Location great breakfast fantastic
The fact that we were there for four nights and the bed linen was not changed

Nice location close to city centre
1. A towel in my room, whilst clean, had a nasty looking mark on it.
2. There was no shower gel in the dispenser.
3. The safe did not work properly and a member of staff had to reset it.
4. The phone did not work and a member of staff had to reset it
5. There was no QR code provided in the room which a member of staff said should have been there.
6. The toilet seat was dirty on arrival
7. On checking under the bed when leaving the corner of the bedroom by the bed and window was dusty.
8. I received an email from IHG hotels to review my stay and submitted my review with all the above points but have not had the courtesy of a reply.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the staff could not do any more for you, they were always so happy to help and always had a smile on their faces no matter the time of day. So peaceful and relaxing and just one of the best hotels we've stayed at, we'll definitely be back and stay in the same place.
Literally nothing we didn't like, was perfect.

The room was lovely and full of character. The bed was very comfortable and the layout of the room was great - much more space than other hotels in York i've stayed in. The location was brilliant - easy walking distance to the centre and lots of lovely shops and restaurants on the same street. There were lovely biscuits and a bar of chocolate which was nice.
The parking - but that's not the hotel's fault because space here is such a premium. York is a nightmare to park in - leave extra time if you are new to the city because we always struggle to park.

Location was great, closer to the city centre than it appeared on a map and loads of good restaurants nearby. Room was clean and comfortable. All the staff we met were lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good.
When we opened the bedroom windows for fresh air there was quite a lot of noise from the (student?) accommodation opposite but that might just have been because it was the weekend/end of term. Would have eaten in the hotel but the restaurant only served pizza.

Fire alarm tripped just before 7 am and went off intermittently over the next couple of hours, a pipe burst and flooded the ground floor and so had no hot water for most of our day

The staff were great and looked after us during our stay and the bag drop off both prior to our room being ready and after checkout was good. The area is quiet and the good glazing makes street noice minimal, lovely large bed with choice of pillow hardness which was a nice touch.
The room, though a decent size and clean was somewhat tired in areas, there were holes in the plaster around the shower area, peeling paint and mould in the grouting. There was some noise from rooms above due to the wooden floors.

Great staff and the surprise proposal I had planned with the staff couldn't gone any better, not a thing was mentioned and all kept secret, and whilst we was out for a meal the staff kindly sorted to room out for my proposal returning from the meal ... She said yes! Happy days 😊
Although I paid for the service and room upgrade, breakfast wasn't included for some reason I will need to chase this up.

Breakfast dreadful waited half an hour for cold tea, sent back for another cup of cold tea, then a Luke warm breakfast arrived after nearly an hour of waiting and the buffet section was ransacked nothing left. Ran out of orange juice. Terrible service and £20 per person!

Room was over service area for staff so very noisy early morning - cages being wheeled about and staff chatting- slow breakfast service to get a coffee - card had to be pre- authorised to get a drink in the evening

Fab location tucked away from the main streets. Lots of little bars and cafes as you head into the main streets. Hotel was lovely, great decor and fabulous service and breakfast.
Pillows not to my liking but this is a personal thing.

We had an amazing 4 night stay for my fiancé’s birthday. We stayed in the premium king room with bath & there was nothing to fault, everything we needed was in the room, bed was very comfortable & views were lovely. The breakfast was excellent each day of our stay & the bar in the evening was lovely as were all of the staff.

Location seemed hard to find for tourist not use to York seemed locals didn,t know certain areas. The signage was low profile maybe a council restraint thing .

The hotel was very central, clean, well presented. The breakfast was lovely… the cocktails very good and the staff polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again myself.
