Great pub good food and friendly staff

Good location

Stairs round the back are quite dark and the bedroom door locked but didn’t fully meet at the bottom

Great food, quaint old traditional local pub

Sara and team were all really welcoming, rooms were clean and had everything needed. Evening meal was superb and the breakfast the next morning was exceptional. Really quaint friendly traditional local pub - will use again

All the staff were excellent, friendly,

All the food was very good , freshly prepared and cooked.

The noise from the bar below our room but being a very old building that was inevitable.

2 night stay with friends.

Friendly staff and owner. Good sized room (room 1) and bathroom although a little short on headroom (I'm 6'3''). Breakfast good and evening meal very good as well. Good selection of beer!

Access to rooms a bit tricky via steps at the back. OK if you don't have any mobility issues. The rooms are directly above the bar so are quite noisy while the pub is open. Not a problem unless you want to go to sleep early (before closing time!) It is a pub after all!

Breakfast was on request, staff were pleasant and helpful but didn't introduce themselves LDiff

Difficult access to bedrooms no evidence of health and safety measures including fire regulation

beautiful place and kind owner.

A pub with history. Kind pub owner who even helped to arrange taxi. Breakfast was delicious and tasty. we could chose room we wanted.

No answer to my phone calls or knocks on return to the property after I had been out for a walk following breakfast. check taxi price before journey starts.

The most amazing full English breakfast and dinner exceeded expectations so well worth a visit.

Warm and cosy; friendly staff; nice atmosphere.

Access to the rooms via an outside wooden stairs wouldn’t be suitable for everyone.

The mattress was very uncomfortable. The area at the back of the pub leading to the rooms was very untidy and could do with some TLC.

Very friendly owners could not do enough for you. The location was really nice, and the room was clean.

Mattress on bed very lumpy but other than that the room was clean and adequate for a one night stay.

Lovely rooms, very friendly landlady and leisurely breakfast in the pub. Location was super.

We loved everything about The Rose and Crown. We took two lovely rooms with en-suites (the larger room had a big walk in shower and the other had a bath with over shower). All four of us slept like logs.

Love you location but a poor night sleep due to the bed

The breakfast was excellent, and the location was beautiful

The mattress was extremely old and uncomfortable, with springs poking through. The carpet was very old and worn. Otherwise, cleanliness was good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rose and Crown - would recommend

Brilliant full English breakfast. Great local real ales. Lovely landlady and staff. Historic unspoiled building (though mind your head if you are tall) in a beautiful Sussex village.

We couldn't work the Roman blinds on the bedroom window.

Comfortable, friendly pub in a beautiful village.

Lovely friendly pub in a beautiful village. We stayed here for a family party nearby. It was the Jubilee weekend so the pub was really busy but we couldn't have been made more welcome. The room was comfortable, well equipped and spotless and our evening meal delicious and well catered for vegetarians. Breakfast the following morning was excellent and we felt well looked after by our lovely hosts !

Lovely relaxing place would stay again when working in area next time.

Rooms was very comfortable and clean. Pub meal was lovely and staff very friendly.

Not a real issue but parking was a little tight for my work van.

The Owners were just lovely, nothing too much trouble , highly recommend .

400 year old pub with rooms. lovely staff, great accommodation and facilities - shower was best I’ve ever had ! Breakfast delicious , local free range eggs , great sausages and bacon locally sourced. Location perfect.

A pub stay that exceeded my expectations! Great food and friendly staff.

The food was excellent, the staff was very friendly, and the rooms were lovely! We’ve stayed at 5 pubs across the county over the last year and this was the best by miles. Would highly recommend and we will revisit as soon as we can!

Just remember to book a table if you want dinner there!

Could easily have been worth it…. disappointed

Great location for the village and it’s a wonderful ‘old world’ pub Bathroom was clean

The room felt unclean, lots of dust in and on the wardrobe & carpets not vacuumed. Lacked hot drinks, no milk. Bath towels, bed and sheets were fine.
