MAHAWELI Reach Hotel is situated overlooking the MAHAWELI river. It is a breathtakingly beautiful location. It’s one of the oldest hotels in Kandy. The architecture is stunning. The bedrooms were extremely spacious and comfortable with beautiful views from the balcony. The staff at MAHAWELI Reach were exceptional! Attentive, polite and helpful. The Buffet spread was delicious! A wonderful mix of Western and Asian. I want to say to those who expect food from your country. Enjoy the food served in the country that you visit instead of complaining. I have never been served Sri Lankan food when I visit another country. Especially in an All inclusive Hotel. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a memorable one.

Great location by Mahaweli river and views from the back. The pool area and restaurant are the highlights for us! Our executive suite room was great, although AC was not working properly.

Staff cannot communicate very well in English and our check in was problematic. Rooms were far away (ie over 5 mins walk) and while in the end we managed to move them closer, it was hard work communicating and agreeing with hotel staff. No senior staff appeared to help or come forward to discuss with us. They insisted (initially only) we had to pay for extra bed (which added to confusion!). Not value for money as really expensive and I would rate as 4 stars rather than 5. In addition, the main yard by the pool was occupied every afternoon by a separate group for which the hotel had organised activities that rest of guests could not participate - in fact when we sat with my family by mistake in one of the chairs set out we were asked to move in a way that could have been more polite (and which felt embarrassing to us!). No signs were there to guide us either and we felt as second class guests.

Nice pool, on river view, buffet dinner and breakfasts were nice, staff are friendly. Little touches in the room were nice - turn down service If you want luxury stay in Golden Crown Hotel - it was WOW.

It says 5 star - but very dated. Air conditioning didn’t work in our room properly. The shower head in bathroom was terrible - didn’t reach us - and it was either nuclear hot or freezing. Staff couldn’t find out train tickets after being asked 5 times. On 6th time, suddenly they appeared - right the day before travel. Not so chill for us. Gym is awful - not recommend.

Room was large and comfortable and the AC worked well. Excellent breakfast. Dinner we ordered from room service and the quality of food was moderate. There is room for improvement. Very friendly and helpful staff. Has a beautifully maintained garden full of flowers.

Mattress in the bed seemed a bit old and felt uncomfortable. Perhaps time for a replacement.

It was well maintained & the garden was so beautiful and relaxing, the staff were so attentive and friendly, I met a lovely staff member her name was Anjali and she was very helpful. Thank you to all the amazing staff who made my stay very comfortable.

I really liked the buffet that the hotel served, there was quite a good spread. It is a very peaceful place by the river. The evenings are ungorgettable, i really enjoyed having a drink in the evening looking at the sun go down over the river. Highly reccomend for a family. Great hotel and a great staff.

Very beautiful hotel complex with a really nice pool, delicious restaurant and cool bar with many different and tasty cocktails. The bar supervisor Indika is a really nice and courteous guy, who mixed great cocktails for us.

The showerhead was a little bit to small but this is a trifle.

Wow what a hotel! This hotel was clearly a surprise for us. Even though it's really close to Kandy, the place was really calm and peaceful. The riverside room we got had a fantastic view. Really nice place for a family getaway. I will surely visit again.

I had a wonderful experience at Mahaweli Reach, i really enjoyed the fantastic views from the terrace in the evening. The food was great and the staff was really nice as well

All the staff were kind and helpful. They were cooperative especially Menon and Anjelia. super respectful. The rooms were clean and the room service was great. The breakfast was good and we witnessed a traditional wedding ceremonies. The view is spectacular, it’s literally living in the heart of nature. You can clearly see the river and you can take a 45 minutes boat trip. The breakfast was fine

The furniture is a bit old and need to be renewed. There was an issue with the A/C.

I learned that the hotel was a great place to relax and I was amazed with the five star staff service. Ms. Dilhani and crew at customer service provided a great service and I look forward to visit the hotel again.

Most iconic hotels in kandy I had such a great time at Mahweli Reach last time i had to go back there again. The staff immediately recognized me, and i was offered the same room that I liked and stayed in last time. I was even given a special treat by the restaurant staff when i was having dinner and special thanks to Ms. Minon who helped us throughout our stay.

I had a fantastic experience at Mahaweli Reach. The buffet had a nice variety and the food was delicious too. It was really peaceful place even though it is really close to kandy. I was given a room with a nice river view and the evening sky looked spectacular over the river. I would definitely recommend and return.

The welcome and courtesy of staff is superb. But the room is not comfy. The room needs serious upgrade on beds, mattress, chairs, TV and all fittings.

I didn't like the room. It is not comfortable and not attractive commensurate the value for money.

It gives you the Taj Samudra vibes. Great hotel, gives that ancient luxury feel. Staff is courteous and facilities are great. Loved our stay there

the food was diverse and tasty, the size of our room, the view of junior suite, the staff is courteous but ineffective

- the day before the check out the toilet clogged at 4 p.m. I spoke to the reception but nobody came to fix the issue. - We had an upgrade, but we paid more then I was told, and when I called the property the next day in order to double check the amount of the invoice, they just told me to wait few minutes because they would call me back (but without questioning about the issue). I still waiting...
