We were a party of four ladies ranging in age of 47-70. The house was very comfortable during our stay and we felt very safe in the community & is close to shopping & downtown. One evening we saw deer crossing through the property after a light rain began to fall. It was a great weekend with family & friends and I would highly recommend this property to others. Check in was easy. Driveway is paved & the entrance to the home is level with easy access for those that may have some physical limitations. Check this one out!

My family and I decided to take a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives and travel up to the mountains. We loved everything about our stay. The cabin was well decorated, comfortable and had everything we needed while we were there. The owners were super responsive, kind and helpful. The cabin was conveniently located to grocery stores as well as restaurants and cute shops. Although the cabin is not in the middle of the woods we did not even notice the neighbors (we never heard them or saw them). We brought our pup and she loved the gated deck, the stream behind the house, the neighborhood loop and the state park up the road. I highly recommend staying here on your next visit to West Jefferson.

Home was in a great location close to town. We even had a little snow which we really liked. Everything was clean and kitchen fully stocked. Will definitely come back!

This was a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay for our weekend getaway to the mountains as a family. Our pups were so happy to be able to come along with us. We would definitely stay here again!

The cabin was perfect for our family! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to prepare our Christmas dinner. The bedrooms were comfortable and we enjoyed the bathroom with the large claw foot soaking tub. The owner’s were very responsive and we will definitely consider staying at the Great Escape on our next visit to West Jefferson, NC.

The cabin is in an exclusive neighborhood that is right at the foot of Mt. Jefferson. Access to restaurants and shopping was two minutes down the road; hiking and sightseeing were five minutes up the road. Very comfortable accommodations in a private community. Lots of games and VIZIO TV plus late nights on the deck by the fireplace made for a perfect vacation. This really is a "Great Escape"! We will rent this one again soon!

While the weather was rainy and cold while we were there, it was the perfect cabin to stay inside. Enjoyed the gas logs and well-equipped kitchen. Very-nicely decorated. Our two Cavelier Spaniels enjoyed the gated, wrap-around covered porch.

My husband and I stayed at the Great Escape in West Jefferson, North Carolina. The owners allowed us to bring our golden retriever, which was great. The house was perfect and had everything you needed for a stay in the mountains. The owners were very kind and helpful, and answered emails quickly. I highly recommend the Great Escape and hope to be back next summer!

This was a beautiful property that was conveniently located right outside of West Jefferson. The house was clean, well decorated and had the best outdoor seating. The owners reply to any messages with minutes. If we're back in W. Jefferson we will definitely stay with them again.

The property was very clean. It had all the amenities we needed. The location was close to town. Communication with the own was prompt and they are very accommodating. Will definitely stay at this location again.

We were not able to take a family vacation during the summer, so we were hoping to enjoy a few days in the mountains in early fall. There were several pluses: the cabin is cute, adequate heating and lighting, items worked, property in good condition, my two children loved exploring the yard, my son experienced a herd of deer that passed closely by, very convenient to West Jefferson, and a nice large screen television. I was disappointed in the following property items: the upstairs queen bedroom is a loft without a door (no true privacy for parents with children), there was not a separate shower upstairs in the bathroom, (although listed in the description), and there were numerous items missing that I needed in the kitchen, (such as a tea pitcher with lid, a meat thermometer, a funnel, a thin/flat spatula that would work with flipping pancakes, and a soup ladle. I have not rented a place without a DVD player, so I was surprised there wasn't one. One was not listed, so I had just assumed incorrectly. Helpful hints: if staying upstairs in the colder months, turn the thermostat down to 66 degrees or so before going to bed, or the upstairs bedroom/loft can get very hot because of the rising air and no wall/division to block it. Watch your pet carefully. There was a golden retriever living down the hill that the owners let loose occasionally, and it ended up at our vehicle in the driveway. Also, watch for doggie presents potentially from same dog. For the coffee drinkers, the pictures showed a 12 cup drip coffee maker, so we brought ground coffee and filters. There is now a Keurig, so we had to make a trip to purchase k-cups.

we had a wonderful time at this residence. when we pulled in the yard for the first time, a deer welcomed us. The property owners was outstanding. They were very quick to respond to emails that we sent.

