Comfortable, clean and well managed hotel. Some chairs and carpet showed signs of wear but this only added to the ambience of the beautiful mature building from which we took home a happy and lasting memory.

Ok , food and drink grossly over priced compared to other hotels. The dining menu was terrible no steak or grill choices , ordered fish n chips which turned out to be a few frozen chips and a frozen fish , not what I would expect for a top end price. Rooms are clean but very tired. Place is under staffed. I had my team there 14 of us and they shut the bar at 9.50 even though plenty of drinks being purchased.

Stayed twice in two weeks first for business, I had a beautiful room , the following week I stayed with my wife but as hotel full I got a room in what we called ’steerage’ the room was so hot it was uncomfortable even with windows open and for some reason we both felt unwell staying in that room but felt better when we went upstairs.
Both occasions of stay the rest of the hotel was very good .
I think one of the bar staff could do with a check on his attitude as it was commented by a couple of colleagues but this was very small and didn’t really affect me. the hotel and staff are great and I would definitely stay again.

The hotel was lovely as it’s in a great location and has a nice garden area but some things in the spa wasn’t so great foot spa wasn’t working one of the pool was also not in use most importantly there was no drinking water in the spa area you had to go out in the cold to get water also on the website it’s said bath robes were included but it wasn’t you had to pay extra to get one. in the end I got ill however restaurant, food and service was great. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend it.

Hotel location excellent lovely garden spirit 1. 1/2 miles from then centre east to get to bus taxi room comfortable clean bed room fine. Bathroom needs upgrading hallway leading to room new carpet needed & decoration needed I’m sure there’s nicer rooms so would upgrade if stayed again main bar restaurant first evening rooms were very cold next day little warmer Restaurant evening dinner menu Not Good at all the menu certainly was not befitting to the type of property / hotel very sub standard quality of evening dinner 2/10 however breakfast very good quality food although could have done being slightly warmer - hot plates were cold - so the evening dinner menu let this hotel down terribly

Gorgeous building, slightly tired but charming old interior. Well cleaned. Breakfast was just average, self service hot food that was only warm and new toaster needed - options were either anaemic or burnt. Bed was very comfortable except pillows. Didn't like how dogs were allowed in the dining areas while we're were eating.

Staff is lovely and friendly First room was smelly, had to change room which at least did not smell. Overall needs a deep clean and investment.
Breakfast: No hot chocolate, no boiled egg!!
That is very poor service for a 4* hotel.

Fantastic hotel. Amazing older grand hotel. Beautiful interior. Clean, staff good.

Stayed for an anniversary in a suite. Huge room with four-poster bed. Staff were very friendly and professional especially the breakfast team.
Beautiful property with an excellent spa and golf course.

We love it here old worldly lots of history. Good food and good spa. It has all you need.

Lovely stay, nice welcome from reception staff.
Building is old but in good condition and adds to the character.
Bed was incredibly comfortable.
The bathroom wasn’t very clean and the window in our room was broken so wouldn’t close and we were on the ground floor.
2.5
Good hotel set in lovely grounds and reasonably close to Stratford town centre (£6 Uber). Use of Spa included and breakfast was good.

A delightful place to stay in Stratford. Beautiful building and lovely grounds with a golf course and spa centre on site.
The hotel is nice and the staff are helpful and friendly.
Food in the restaurant is ok, though service can be a little slow. The spa is a little tired and had some sections out of service, though overall a nice place to spend a couple of nights.

Great stay highly recommend. Spa changing rooms were dirty though and staff not particularly helpful. Despite that I had a relaxing stay, loved the gardens and very comfortable bed.

An appalling experience. I booked a suite for £229. On the pictures it looked great. The hotel is amazing outside but inside its terrible. Ive stopped in better Travel Lodges and cleaner hotels on lads holidays in Mallorca for the same price for a week!
Firstly there was what looked like blood splatters from an alfred hitchcock film in the room, broken light fitting, bed was resring on what looked like chip board. The room should have had a bath in the room. There was mould in the bathroom and that had a standard bath. Dust on every surface, spatters on the mirror. Decaying window frames.
To make matters worse I went back onto hotels.com to check the room photos of my booking. Turns out they had inflated the price. The exact room was now on at £149 per night.
Thats called price gouging and is illegal. They gave me an immediate refund and we left.
Instead we went to The White Swan in Statford upon avon centra which was amazing. Easy to park behind it too. That was £230 a night. We later found out if we book direct we can book it cheaper and will definitely be going back!
For £229 Id expect minimum 4 star hotel with it not falling a part. We got a 1 star experience that you’d expect from going to some crap bnb in Blackpool for £29 a night.

