I'd like to highlight 3 things about Casa 3 Azules:
The property itself is perfect for a relaxed stay at the beach with every facility, a great pool and amazing location. We essentially had a private beach.
The staff are all wonderful and keep the place spotless and were incredibly helpful when our care hire battery died.
The property manager, Martina, was incredibly responsive to any and every query. Plus when the same hire car died again 1/3 of the way back to Oaxaca to catch our flight early on a Saturday morning she was able to sort out a taxi to pick us up from the side of the highway high in the mountains and get us there on time - you literally can't pay for that kind of service.

One of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had! The rooms were large and clean. The beds are extremely comfortable. You can hear the ocean from bed. We spent most days in the pool. It is clean and refreshing and they provide great floaties. We had Amelia and Deni cook for us. The meals were amazing! Filomina was so sweet and helpful. The entire staff was so lovely! The house and the views are breathtaking. I highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to go back.

My party and I could not ask for a better vacation. Our only complaint was that it was too short. Casa Tres Azul is a picture perfect property. We spent most of our days swimming in the ocean, lazing in the pool and the eating Amelia’s fantastic food. Once you’re there it’s difficult to leave. Filomena and Paco keep the property beautifully maintained and are always helpful and accommodating. The beach is picture perfect and feels as if it’s your own private property as we hardly saw any one the entire time. The rooms are well appointed and the beds super comfy. Katherine and Martina, the property manager were always responsive to any questions but once we were there we didn’t have any reason to contact them. We can’t wait to return to Casa Tres Azul.

Beautiful villa , beautiful grounds, ocean view
This is a gorgeous property with panoramic views of the ocean and the grounds. In addition to the master bedroom, there are 3 separate casitas that are comparable to four star hotel accommodations. The staff are gracious, warm and helpful. The beautiful pool is a delight and the villa is decorated in vivid and warm colors. There is an outdoor grill and numerous places to sit and take in the beauty of this spot.

I am trying to think of something that hasn't already been said here. Our four nights at Tres Azules were by far the most relaxing we've spent in years. The incomparable setting of the house leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. I spent most of my time in the ocean, something I never do. The surf was just big enough to play in the waves and never got scary (maybe we were lucky). The hardest decision we made all day was whether to hang out at the stunning pool or down on the sandy beach. A word about the pool - it's been described here as a lap pool, which it is, but you can see in the pictures that it's L-shaped and also has a large swimming/wading area. More perfection.
The three attached casitas are perfect for couples traveling together. They are all equal and beautifully and authentically appointed. The owners have excellent taste.
We booked massages that everyone agreed were among the best we've ever had - and this was a TOUGH crowd to please.
Food and service are perfection. Everything you need but never in your face. We ate in one night and also enjoyed Espadin and Lychee Thai in town.
When was the last time you didn't put shoes on until dinner?
We have had a number of excellent VRBO and other rental experiences, and this was definitely one of the best.

Balm and soothing respite!
I also am a returning guest at Casa Tres Azules… last year for two weeks with two other couples, and this year we were a party of 3 women indulging in the luxury of the spectacular setting and first class amenities. I can only echo and underline the comments in previous reviews and commend the helpful and welcoming personnel. Property manager, Martina, was most helpful and responsive to questions and requests; Amelia prepared wonderful Mexican fare for us; and housekeeping and grounds staff were attentive to every need.
I look forward already to returning next year… the roar of the surf, the meditation of swimming laps and yoga on the grass, sunrise walks and sunset talks… balm and soothing respite from northern winter!

