This resort was probably a high-end luxury hotel when it was first built. It is now showing its age but still has a lot of character and ages well, like a fine wine. You can tell it was built with a lot of craftsmanship. Nice floors, bathroom and mahogany wooden doors and paneling. A few minor water leaks from the faucet. Excellent premium service for expedia or hotels.com bookings (free perks, avoid lineups!).

The Fish House roof leaked really bad and puddles all over the dining area in the rain. Zero ambiance. Only 7 tables including us dined in a restaurant we had to book reservation. The rest were too wet from the rain.

It has been a great experience, there are some things to improve, but the overall it has been a great staying, thank you for the details that make a difference, for sure we'll come back soon

The property itself is beautiful. It is right on the beach! The water pipes make horrible and loud sounds anytime you or a neighbor uses the shower or toilet. What I don’t like: they talk you into upgrading your stay, but don’t list out the pros and cons to upgrading. For example: they tell you that you get a Bali bed when you upgrade, but then charge you later when you try to book a Bali bed. I also don’t like that it has been over a month and I am still waiting for a refund from a previously canceled stay. The buffet is good, but if you go to the restaurant be prepared for a 45 min to 1 hour wait time for your food. Expect to wait 15 - 20 minutes before someone even comes to your table to offer water. (This was a norm during my stay and not a one time occurrence) The Expedia check in staff were amazing! The regular front desk staff were not very friendly or knowledgeable.

The food was very bad, you had to wait in line to get in and when you got in there was no food. The bed was terrible. The mattress was disgusting.

The hotel is DILAPIDATED! Never again to the place the food was just ok . NO AC in the LOBBY or RESTAURANTS the rooms had a muggy smells with some bugs that they were eating us at night..

Hector and Brenda at the front desk deserve raises!! Very kinda and welcoming. REALLY UNIMPRESSED with the night staff stealing my Uber eats order, got caught lying about it.. then the night manager Julio started swearing at me.. will not be back due to the horrendous customer service experience the night staff offer their guests.

We stayed 3 nights/4 days, 4 adults and 2 toddlers. The food was good, some days seemed to have more options but overall we enjoyed it. Main pain points were that we arrived when all restaurants were closed in between breakfast and lunch. Might want to have an option especially for kids. I feel like the guy who checked us in could’ve done a better job at explaining how the reservations work. We only got one ticket to make a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants. I’m not sure if we’re limited to one per stay or if more tickets can be requested. Service was good, we always tipped so that seemed to help. They could definitely use more help around the pool as we had to line up for drinks and there was usually only one person working at the bar. We really like the pool setup. If you have kids you have a lot of space where they can roam. If not, there’s a whole other side where you can stay. Overall, we would stay here again.

Staff were amazing at the resort and they had a wide selection of food every night. The pool area always had chairs available and the beach area was nice and quiet. My family of four had a great time! The only improvements I would suggest would be air conditioning in the restaurant areas or more fans. Specifically in the main buffet area. It was extremely hot at times and uncomfortable while eating. The hotel needs a little updating overall, but nothing that had any impact on our vacation. The resort activities were fun and the staff were amazing!

This is the 2nd time I have brought my family to this resort. It is an older resort and could use some updating. The rooms are outdated but are clean with great views. The pool is the best part of the resort. I have been to many many resorts in Mexico for the past 25 years. Melia's pool is always warm and inviting. Others are cold even in warm weather. The staff are welcoming and nice. The spa is one of our favorites (Mary in particular). We scheduled massages for each day we were there. They are very reasonably priced. I travel with a disable adult son and all staff are always on the lookout for him and if he does run off they alert me to his location. We love MELIA!!!!

The melia is a good place to stay. The only thing that was annoying was the pools were too warm. It was hot and when we jumped in the pool to cool off it wasn’t refreshing.

The aesthetic of the resort was amazing and the people who work there are amazing and very nice!

We loved our stay at Melia Puerto Vallarta as a family of 9 with 3 young children. The resort grounds are very well kept, the staff is incredibly friendly especially Yolo and Guadalupe from the front desk staff. They made sure everything was great during our check in experience and afterwards would continue to check in and see how everything was going. We ended up extending our stay for an extra night because of the great time we were having. The only thing that could make it a little bit better would be to have AC in the restaurants as it gets really warm in there. Thank you Melia for a wonderful stay, we look forward to coming back.

Rooms had cockroaches, AC didn’t work to good, hotel is out dated, food was not good at all.

We recently stayed here for 6 nights and had a wonderful time! The food options were good as they changed the theme every night but still had some of the same options which was great for my toddler. There was always plenty of lounge chairs at the pool and could easily find shade during the afternoon if needed. The staff were super attentive and friendly. Whenever we needed anything, they would be there quickly to try and address the issue. The rooms were typical all inclusive rooms and clean. The shows in the evening were also wonderful, they had a kids show earlier followed by the adult show and both were great! There were always plenty of activities and the instructors (especially for the water activities) were super enthusiastic and made it all such a fun experience. The resort was also very close to the airport and shops, so if you forget to pack anything or just wanted to go around for a day trip, it was super convenient. Would definitely recommend this resort for a family vacation!

I logged in Melia Puerto Vallarta with my spouse and two little children. Beautiful resort. The workers were great and respectful. The services are of high standard. The food were delicious, natural, freshly prepared with different options. The location is safe and quiet for good relaxation. A great resort to spend your vacation in. The children and my spouse love it.

Lobby was nice, employees are very helpful but need major renovations on their rooms and need additional restaurant. Food are okay but need more improvement. The beach are okay not a white sand.

Overall we liked the property. The only SEVERE and BAD existing condition is the flooring around the pool for walking and exiting the pool. It has tile which is very slippery. I witnessed several people slip and fall and I just happened to be one of the unlucky ones who slipped and injured myself. I split my knee and scraped my foot very bad! I am still recovering on antibiotics as I developed an infection. This hotel should be visited by local officials so that the flooring can be reviewed for safety.

I didnt like that this is supposed to be all-inclusive but from 11 am to 1 pm there is no restaurants open, and the chairs at the beach were not included in the all-inclusive you had to pay to use those.. and the hotel is kind of old and not in a very good condition.. we also had issue in the room the water in the sink was dirty everytime you would open to take a shower
