Beautiful cottage - so much history. Absolutely stunning stair case and loved the window seats in all the upstairs rooms. Bedrooms and beds were large (husband’s back suffered from the hard bed and he ended up needing a physio appt when we were there) The other three family members were fine.
There is an under counter fridge and a separate undercounter freezer (not mentioned in the details) also a washing machine and tumble dryer plus plenty of clothes airers. Well equipped kitchen and we cooked every night without problem. Slimline narrow dishwasher.
A few of everything left by hosts to get you started - 1 toilet roll in each bathroom, a couple of dishwasher tablets etc. plenty of laundry detergent
15 minutes drive from stunning Silecroft beach. Enormous Sandy beach wheb the tidy is out abc hardly anyone around. Cumbrian heavy horses are en route and you can ride down onto the beach. There are walks you can do straight from the cottage.
It is on a main road but traffic didn’t bother us.
Beautiful garden which kids loved exploring when we arrived. Outside loo was really useful!
Very comfortable cottage for the 4 of us. We didn’t meet the hosts but that was fine with us
If you’ve read other reviews then there is the odd patch of flaking paint but only behind doors, under radiators and the cottage is truly ancient. We saw it as part and parcel of staying in a beautiful old cottage and nothing to worry about in regards to our health. We had a great time. Would recommend
Hard to dry the clothes that couldn’t tumble dry - the garden has a slightly damp woodland feel to it (because it is a beautiful woodland garden!)