Where do I even begin...this was paradise...
Our group of 8 met in Oaxaca on the 16th, and then took an easy flight to Puerto Escondido where taxi took us to the Villa, which is an absolutely stunning Casa whose vibrant colors promised the consonant beauty within. For all of us --an extremely well-travelled group-- our stay at Casa Tres Azules was one of the most memorable vacations all of us have ever had. The house is stunning and beautifully maintained and lacks for nothing. Well appointed kitchen, clear instructions and suggestions about things tondo in the area etc. We ventured out to several nearby towns, charming local restaurants, a turtle sanctuary-- but mostly stayed at the house soaking up the sun and the perfect weather, walking the endless and mostly deserted beach, swimming in that temperate lap pool, watching the glorious display of stars each night. The owners have a strong connection to the local community, and so we felt cosseted and cared for by the lovely staff. I wish I could think of one thing that disappointed, but I cannot. This would be a great place for families or groups of friends looking for an idyllic Pacific retreat. If anything, the pictures don't do it justice. I spent hours photgraphing the house and beach in the varying light. And we all returned home completely relaxed and tan, hoping to return again soon.

Once again, two years in a row, Perfect!
This was our second holiday at Casa Tres Azules, and once again found everything met and exceeded our expectations. Our party consisted of 2 couples and 2 children and the villa amenities suited us all perfectly. The owners were very responsive to our needs, the local property manager was extremely helpful and the house maid and yard workers were friendly and helpful. We hired a local woman to do all the cooking and marketing which made it like an all inclusive except it was our own very private accommodations. I have no reservations recommending Casa Tres Azules.

Luxury, Tranquil, Beautiful
Friends and family holiday at Casa Tres Azules did not disapoint us, from the moment we arrived until the time we left we felt welcomed by the amazing staff. Julio greeted us upon arrival with the keys etc but to tell you the truth we were so amazed at the property we really couldn't concentrate on what he was saying, it also helped that my daughter-in-law is from Oaxacca so the lanuguage wasn't an issue, we all changed and jumped into the 28 degree ocean.
Nina arrived the next morning with groceries to start out our day and Philomena cooked us a very delightful breafkast.
We are not needy people but anything you asked for Philomena was glad to do it, I tried doing dishes a few times and she wouldn't hear of it.
Nina the property manager was a phone call away but we never had the need to call her and she respected out privacy.
Katherine your book on Puerto Escondidos was very helpful with your recommendations, we ate out every other night inexpensice cab ride to town but make sure you call the cab an over before you want to go, (mexico time) lol.
Your recommendation for Flor de Maria's restaurant was right on we planned to go there anyway as the owners are from Guelph Ontario and we know them, we were not disapointed. The view from the rooftop of Zicatela was stunning.
Pacho the gardener a man of many talents can't do enough for you, he climped the palms and cut down fresh coconuts for us, built a fire on the beach, and kept the grounds immaculate, you can tell he takes pride in his job.
Lastly Casa Tres Azules, we stayed 2 weeks and seriously I could have stayed until spring, the Casa is spotlessly clean, spacious and decorated very mexican style, between the beds being so comfortable and the sound of the ocean we all slept like babies, no need for a/c with the cool wind blowing in the bedrooms.
We all had our own bedrooms facing the ocean.
I would definetly recommend Casa Tres Azules and only hope we can return next year.
Thank-you Katherin and Edward for sharing your Casa with us.

