Fantastic quiet place with excellent service

A pretty facade, but... not all is gold that shines... be warned - this is a very shabby hotel that has long past its days of glory. It is in a state of disrepair and in desperate need of a major refurbishment. There was nothing “Executive” about our room. It was dirty and smelly, infested with mosquitoes. We requested sheets to be changed on arrival, still the bad odours in the room remained. We figured it originated from the bathroom, apparently a blockage in the sewer pipe, which we later on worked out was a problem previously reported by other guests. Staff confirmed that there was a bad smell, changed us to another room on our second night. The hotel manager offered us a private dinner which we thought was a gesture of compensation. We accepted, but our appetite was kind of gone. Anyways, it was nice food, but we were shocked when the staff presented us with the bill afterwards - what an audacity. The free bottle of wine certainly didn’t make up for the ordeal. Promised us a refund for the first night that never came through. The hotel never responded to our written follow up. The owner seems to have moved on to other business ventures and the hotel is perhaps just a sideline cash generator. Our advice - give the Paradise Road Tintagel a miss if you can so the owner finally gets his chance to refurbish this run down place. Do not get tricked by the cute facade...

Tastefully decorated and have an amazing ambience. The staff is very attentive and trying to make your stay so pleasurable that you don’t want to leave the hotel.

Amazing colonial property in great central postion

We experienced a very pleasant stay at the Tintagel and the team were friendly and attentive.

Rustic charm in both the rooms and the common areas. Though some of the plug points and fixtures could do with a upgrade. The breakfast area is open and can get quite hot mid year. The crows may also be an irritation for dining outdoors.

Arrived in Sri Lanka for a quick 2 day layover before heading off to Thailand. We arrived at the hotel extremely early (3am) as we arrived earlier than expected. Hoping for the best we were accommodated in a room until our booked room was available later in the day. The front desk person was incredibly pleasant and helpful. Now to the best part...when we got our booked room it was upgraded to an executive suite, complete with a separate living room, massive bedroom and even larger bathroom. Oh and it had a walkout hot tub. After this experience we didn't want to leave. The only knock is the location as there isn't much within walking distance since the hotel is in a residential area. This is one boutique hotel worth visiting. Like us, your expectations will be pleasantly exceeded

Very nice property in colonial style. Quiet patio for breakfast and dinner. Friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel staff were excellent. They were very kind to allow the use of their facilities for freshening up after check-out. Wished they fumigate the exterior areas to reduce mosquitoes

The check in was terrible and the room was Nothing like the pictures presented. This place is well past it’s best and completely over priced.

We were very impressed with this boutique hotel ,fantastic and chic decoration , great food , and excellence service. Don't forget to visit their decoration store, Gallery cafe and fashion boutique , you will be back home with a very nice souvenir from Sri Lanka.!

Great old mansion with great charm in superb location of Colombo. Dinners were excellent and well seasoned. Staff attentive especially at breakfast which was warm and delicious. Great if you are looking for privacy and the comfort of home. Other guests also seemed to appreciate the quiet and privacy. Would stay again

Staff couldn’t care less - stayed for 3 days and regularly were brought the wrong thing or couldn’t place an order.

Amazing hotel - we had such a great stay (3 nights in April 2017). The staff were excellent both before check-in and during our stay; the building is gorgeous and has rich history; the rooms are ever-so-slightly tired but that is part of the charm of the place. We also stayed at the sister hotel (The Villa) in Bentota and enjoyed that just as much, if not more so.

This hotel is convenient to all of Colombo by Tuk Tuk. The staff is remarkably friendly and accommodating. My only advice would be to clarify your room choice with them. I booked an executive suite with a balcony, per the photos of the room. Instead we landed a downstairs suite right off the kitchen, near the bathrooms and next to the cleaning closet. Less than desirable.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel.The staff were so attentive and smiled continually throughout our time there.We could not have asked for more.We also ate supper in the restaurant and believe that the meal was by far the best we had whilst in Sri Lanka.If / when we return to Sri Lanka we will definitely stay there again.

The breakfast was tasty. The lobby and the restaurant was really beautiful. Bed was very comfortable too. I would rate higher if the price was lower. Although there were many good points about the hotel, unfortunately, I didn't find it worth the price compared to the other hotels in Colombo because of the size of the room and the decor was not my type. Quietness was good though.
