Very comfortable and friendly stay

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary by returning to the Galena area where we had come 25 years earlier. Our experience at this property was amazing. It has all the charms of an old house in a by-gone era. Yet, it has the modern amenities you would expect of a modern rental. The bathroom has been nicely updated, and the overall feel of the place was classic; yet contemporary. Our host Kate was amazing with directions, and she was easy to contact. Our breakfast was absolutely top notch both days. (Delivered right to our room). Kate even left a little gift for our anniversary! We couldn’t be happier. Highly recommended.

This suite was one of the best we have stayed in during our travels! And Kate was an amazing host! The location gave us access to downtown and was very easy to get in and out of. The amazing breakfasts each morning were outstanding. I would rate this as one of the best get away locations we have experienced.

We spent an amazing weekend at Federal House. The Alice Suite was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for our stay. The fireplace in the sitting room made it so cozy. Breakfast every morning was made to order with locally sourced ingredients and delicious! Check in was a breeze and Kate was a wonderful host who offered great recommendations on what to see and where to eat Main Street was a shot walk away and we enjoyed shopping and dining locally all throughout our stay. We hiked along the River Trail every day with great views of the hills and river. We would highly recommend Kate’s place for your next stay in lovely Galena.

We stayed at "This Old House" last weekend in Galena! It was so charming but not without it's issues. There was a definite tilt to all of the floors, as I would expect in an old house. The rugs in the bathroom and hall were damp. There was a sign to make sure to keep the shower curtain inside the lip for the shower. Too bad the lip was so shallow. Oops I forgot my slippers, so I had damp socks all weekend. The charm of the large rooms and antique decor in our suite (the size of a small apartment) outweighed the problems that my construction (retired) husband could see; I loved the firm king bed and the outstanding breakfasts by the amazing on site chef!! Order everything!! It's all delicious! My only real issue was the dust, as I am allergic. As soon as we walked in, my nose and head filled up due to an exorbitant amount of dust everywhere and on everything, even the linens and towels. It was tough on me, especially since we were there over a below zero weekend and weren't able to leave due to -20+ wind chills. Even all of the churches were closed. With a thorough cleaning, and some airing out, it would have been a absolutely delightful weekend B & B. I suggest the managers invest in this; it would make a major difference. Thank you to both Kate and Gabby for your wonderful hospitality, which almost made up for the dust issue. Both ladies cared so much about our comfort and happiness. They went above and beyond to make us happy on such a dreary weekend!!

This very old house was beautiful and had all the modern necessities added to the inside right along side the historical features. It was a perfect place in a great town. Kate and Doug (and their dog Cody!) were awesome. What a privilege to get to know them. This was a much needed vacation for us and the house and town did not disappoint. Absolutely perfect.

The property was located very close to Main Street. The host was a great communicator and it was very apparent she wanted us to enjoy our stay. The breakfast was delicious.

Perfect! such a beautiful re-do of an historic home! Loved the personal touches and the rooms were equipped with all u could want for a stay! Bkfst was A+!! Parking and easily getting to and from downtown but removed enough to hot have all the traffic!

My hubby and I met friends here and enjoyed two days in Galena. The inn is quite comfortable and spacious. Bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the fireplace as it was cool and rainy. The food was yummy, and we felt relaxed and pampered. I would definitely stay here again.

We had two sixtieth birthday parties and this was the perfect place to celebrate! Spent a lovely afternoon sitting on the back patio. This is a charming, hospitable and relaxing place to enjoy.

This property and owner (Kate) were both well above average in every way. Additional accommodations were made with no issue to suit our group. Galena is a very quaint area & The Federal House is located to walk to everything. The breakfast served was lovely as well with several options. I would stay at this location on my next trip to Galena and recommend to anyone. Jeri H.

Excellent location for accessing the main road of shops. Breakfast each morning was delicious, prompt, and served with friendly and attentive care. Checkin was a little tricky as we never got a text with the details and had to call the host at night when we arrived. But she promptly explained how to get in over the phone and we were good! Would recommend this B&B for sure.