The most relaxing family vacation we've ever taken!
We stayed at Casa Tres Azules the last week of November 2013. We were 3 small families, and the house was amazing! Each family had one of the casitas and the children slept in the TV room, which has 2 beds, and the maid's/mother in law room. It was perfect. We really didn't leave the house much, as there is absolutely no reason to! The beach is AMAZING and very private. We rarely saw anyone else on the beach, just a few fisherman on our morning walks. There is a little lagoon, not too far down the beach where the kids loved to play. We were worried, based on things we'd read, about the undertow and the current, but it wasn't too bad. It was definitely strong at times, but we kept an eye on the kids and they were able to play in the water, boogie board and body surf with no problem. The water was bathtub warm, just perfect. The beach and water were very clean, no debris as we've seen at other beaches along the Pacific. The pool at the house was also amazing. It was perfect for everyone as there is a deeper lap pool area and then a shallow area with a large platform that is great for little kids. As you walk up from the beach to the house, there is a water spigot where you can wash off so as to not track sand into the pool. There is also an outdoor shower on the side of the house near the pool.
I can't say enough good about Nina the house manager and Julio the ground keeper. They were both amazing and so helpful! Julio has a van and you can arrange to have him pick you up at the airport if you aren't planning on renting a car. If you want to go into the city regularly, you'll want a car, but if you are just planning on staying at the house, you could arrange for Julio to help you get into the market or the airport. We had Itzel cook for us while we were there and she was fantastic! She was so friendly and nice to have around and the food was delicious and displayed beautifully. We especially loved the pina coladas and fruit juices that she'd make from fresh coconuts on the property and the fresh pineapples up the street. We would tell Julio what we needed each day and he'd cut them off the trees fresh! Amazing! His wife also makes delicious tortillas and you can have Julio bring them each morning. We truly LOVED every minute of our stay at the house. It was warm and humid, so we stayed in the pool most of the day, but the air conditioners in each room made sleeping very comfortable. Thank you Katherine for sharing your home!

Casa Tres Azules- Delightful stay
2 Adults, 3 teenagers- it was a perfect stay. At first, the surf feels like a drumbeat, within an hour, it is like your heartbeat. Never slept better. The pool is fantastic. We all swam laps. The house and bedrooms are great and the grounds beautiful. Be sure to ask for Tony to do your cooking. His meals were all fresh, creative, filling and he is highly informative and a lot of fun. We had a strict vegetarian in our group and he was flexible. Be sure to accompany him shopping. Rent a car. We travelled all over: to Escondido, for surfing lessons, on eco-tours (we helped release tiny baby turtles into the surf). Lots to do in Escondido and Tony (or Nina) can steer you to some great restaurants. Also, for teens, the house is completely online. A fabulous way to spend a restful, interesting weekend with loads of great family time.

Stayed with my girlfriend for an amazing extended weekend in Puerto Escondido!
The house is located directly on the beach. We woke up to sounds of the ocean and a view every morning. The town is about 10 minute drive with a excellent selection of local produce. With good company, the beach, a pool, and internet not many reasons to leave the house. Highly recommend this house!

Amazing! Thank you!
It was our pleasure to have stayed at Casa Tres Azules for two weeks in January. The weather was perfect and the tropical setting made us feel as though we were on an island in the South Pacific.
The home was as beautiful as the setting and had every modern convenience you could wish for, including wireless connectivity for computers and tablets and satellite TV. However being connected was incidental to our reason for vacationing there. We wanted to enjoy authentic Mexican culture and a tropical coastal setting. We were not disappointed.
The home is located on the beach and the sound of the surf is ever present. Long walks on the seemingly endless beach in the early morning and at sunset were magical. Wild life is abundant, with whale and dolphin sitings a common occurrance. There was a wide variety of bird life that were both beautiful and entertaining. Of particular interest were the large flocks of pelicans that cruised just above the surf and could be seen diving for fish. The area is a nesting spot for sea turtles and tracks in the sand could be seen where they came ashore to lay their eggs.
The beaches to the north in and around Puerto Escondido were beautiful, affording surfing, snorkeling scuba diving, fishing and just plain relaxing in the sand. The town itself is very interesting. The people are very friendly an there are a variety of good restaurants. Shopping at the local market, which is home to a large number of small sea food, meat and produce vendors, was one of the high lights of our trip. It is a great place to get really fresh items and see how the locals purchase their food.
There is a beautiful back drop of the Sierra Madre Mountains just to the east. We hope to return to this fascinating place one day soon and when we do we hope to visit some of the water falls and other points of interest in those mountains.