Thus property was so charming and located with easy access to Mt. Jefferson and downtown West Jefferson fun.

Family went for weekend wedding. House had everything we needed and enjoyed the porch with fireplace! Close to downtown for the great shops!

The cabin is close to town for any last minute needs as well as near great mountain trails. My daughter loved the hiking. The cabin was spectacular. We will be coming back in the future.

The place was perfect for us. Very comfortable, well-appointed, convenient, and very private. Christina and Devon responded very quickly to the few questions we had; nice people and easy to work with. We'll definitely be back!

My husband and I along with two other couples who are close friends of ours visited this past weekend. This was a great experience from beginning to end. Steve, the owner, was quick to respond from booking and to all our other questions. When there was a forecast of bad weather coming in during our stay, Steve immediately contacted us to let us know what they were forecasting and let us know what our options were. I am sure he gave way more options than was necessary. We ended up leaving a day early because we had to travel across the state and there was ice predicted between us and home. Steve graciously refunded us part of our money. The property is beautiful. They have all the necessary amenities to make for a comfortable stay. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The location was perfect for getting around and Steve had all the necessary plans in place in case of snow or ice. The checkin and checkout process was very simple. We will definitely be back. I have already recommended it to others and working on plans with my dad to return. I highly recommend!

This cabin on the outskirts of West Jefferson was a wonderful spot to spend Christmas with family. The property was immaculate and beautifully maintained and was completely stocked for a lot of cooking. We made a large Christmas dinner and really didn't need to bring anything from home. Steve was very responsive and made us feel comfortable and well looked after. Would definitely recommend. Great hikes in the area too!

We were looking for a nice and quiet place in the woods near the mountains for our first trip to NC. This property was perfect for our family of 5. Close enough to West Jefferson to shop and eat, but tucked away enough to feel like you were away from it all. We even drove over to Chapel Hill and took in a UNC basketball game one day. Will stay here again for sure!

This is the second time we stayed here and it was wonderful. They think of everything. The house is so neat and tidy and the owners were wonderful to work with. We will definitely be coming back.

I cannot find anything that would need improvement. The location could not have been better. Close to Boone, Blowing Rock and West Jefferson. The rental was well equipped. Everything worked. The porch wraps halfway around the house and is well furnished. Very nice place to relax.

We had a wonderful vacation at this home! It is easily accessible and not too far off of more heavily traveled roads, but secluded enough that you feel like you are "in the mountains." The home is one of less than ten in a circular neighborhood. We liked that we had the comfort of knowing there were other homes nearby for safety, yet you never felt on top of one another as there is plenty of space. The neighborhood does have what appears to be a shared wooded area around which the road encompasses. There is a gazebo and other families put out deer corn which regularly attracts many deer. They are so peaceful to see up close. The home has a fully gated porch which made us very comfortable as we brought along our dog. The porch also has a high quality grill and a fire pit, both of which we used each night! Inside, the home is very clean and has everything you would want from a mountain home. The beds were very comfortable and you felt like you were getting that true cabin experience.Shopping nearby was easily accessed. There is a Wal-Mart just a few minutes away for all your needs. Again, you truly feel like you are in the mountains in this home, but the convenience of well known stores nearby made for an easy stay.Just a few miles up the mountain behind the home is Mt. Jefferson State Park. We definitely recommend taking the time to visit this park. The views looking down at the area where you are staying are terrific. A little further away, but not too far near Boone is Elk Knob State Park. This one is highly recommended. It's free and the views are phenomenal!Locally, there are two nice parks. There is a playground in downtown West Jefferson with a SUPER long slide that our six year old loved. In Jefferson, visit Ashe County Park if you are looking for a place with great views, quality playground equipment, and a nice sized pond with multiple fish species.Bottom line, we loved this place and would definitely book again.

We loved the cabin, it's location, and how peaceful the setting is. We've already decided we want to come back later. Steve was an excellent host. The cabin was very clean, well-stocked with kitchen supplies, and had so many little amenities in the baths.

Myself and my friend stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. The cabin is spacious and beautiful. Fully equipped with anything you need. The property is well maintained and very peaceful. We could see the fireworks from the end of the driveway. We spent most of our time on the wrap around porch enjoying the view. I definitely recommend this property for your stay.
