I loved the Elstead Hotel! It is a great, traditional British seaside hotel with friendly staff, a huge and well-appointed room (214) and a tasty breakfast. The room had a fridge, a sofa, a table and chairs, a desk and a large wardrobe. The bathroom was dated but really good quality and clean. The hospitality tray had decaf coffee and little tea pots. There was an iron and board as well as the ubiquitous trouser press. With a kitchenette, the room would have been a studio flat to live in! And the big, fluffy towels were a touch of luxury. Breakfast was just right, in my view. There were limited options but this meant what there was, was done very well, with no faff. The cooked breakfast was tasty and the cereal choice was extensive.

The television in our room was tiny! The room arrangement, with sofa next to the TV and table and chairs opposite the TV (at the end of the bed) meant the sofa couldn’t be used to watch the telly. In addition, the pillows were quite hard and flat so couldn’t prop one up easily and the chairs were in the way. We were staying one night, so this did not matter. However, this room would be excellent for a longer stay so a swap between the sofa and table and chairs would be a good move. The communal areas are in dire need of decoration but it doesn’t really matter. It adds to the traditional ambience, somewhat!

We booked with reference to the web site but when we received final confirmation two days before arrival we were told that te the hotel would not be serving evening meals. although not a major part of our holiday we do like the hotels we stay in to have evening restaurants

Very helpful staff, we arrived much earlier than we expected to and were able to check in. Lovely large room and great breakfast. Spa was a treat. Located perfectly for beach and city centre.

Swimming pool, jacuzzi bath, and changing area for the pool need to improve and be clean.

The breakfast was very good, and all the staff I met were really friendly. Although the decor was a little tired in places and my room was quite small, it was spotlessly clean.

The pool area was good but signposting needs a bit of attention. It wasn’t very clear how to access the leisure suite and once inside I had to ask the way out. A few signs would help, as there were multiple doors around the place.
