The location and free car parking, coupled with the very convenient rail access for Oxford and Didcot makes the Railway Inn at Culham an excellent place to stay. The satisfying breakfasts and evening meals, served by helpful and friendly staff added to the satisfaction and value of our stay in June 2024. We had a quiet comfortable room on the ground floor. The rail line is busy day and night but we did not find it intrusive and always slept well.

Good staff, easy parking and a good location for where I needed to be overnight.
The hotel/pub delivered all as expected at a fair price.

It did the job, I enjoyed my dinner
The WiFi was unreliable in my room, bathroom was small.

Very friendly staff. A good bar and a good breakfast. Spacious comfortable room. You can get to it by train too. I like it being off the beaten track.
Well, my room was right next door to the train track so the whole place rumbles when a goods train passes through.
8.0
Comfy room, breakfast was excellent, staff were friendly and attentive to guests needs.
A little noisy due to busy train line adjacent to the Railway Inn, hence the name

The staff are so friendly and accommodating.
The beds are very comfortable and good quality soft clean fresh bedding.
Lovely and clean.
Maybe little dated but the reason we choose this place for our visit to Oxford it was the perfect location with all of our needs met. Having the station on the door step gave the option of travel.
The area is very peaceful ( train noise occasionally but very brief) friendly neighbourhood.
Nothing

The food is excellent, with lots of choice
All was fine

Clean, comfortable room with great shower. Very pleasant landlady who also served up a lovely breakfast.
Room slightly small (but adequate). No chef for evening meal.

Ambience was good
The kettle was not clean. Breakfast was just alright. 1 of the light in the room was not working

It is an effective location, next to the train station. The room is comfortable. The breakfast is good. The atmosphere is very local.
The wifi connection did not work on my laptop.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Paying £100 per night for a room which needed decorating, a creaky bed, too light a duvet for the time of year and a musty shower room.

The location was very good and the food excellent
I expected the train noise which was fine, but the road noise was more disturbing than i expexted.

If your not into Railways you might find here a bit noisy - but it is called the 'Railway Inn'
Food good value for the cost

The room was very clean and quite spacious and all facilities were perfectively satisfactory. All staff were very pleasant and welcoming and the food was excellent and extremely well presented. Outside were two attractive seating areas where we could sit and relax over a drink in the evening and although the trains going by were very close they did not present any problem or cause a nuisance or disturb our sleep.
Nothing. ( For some reason our in-car sat nav would not accept the inn's postcode but once we arrived in Culham we located the station quite easily although it is some way from the actual village. )

We had our evening meal and breakfast and both were exceptional; perfect home cooked food; was inexpensive and the staff were very friendly. No problems with checking in; room was clean and extremely adequate for our 1 night stay
We were the only ones having an evening meal and breakfast which seemed a bit strange but i'm sure once they have finished renovating they will be having a lot more guest. that did mean we had 1:1 service!

Ive visited before so knew the place.
Being a railway person I paritcuarly like the location by a busy main line, and its situation beside a Brunelinspired historic station.the thundering frieight trains into the night are an added interest for me,but would no doubt turn others off.an excellent cooked breakfast in the cosy pub saloon.
Non railway people need to be aware of the noise from the passing trains and also the fact that the location is rather isolated ,well away from the local village and indeed Abingdon,so a car is advisable, though of course there is a local train service between Oxford and Didcot.,albeit hourly at present.

A lovely large room, with a really comfortable bed. Clean and tidy and, despite being a station inn (as in beside a railway station) there was minimal noise or vibration form the passing trains (I slept with the window open on night with no real disruptions). Breakfast was also really good, and all the staff really friendly.
I fully intend to use this hotel in the future for visits to Oxford and the local area,
I honestly cannot think of any areas that they could improve on. For a classic station inn, this place was perfect, the price for the room was good and the whole experience was really good.

Friendly staff, lovely owner, brilliant ale and friendly locals.
I had steak dinner and then FE breakfast, both served with locally sourced ingredients from nearby butcher. Really good cooking and excellent value.
Room was separate to main pub so basically had my own place with a very short walk to the pub. :-)
The room was heated by electric rads - a lot of them, might be a tad cold in winter.

Very nice old traditional pub, which did a lovely evening meal and breakfast.
Stayed for one night on a work trip , great location.
Next to a train station but was surprisingly quiet at night and in the morning.
Small but comfortable double room , very clean. Had a good nights sleep.
Nice outdoor areas which would be lovely in the summer.
Great host, very friendly and welcoming.
Would stay again if in the area.
TV in room could be a little larger.