excellent amenities, super relaxing!
We had a wonderful stay, and look forward to coming again!
The home itself is beautiful, but the miles of almost empty beach just a few dozen yards from the house, the near perfect weather, and amenities made it even more special for my family. Combined with a well maintained pool just steps from the bedroom and main house doors, we never lacked for a perfect spot in the sun, or a relaxing dip in the pool or ocean to cool off!
I can't say enough about the high quality of the home itself, with tile floors, granite countertops, even a/c in the bedrooms (not much need for it, but nice to have in case, we only used it once!) along with all the electronic gadgetry the modern family needs. We all stayed in separate casita's each with a king sized bed, built in couch and full large bathroom.
Wifi worked well and trouble free throughout the house, with a 50 inch TV (again we only watched TV once, for the Super Bowl) placed in a "media" room that seats eight easily (and sleeps up to three if need be) with hundreds of channels (many in english including ESPN, golf channel, cnn and many more), and connected blue ray player. The provided google phone allowed for easy calling to and from the US and easy local calling. Nice to be able to always be in touch with family at home and on those thankfully rare occasions for us, work.
While we spent the vast majority of our time at Casa Tres Azules, we did spend a day in town. The town of Puerto Escondido is a funky cool beach town with many hidden gems throughout. Even things like sitting outside the local minimart "Super Mini 69" (in the Rinconada neighborhood) sipping a beer and smoking cuban cigars on the patio was relaxing fun. The beaches were picturesque, Playa Zicatella lined with beach bars, a wide sandy beach and water better left to strong swimmers and surfers. Manzanillo beach is protected and relaxing, with many places to sit and be served beverages. We had one dinner in town at the Espadin restaurant at the Villas Carrizalillo hotel overlooking Carrizalillo beach. Don't be taken aback by the dirt road leading to the hotel, it is very upscale and the food and view are outstanding!
Overall the entire experience was excellent, care free and highly recommended!

Bad experience.
We rented this house to spend Christmas and New Year together the whole family.
The house is nice, but it is a pity it has not services like T.V, telephone, internet and basics to enjoy holidays.
Lots of houses for rent in Puerto with much better services.

An amazing beach vacation
One of my favorite things about this house is how open and beachy it feels. Everywhere you are in the house, the waves are crashing in the background. It's so calming. I stayed in the house for two weeks in one of the guest rooms, which are quite large and comfortable. (The master bedroom is incredible, too - it's on the 2nd floor and you can see miles of beaches.) The house seems very new - the place feels very clean and modern. Because of the location, there's almost always a nice breeze (which also means very few bugs). There are a lot of great beaches to explore in town, too - and friendly locals who will teach you to surf or take you out on a trip to a local sanctuary. Great restaurants, too. Can't wait to come back soon!!

Beautiful house in amazing location
I was fortunate to stay in Tres Azules for a few weeks this summer with some friends and will never forget the experience. The house has a main bedroom upstairs with a nice private deck facing the ocean, and three bedrooms on the ground floor, each with its own bathroom and outdoor access to the pool area. So no matter which room you're in, you have a sense of privacy. The layout of the house makes great use of its beach views, with windows facing the Pacific so you always feel close to the surf even when you're cooking dinner, relaxing in the den, or sitting by the pool. The kitchen was big, open, modern, and great for social cooking. We cooked almost every night with fresh ingredients picked up at the local market (which is amazing). The beach is just a few steps away from the house. It's my favorite kind of beach -- big surf, driftwood, always changing, a little wild. It's a bit intense for kids, but there are lots of gorgeous kid-friendly coves in Puerto Escondido, which is a short drive away. And the pool is a great option for an evening or morning no-hassle dip. Wonderful place to stay -- I'd love to come back.

Paridise found
Just spent 10 days in paradise with a group of friends from Alaska. Toni your house was perfect in every way!! The secluded white sand beach, which we had mostly to ourselves, was beautiful. Shelling, wave riding and skim boarding awesome. The pool was heaven on earth, making those HOT days bearable. The sunsets from the palapa's were outstanding. Casa Tres Azul was truly peaceful and relaxing. Falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing is the best lullaby ever! Julio was very kind and helpful. He even spent time with my four year old friend, teaching him Spanish words! Thank you for sharing your piece of pardise with a bunch of sun deprived Alaskans.
