Bar area and reception was very nice, staff were all great!
Room was not the best! Lots of cracks in the bathroom, tiles need replacing walls needed a coat of paint, not a four star room

Always stay here for ascot racing. Ideally located and a great hotel
Breakfast on the first day wasn’t nice. We were shown to a table and no one took our tea/coffee order we had to ask them after 15 minutes and the sausages were raw and undercooked. However on the second day this was rectified and all was good

Most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The pool was crazy busy with children on the night we arrived (school holidays) but early morning was blissfully quiet and the option to go into the outside, hot water area was a delight. Being amongst the trees and nature whilst in a pool. The spa, sauna , steam room areas were very nice.
No decaf coffee beans available when we ordered one from the bar - only instant granules No decaf coffee pods in the room either although there was a kettle stored in a cupboard and a sachet of granules along with tea bags.
The safe worked but was hanging off it's hinge. Obviously not reported by previous occupants. We asked about newspaper and the afternoon reception staff took an order only to be told in the morning that they can't get papers delivered so don't supply them.
The room was overlooked by a care home on opposite side of the road but no blinds so had to close the curtains to get changed. The floor areas around the swimming pool were extremely wet particularly when it was busy with the children but no sign of anyone mopping up the excess water. Maybe they came at different intervals.

Convenient location for our needs. Did not use the spa. Room was close to reception with no stairs. Fresh towels each day.
Restaurant was good, but pricey.
The room furniture needs updating. Very soft mattress on beds. Shower was over the bath, so difficult to manoeuvre if one has mobility problems. Our room was situated above the service yard, so deliveries coming and going. Cooking smells coming through the window.

It was a place to sleep and have breakfast the next day
Friendly staff
Nothing to dislike

Everything, the character, the welcoming staff, the amenities in the very spacious room. The comfy bed and soft white towels and robes. I loved it.
The seating positioned around the jacuzzi isn’t ideal when trying to walk past when there are other guests sat there.

Breakfast was ok. Eggs where cold and beans too.
Xmas decorations are beautiful
More staff around the hotel.
Trays with food on left in the corridor we had to mention to reception in 2 occasions.
Also a musky smell thought out the hotel.

Great location for Lapland UK, beautiful hotel with great pool facilities.
Room was a little dated however very comfortable for 4 of us.

Big spacious room.
I would say this hotel is more child tolerant than child friendly as I thought when booking. Seemed every family with kids had been put in the furthest away part of the hotel with us, we had a very long walk to our room. And pool times for children are limited which we didn’t know when booking.
Also only one plug in the room and with two iPads for the kids and two phones it was quite a challenge. There was even a standing lamp that we joked was for decoration as no plug near it and not plugged in.

Lovely grounds, Heritage-style building, the kids loved it
Gated entry with secure parking
Could have has more breakfast buffet choice. I would have preferred scrambled rather than a fried egg

The bar food was nice.
My room was very dated/tired, with a hole in the wall and a damaged light fitting but it was ok - not what I expected for a 4-star hotel at all.
Room service was declined as hadn't placed a card on file, this has never been an issue before. I had to go to the bar to order myself and asked for room service but it was now a £8 tray charge as opposed to £5.00. I refused to pay it and ate in the bar in my gym wear.
The steam and sauna area very tired, the steam smells a little damp and absolutely no additive as advertised, likewise with their 3-stage shower.
I opted out of marketing, AS ALWAYS DO - But yet I have been contacted to leave a review.

Did not like the fact air conditioning in room was broken and it was 40 degrees in room for two nights and they didn’t care. Offered a broken fan.i complained in writing and they said they would not do anything to compensate!
There were drunken residents swearing and being abusive on arrival and staff did nothing . Complained and they did nothing!
Management response to complaint regarding broken air conditioning was sorry about that ! Their failure to deal with complaint was disrespectful and quite not fair due to how awful the heat was in room.

Saff was friendly and helpful. My wife and I enjoyed the pool and sauna facilities and also enjoyed the breakfast.
In the hydrotherm, some of the small tiles looked abit discoloured and worn above the waterline.

Took 20 minutes to check out as only one staff member on reception

Free parking and the hotel had a nice pool. Our son had a lot of fun swimming.
The carpets were stained, there were scuff marks on the walls, the tap was rusty and plug surrounded by soap scum, the air conditioning was loud but did nothing and the door lock was broken. One of the receptionists treated us like we were an inconvenience.

We had a good experience with the dining staff, and Tanya at the spa area, but the general experience was not great.
Sienna at the reception was very unprofessional and grumpy receptionist. Offering us the wrong room to what was ordered and the promised comforts missing from the room, and we had to make several requests for them. The rooms were freezing 🥶 cold.

Bed was very comfortable and husband loved the shower. Grounds very beautiful. Weather was hood so nice to be able to be outside for drinks. Bar staff were very helpful and friendly.
Although the food was good both that and drinks very expensive! Husband is disabled and room with walk in shower far too far from reception and dining areas.

The hotel, in general, is great.
We had to wait until, virtually, dinner time to have the bed for our kid.

Historic building. Lovely setting. Ideal for family. Dog friendly.
Decor perhaps getting a little tired
