had by all. Thoroughly recommend Great Tangley, our contact, Nicho, couldn't have been more helpful, any query large or small, he was able to answer for us. Our thanks to Nicho, Glyn and Anne for a wonderful stay. Thank you, we shall be back!!
