Breakfast was great, organic and healthy, fresh and delicious. Just like we like to eat at home We were offered a breakfast menu a night before, it was served at exact time, chosen by us. We also had an option to in in our suit or in a dining room.

We couldn’t imagine, what could have been better. The owner Kate contact us before our visit, and stated n touch with us through the visit, it was very helpful and added this feeling to be taken care of during vacation. LeeAnn met us at the property, helped us to accommodate there right away, cooked and served a great breakfast, her coffee is the best.

Charming and quiet colonial home steps away from Main St. Galena. Room, bed and bathroom were clean, spacious and comfortable, delicious breakfast too. 10/10 would stay here again.

Everything was wonderful! The room was a very clean and spacious. Kate and her staff are wonderful and friendly. Breakfast was great. Federal House is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants.

Owner is the most genteel and gifted decorator, her attention to detail, high end high class, like coming home to an idealized place: worth more than money can buy, huge room, perfect furniture/paintings/colors/linens/ true historic elegance, warm, every consideration made for every need, a miracle, a huge bargain. Will definitely come again, a RARE gem.

Location was perfect-within walking distance of Grant Park, Galena/Grant museum, Grant home, and downtown stores and restaurants. They had off street parking, which was absolutely essential for us! Host was extremely thoughtful (left chocolates and a bottle of wine in the room) and welcoming-it was clear she enjoys hosting. Breakfast was healthy, varied, and tasty-and delivered to our room when requested!

Meals were just right, enough portions and very tasty. The whole house was expertly decorated in period furnishings yet all modern amenities were available.

We loved everything about staying here. The room and bathroom were both spacious and well stocked. The little kitchen had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, drinkware, dishes and utensils. Kate also makes sure to supply you with coffee and a variety of tea's as well as some microwave popcorn. She also made a wonderful breakfast for us each morning. It's is with walking distance to downtown Galena. We will be revisting The Federal House.
