The hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The location was perfect. The onsen baths were excellent.

The location was amazing! We were steps away from Zenkoji Temple. At 5:30pm when all the tourists clear out we had the place to ourselves! This was one of the best beds on my to to Japan. Sooooo comfortable!
We c house to sleep in, so it was a little loud in the morning as cleaning got underway. But nothing air pods can’t Silence out.

Authentic Japanese breakfast served at an agreed upon dining time. Onsens were authentic as were the futons on tatami mats. Great location to the main temple. Recommend this ryokan for a true taste of old Japan.

Great location, helpful staff; an authentic Japanese experience.
The traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner were huge - almost too much for us to eat.

Traditional Ryokan on the temple grounds. Really felt cared for by the family who run the guesthouse, and the breakfast was delicious.

Nice big room with private shower and toilet. Breakfast was nice. Typical Japanese experience for us.
Our window could not open for some fresh air. Coffee was a bit weak for us.

We stayed in a beautiful traditional Japanese room, with an attached private bathroom which was perfect for our needs. We opted to have both dinner and breakfast at the ryokan, and both meals were great. The location is a short bus ride from the train station, with easy access to both the main street of Nagano and Zenkoji Temple. We went for a short walk up to the temple after dinner, and it was lovely to see it lit up in the dark with no tourists around. Highly recommend booking this ryokan if you're visiting Nagano!

Fantastic location right on the main walking street, in a beautiful traditional building. The breakfast was nice and elaborate, Japanese style. The owners were very welcoming.
The room was rather small for 3 of us. Sleeping on futons on the floor is hard - but we knew it, so not a complaint. The latest time to have breakfast is 8 am, waaay too early.

Great location close to the temple,staff/owner very nice, everything was clean and futon beds comfortable and are made for you by the staff :) Ofuro great (max for 2-3 people at the same time). Overall we had a great stay!

The rooms were spacious, lovely atmosphere, staff super friendly. The Ryokan is located minute away from Zenkoji temple and used to be one also. Tea in the room was super nice, yukatas great!

The Ryokan was situated right in the middle of the Main Street leading to the Zenko-Ji temple and couldn’t have been in a better location.
The room was lovely, and so was the bath.
The staff were really friendly and helpful.
All in all a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend.

perfect location, couldn’t be better for temple and restaurants. clean, traditional, with simple indoor onsen onsite, one for men and one for women

this place used to be the original site of zenkoji temple! the room was spacious and clean.

The family was very friendly and nice. The location was unbeatable, literally a few steps away from the temple. Great experience! Loved the traditional room, very comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to stay in a ryokan.

Wonderful, authentic Ryokan. Dinner was traditional food and excellent. Location is on Temple grounds and close to sunrise Buddhist ceremony. Enjoyed the local shops and stalls. Staff so genuine and helpful!
Stairs, although staff helped with luggage. Stairs steps are narrow. Best to go up/down in socks rather than slippers.

Clean rooms. Nice staff. Classy decor.
Onsen’s could have been cleaner; there’s black mold on the ceilings. Night bar should have been open.

The breakfast was delicious and very generous, and the location was exceptional… It was near everything you wanted to see an easy to access other areas as well
Nothing based on my experience… Everything was wonderful

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I got there too early for check in, but they welcomed me warmly and let me leave my bags there while I went sightseeing.
The only thing that could have been better was the bath is only open certain hours. I’m an early riser, plus like to bathe late, but couldn’t.
4.5
Everything was great. Onsen, breakfast, location, friendliness. Just need to be quiet late at night. Awesome place.
4.5
it’s an older Japanese Ryokan, but very clean and quiet and the staff were incredibly wonderful.
As is normal for a ryokan, no elevator and very steep stairs. as a foreigner with big feet the slippers you wear around the inn are just a tad too small which makes walking up stairs a little treacherous.
4.5
Location in a middle of the historic district, very friendly and helpful staff.
