Just a few issues were noted, and remedied the same evening by a friendly handyman. The bottom floor Ping Pong Table, board games, and book selection kept the kids happy. There was a high chair for any extra little visitors. Tons of cabinet space, a lot of kitchen supplies, double ovens, and 2 refrigerators kept the cooks happy! There is one bathtub in the common bathtub upstairs, which was great to have with kiddos. The colorful trees and mountain views were gorgeous! Gas fireplaces on both floors were a hit, too. Also, King sized beds in all rooms except the twin bedrooms were lovely!There were a couple relevant downfalls we wish we knew about beforehand. There is no trash pickup - you must bring your own trash to the dump site about 8 minutes away (not a deal-breaker for us, but would've been nice to know). Also, only a couple rooms had dressers. When staying at a place, I love to unpack amd make myself at home. There were plenty of luggage racks, but dressers or drawers in each room would be great!Thank you for everything! Our sugg

We did note that the requirement to have only 2 bags of trash left behind makes Sunday departures challenging, but otherwise it was a great experience in a beautiful place. For playing in the river, we recommend Elk Shoals which is nearby. Our kids all had fun on this little sandy bend.

Very spacious! 13 of us and didn’t feel crowded at all. Great location for local activities. Check in was supposed to be at 4 but cleaners were not ready until 5.

The easy access from the highway, the close proximity to a good grocery store, and the quaint downtown of West Jefferson, as well as the peaceful pastoral setting, made our arrival a very positive experience. The house and property itself, however, provided our family with a very special vacation this year! The house was very clean on arrival, and a perfect balance of homey atmosphere with modern conveniences for a large family. There is not only plenty of space for sleeping, but also plenty of bathrooms, separate and large living areas with plenty of seating, and a well-stocked kitchen for a crowd, with ample eating areas upstairs, downstairs, and outside on the large deck. Hard to find all of the above in one house! Favorite extras are the king-sized beds, large sofas, 2 refrigerators and 2 ovens, the oversized bean bags, the well-supplied game cabinet, lots of books and DVD’s, sports closet, and ping pong table, which helped make the rainy days more fun for the kids. We enjoyed rocking on the deck, walks in the neighborhood, and soccer, basketball, and corn hole in the driveway/yard. Ashe County Park nearby was an added plus with disc golf, pickle ball, play grounds and a greenway. We were all sad to leave but grateful for this week in this sweet home away from home, and all voted to come back next year! A big thank you to the hosts, and the rental agency, for all the attention to detail that made Grapevine Retreat such an excellent place to stay.

It's located in a beautiful rural setting, yet only minutes from a supermarket and a town and a mountain to climb. We stayed for three nights, and as we stood around our cars waiting to leave on the fourth morning, we all felt genuine regret that we had to leave--and that hasn't always happened on our annual trips. The house is wonderfully spacious and inviting; though it's been fairly thoroughly renovated, its fifty years of history gives it a special feeling of warmth and comfort that we've found lacking in newer homes. This is a home, and while we there it felt as if it were OUR home. We plan to return next year.

We stayed at the Grapevine while in town for a family wedding, and also around Mother’s Day. The house is spacious, comfortable in every aspect, fully equipped, and came with easy check in/out processes. Our favorite parts were the view and the porch. We had a wonderful time with family and would absolutely stay here again!!!!

This property is awesome for any large gathering of folks. We were part of a group of songwriters that were in town for a writing workshop. Having a total of 6 bedrooms with queen or king beds and 2 rooms with twin beds was perfect to accommodate all 11 of us. The huge deck was perfect for even larger gatherings of other workshop folks who came for dinner and jam sessions and plenty of parking for all. We had a little hiccup with check in (our door code didn't work), but the property management IMMEDIATELY contacted us to help us get an entry code that could work. We also had some last minute scheduling changes that the property management was very willing to accommodate. We truly loved our stay and we will be coming back for sure!

This property exceeded our expectations! Plenty of room, beautiful deck with a breath-taking view and lots of table space for games and meals. We will definitely be coming back.

We stayed at the property for a father/son trip to watch the Oak Hill basketball team play this weekend. The house worked perfectly for our large group, and provided enough recreation space for the boys downstairs, and the dad’s to hangout upstairs! The rental logistics, check-in, and communication were perfect. We will hopefully use this property again in future years!

A great home to accommodate large group with multiple couples and some kids. Sparkling clean! Large parking area. Large deck. Close to town and all the conveniences but yet a very country like private setting.

Honestly, I cannot say enough nice things about the property management company for this rental! This was the perfect getaway for our family and the house had everything we needed and then some! We already decided we are going to use this rental every year for our family trip!