From start to finish, just a great stay. Kate was very easy to message with any questions we had. Property is exactly as it looks on here and is very charming. Quiet location within walking distance to wonderful Main Street. Amy’s breakfasts were delicious. We highly recommend.

Lovely King suite with easy walk to Main Street with it's many shops and restaurants. Location was easy to find located next to the Library. The room was large enough for our party of 3. Along with listed mini fridge and microwave there were actual dishes and glassware. Large bathroom allowed plenty of space for 2 to get ready at the same time and there were many towels! As there were 3 of us the "cot" provided was actually a double height auto air mattress, it was all made and ready for our arrival and did not limit our space in the suite. . Everyone slept well! Surrounding neighborhood was quiet. Breakfasts were delicious and each morning varied. Chef Amy was attentive, always asked for feedback re options for the next day. There was also a paper menu to fill out. Amy remained available throughout our stay in case we needed anything, which was very helpful. . Owner Kate messaged regularly before the trip and day of arrival. As photos showed, this old home is beautifully decorated. We had access to the dining room and living room for when local family visited. I will definitely return!

My daughters, another family member, and I booked two rooms during Galena's Oktoberfest, and found the location perfect for attending the festival, shopping and dining. It's about a five-minute walk to the shopping area, and we enjoyed not having to search for parking this year. Both rooms were clean and spacious, and everyone found the beds comfortable. The hosts were quick to respond to our questions before and after arrival, and everyone enjoyed visiting with the housekeeper as we gathered in the dining room each morning for breakfast. It was nice to discover that breakfast could be delivered to the room if anyone wanted to keep a different schedule. We all felt like we were welcome guests, and hope to return.

My friend and I stayed here for a girls weekend. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. Any questions we had were quickly answered. The room was very large, clean and beautiful. Each morning we had a lovely homemade breakfast. My friend and I will be coming back here next year and will book this same room!

Amy’s breakfast are amazing. Such a sweetheart. Both she and Kate,the owner, were extremely pleasant and accommodating. Thank you both so much for such a pleasant stay.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Federal House. Loved the history of the home. It was clean and had everything we could have needed. Amy served a lovely breakfast every morning. We were very close to everything downtown and yet where we were seemed very private.

We loved our couple days that we stayed here in Galena. The owner was friendly, the room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included. We chose to eat in our room and breakfast was brought promptly at the time we requested each morning. The food was delicious. The house is in a great location, located within walking distance of all the shops. I would definitely stay here again!!

Everything about our stay, the property and the historic village was terrific. While it is an "over-touristed" town, it was still well worth the visit, for two nights to visit the town and the surrounding region. The home itself was wonderfully renovated, very comfortable and breakfasts were delicious and with variety. The home sits above the downtown but only 5 to 10 minute walk down. Top tier experience.

The Federal House and Galena were perfect for our weekend getaway. The room was spacious and beautiful and the location was great. Easy walking distance from main street, but being a block off of it made it much quieter! Kate was a perfect host and easily reachable to answer questions and give recommendations. Amy's food for breakfast was amazing you must try the homemade cinnamon bread and the French toast! We were so full from breakfast each day we never had to get lunch!

A wonderful experience. Located a nice short walk away from Main Street, the B and B is spacious and well-furnished, the owner is responsive and accommodating, and the breakfasts are delicious (Thank you, Amy). Amazing French toast and quiche the two mornings we stayed. A great way to start the day before visiting the town. Close enough to walk back and recuperate throughout the day and enjoy the shopping, kayaking, hiking and dinners Galena has to offer.

The house is beautiful and located close enough to the center of town to be able to walk to Main Street, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. The room was beautifully furnished and the bed was comfortable and we got a great nights sleep. We also loved having a delicious breakfast in the dining room each morning. It was perfect!

This was the perfect place to enjoy the atmosphere of Galena. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. And the hosts were great.
