The front desk didn’t tell us the elevator was not working. I am disabled and was unable to walk up the stairs to the fifth floor. Something the front desk clerk should have disclosed. Management has avoided calls and emails for a refund. We checked in at 9pm and and they charged us an exorbitant amount of money knowing full well that the elevator wasn’t working which is a regular thing at the Peninsula based on our previous attempts to stay there. The front desk clerks, both that night, were uncaring and one even made snark remarks about us being drunk.

Spa and resort music playing outside was a little overwhelming, like loud. Especially if you’re trying to sleep in the nighttime.. we ask staff to lower it down so we could sleep. I’m guessing the walls are real thin, so noise and voices can really be heard from the ground level.. we were on the 3rd floor..

The location is lovely with direct access to the beach, easy walk to the jetty and near to some restaurants without being in the middle of the main drag. The bed was comfortable, the room was decently large and generally clean.

Really did not like the music blasting every day at 8 am - especially since the walls are too thin to block out the noise and woke us every day. The whole property is decrepit and falling apart. Not worth the money I paid. The fitness room is a joke. I first thought our bathroom was dirty then realized it was technically clean, just the tub had numerous rust stains / chips in the enamel and whoever attempted to recaulk it did not know what they were doing. (& they must have been short - the smear job went up about 3/4's of the tile height then stopped.) Pool towels were flimsier than my rags at home. The door into our room looked like it had been kicked in at one point - it latched, but there was literally a 1" gap by the bottom of the door where it was caved in. The couch in our suite sagged in the middle - I actually slid into my husband trying to sit on it. The coating on the cement on the landing outside the rooms is bubbled and peeling the entire length of the building, contributing to the general feeling of disrepair.

The hotel was ok. It was a little dingy and outdated. You could see where they had "fixed" things and didn't blend the colors in. The front desk staff were very dry. Not happy and friendly. The parking lot was 1/2 block away. The lady in the restaurant couldn't speak English. So it was pretty hard to communicate. Our travel plans changed. The hotel was not willing to accomadate the changes. It was a 2 day cancelation policy. Even though i tried to cancel the last 2 nights within the cancel dates, they refused. So we had to pay for 2 nights even though we couldn't stay there those 2 nights. They didn't even respond to the booking agency in a timely manner. Won't be staying here again.

The friendliness of the staff. Better communication. Better understanding of people's changes.
