In an excellent location with great bus links to explore lakes. The cottage has everything needed for a comfortable welcome after a day walking. If you don’t fancy cooking breakfast Daphne in the little shop knocks up a wonderful bacon sandwich x

The cottage was warm on arrival. The location is perfect
It’s in need of some TLC. It wasn’t cleaned properly. The shower is difficult to regulate temperature, it’s either too hot or too cold & not powerful enough, not a good experience. The radiator in bathroom is rusty! And the towel rail is too.
Only one lamp in double bedroom, the other one looked broken with no bulb, & they didn’t match! Bed uncomfortable.
Downstairs. There’s an open fire but no fuel, a small welcome pack would help! Kitchen ok, looks like there’s been a leak over the window & needs attention. Difficult to access fridge, as it’s right in the corner in utility room & opens the wrong way.
Sitting room, tired looking furniture curtains & rug.
Outside
Could do with re painting & power wash, gravel also needs replacing.
It’s generally looks neglected, which is a shame, as a few tweets could make it such a special cottage!!

We like Braithwaite and have stayed in numerous places in the village.
The property had a disgusting smell of curry when we arrived and it is also desperately in need of a deep clean due to a damp dog smell. The soft furnishings seemed especially effected.
We opened all the windows and I wasted a bottle of perfume trying to diminish the smell.
The bath is stained and needs a scrub with cif.
The bedding was so dated it was like an old people’s home.
The electric had tripped before we checked in. You can’t check in before 5pm ! it was getting dark so we were concerned about finding the RCD then we were concerned about using the fridge as it wasn’t cold enough. Not a good way to start a holiday and the emergency telephone number was unhelpful to say the least.

Location was lovely for us. Just what we wanted for our dog.
After long days walking , I was hoping for a better shower to wash away the aches and pains but wasn’t a powerful shower at all.

The location was perfect. The cottage is in the centre of Braithwaite right next to the village shop, with the sounds of the stream over the road being a very peaceful addition. There are a number of lovely hikes that are accessible right from the doorstep, with Skiddaw visible from the bedroom windows. The Whinlatter Mountain Bike park is also a short cycle from the house, so we didn't use the car all that much while we stayed. We also booked the Alpaca Walk with Alpacaly Ever After from Whinlatter, which was excellent. Cat Bells is also a scenic hike from the house with some great view from Barrow Hill behind the house. Keswick is a short drive away or around an hours hike away. Derwent Water has plenty of kayak hire available and Crummock Lake is not far if you fancy some lake swimming. Beside the parking for Crummock Water is Lisa Beck which has some lovely little infinity pools for children (and adults) to play in. The house was kitted out with everything that we needed for our stay, with parking available for one car. A great location and plenty of room in the house for 5!
The house had everything that we needed. We brought our own TV Firestick so TV wasn't a problem. I understand that a new aerial had been fitted to get a better tv reception, but we didn't use it so couldn't comment on that. The provision of a hand towel would have been useful, although tea towels were provided.

Amazing location with the most stunning walks right from doorstep, for example up Barrow and Grisedale Pike. Lovely village shop opposite selling fresh bread and croissants daily. Washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher. What's not to love?

Perfect location - opposite the village shop where you could collect hot fresh croissants and bread daily! Also opposite a little stream. Beautiful walks from doorstep. Only a few minutes to the bottom of Barrow mountain, a gorgeous easy climb. Five minutes drive to Keswick town centre. Hill views from most windows, including Skiddaw. Loved it!

Perfect location. Good basic facilities at the cottage.
Although there was a notice saying that the cottage had had cleaning measures taken due to Covid 19 we felt that the cottage hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. There was thick layer of dust on the tv cabinet and the bath needed a scrub.

Location is fantastic, brilliant for the walking holiday we had planned.
Unfortunately the shower pressure was not sufficient to enjoy a good shower after a walk. I had to clean pans before using them. The mattress in the double bed room was incredibly uncomfortable and I ended up having to sleep with my children in the twin room. We knew there wasn’t going to be WiFi but expected the tv to work- only two channels worked.