Lovely location and the swimming pool is lovely and was empty when we stayed.
The only negative review is that the breakfast area has removed its coffee machine and replaced with flasks of pre-made filter coffee that wasn't great. We asked if we could purchase a nicer cup of coffee but they said no as the area that sold coffees didn't open until 10am.
The stay was perfect but we do like a decent coffee with breakfast and on our previous 2 stays they did have a coffee machine that was wonderful.

Bed was awful. Two single beds pushed together on different levels. Not what I expect in a superior suite. Spa is superb. Beautiful hotel. Bathroom was grubby. Needs new sealant.

We stayed for one night in a suite. The hotel is grand and impressive however the room was a little dated and there were damp patches in the bathroom.
There was no shelf in the shower to rest your shampoo/conditioner/shower gel which would stop you from having to leave your toiletries on the floor. Just a simple addition really.
Also, in this day and age I think plug sockets should contain USB charging points too.
A lovely hotel overall, just a little tired and old fashioned

We booked a dog-friendly room and checked upon booking if the dog was allowed into the restaurant and bar. We were told he could come in the bar but only in the restaurant for breakfast.
When we arrived we asked again about the dog and they said the same. We ate in the bar, the food was really good but it was a bit like being in a golf clubhouse with rowdy blokes drinking and swearing.
We used the Spa facilities which were very nice although a lot of the facilities were not working. The chap on the reception to the Spa was incredibly rude and unpleasant.
We went for breakfast the following morning and again checked if it was ok for the dog to come in with us, the receptionist said yes absolutely. When we sat down to breakfast we were immediately (but politely) asked to leave and sit in the bar. That was fine, we actually went outside to eat which was lovely.
When I went to the buffet, I overheard the Duty Manager complaining about us to her colleague - for taking the dog into the restaurant. I did interject to say we had been told to sit there and she just snapped at me, which I thought was very unprofessional.
We had to pay a supplement of £30 for the dog and unlike other hotels there was nothing provided for the dog at all. This hotel is NOT dog friendly. There is not even a bin in the garden for dog waste.
Parts of the hotel were quite dilapidated and, with the exception of the staff in the bar, we found the staff rude and unfriendly.
We wouldn’t stay again.

Anniversary trip, lovely big room, beautiful hotel and lovely spa. 15 min walk to the town, across a country path

Public areas such as restaurant, bar, gardens were excellent. Room and leisure centre were both in need of at least redecorating if not refurbishment. Very helpful first interaction at check-in, not so efficient second time, and the guy in the leisure centre was on auto-pilot, clearly bored and not interested. Has the potential to be outstanding, but needs just a little bit of money spent on the rooms and the Spa. Shouldn’t be coming here and thinking Premier Inn rooms are better!

Such a grand mansion! Beautiful gardens, glorious architecture and history to this building and rooms very comfortable. The bar and dining spaces were magnificent spaces- very British in styling and lovely oil paintings adorning the huge walls. Loved this place.

The building was beautiful and felt utterly peaceful despite being conveniently located near the city centre. It made for a memorable stay during our trip to Stratford.

Lovely bed, food, gardens and buildings. Couple of maintenance issues around the hot tubs

Lovely dog friendly hotel. Lots of outdoor area for dog walking. The staff were very welcoming and the food was great.

It is a lovely property, however in need of a little tlc. Staff are friendly, although not being able to get a bottle of water delivered to your room at 8pm is not good. Breakfast, food is good but split over there areas no so good. Gardens and beautiful walks around the hotel are wonderful.

Lovely stay at the Welcombe hotel. Right on the outskirts of town, only a 5 minute drive from the hotel to town centre yet feels miles away as the grounds of the hotel are so peaceful. Had the family room which was a king size bed and the couch was a pull out bed. Had use of pool and gym facilities. Only down side is that kids swim time is 10-12 and 4-6, which does make it difficult if you’re trying to do some sightseeing while also catering to the kids desire to swim every day as well. Had a lovely time and would definitely recommend

Stunning hotel will defiantly return

Sadly we were in a room that had an interconnecting ( locked ) door to another occupied room. This meant that there wasn’t any real sound proofing and so we could hear everything clearly including snoring all night that kept me awake. Then the TV from 5 am.
I fed-back to the gentleman on reception. He just suggested I ask for an upgrade next time.

Can't comment on restaurant or golf course as neither were used during our stay, but it was nice in the afternoon or evening to relax with a drink or two on the terrace overlooking well kept gardens. Although the jacuzzi was out of action, we took advantage of the pool, steam room and sauna. It's also convenient for either walking or driving into Stratford. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

Main hotel: grand exterior but renovation required inside. Dining area dingy and carpets grim. Cutlery often not clean. Food fine.
Staff really nice and helpful.
Pool and gym nice.
The apartment was fine.
Place could be amazing with a bit of investment and upkeep.
2.5
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, amazing food
