The Churchill is a lovely looking building with a great garden out front where you can enjoy a drink and freshly made Pizzas. The staff are fantastic, the rooms comfortable and the cooked breakfast are as good as you can get anywhere. Its just a 5 minute walk into town and there is ample parking at the hotel. Our favourite for York.

Large room. Easy walk from the train station. Short walk to the town center. Hotel has a lovely outdoor garden area to relax with an evening drink. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Basement Room was claustrophobic and, unfortunately, suffered from smells from the basement toilets and drains. Room not particularly well aired with poor ventilation in bathroom. On a plus, all Staff were very good, attentive and helpful.

We came for the weekend, really enjoyed our stay , hotel was nice and comfortable, and the staff were really pleasant with you .

Love the breakfast, dining room ambience. Service was great. Outside garden serving pizza looked magical. Rooms were better than expected. Bathroom was a good size. Felt safe, was surprised we weren’t given tags for our bags when we left them to store as we were early for check-in and even with unlocked bags, they were safe!

Very clean and friendly. However, no air conditioning We had a small room, so was very hot at night. We had to sleep with open window, and unfortunately we could hear the street noise and the train.

Convenient area to visit Old Town

Lovely bar and outside area, but rooms are very small and no AC so it was incredibly hot and difficult to sleep. Friendly staff but room was disappointing for the cost.

Beautiful historic hotel, just a one nighter for us but loved the hotel, city and people.

Loved this place, it's perfect for a short break near York Center. Reasons to stay: 1. Staff, so friendly, welcoming and helpful. 2. Location, it's perfect, quiet but only 5 minutes to the Minster and town 3. Hotel building and gardens are spotless 4. Good price for the quality of the stay 5. Food, we only had snacks and drinks in the garden but easy to order, quick to arrive and decent pricing. Small negatives: 1. Daughter found a massive toenail clipping on the chair in our bedroom, freaked her out a bit so I just binned it. These things happen but maybe a final scan from the cleaners would be good. Table was dusty too but it's summer and window was open so no big issue 2. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable & the pillows were marked and flat. Bed pillows were lovely so maybe offer them for the sofa too. Again, no big deal as we only stayed a night but something to consider for longer stays. Any, positives far outweigh the tiny negatives, lovely hotel, lovely staff and fully recommended.

On the hot day that it was, the absence of air conditioning and the provision of a tiny desk fan, made the stay in the small double unbearable.

We would definitely return. Beautiful hotel. Very convenient for walking to city centre. Staff at reception were warm and friendly. Considering it was on main road and next to railway line, it was very quiet!

Our second stay and we felt welcome and enjoyed it - perfect for a city break. Everyone’s friendly, hotel has beautiful decor. Not too far from city centre but away from any noise.

Both the staff and accommodation were excellent. Super welcoming, helpful and provided us with plenty of great recommendations for our short stay.
