The room has a smell, no view, and quite old! Especially the shower only cold or boiling hot water…

First, the positive, the hotel staff was AMAZING!!! They were so friendly and helpful. The overall condition and appearance of the hotel was also good. The location was also great. Within 45 minutes walking of every major attraction. The pillows are also very comfortable Now, the not so good. The bed was rock hard. Seriously felt like i was laying on concrete. Also, there is a slight musty smell in certain areas, like its been constantly damp for some time. But this smell is not constant or intrusive. Laslty, the buffet is awful!!! The dinner buffet is ~31.00 pp and the selection of food is definitely not worth that. Nothing was really very hot and the items that were hot were not flavored or seasoned. The pictures of buffet display food that is not even offered.

Enjoyed our stay here - friendly staff, room with thoughtful light design options, clean, updated deco. Housekeeping staff was great. Family style room suited us. Main complaint is the requirement for swim caps at the pool. Also- pool is shallow, so even on a hot day, it will not be good to cool off in. Water machines close by for hot or cold water, self-service laundry machines in house, and 7-11 attached to hotel. Very convenient.

It’s a popular hotel for functions such as business meetings, weddings, sport association events… etc. We witnessed probably two weddings, countless business meetings, and most notably the wrestling association with athletes from all over the world. Even with all the events, our rooms stayed very quiet. The large lobby on first floor was nicely air conditioned with cool air. However, once you get into the elevator and any above levels, it was not conditioned until you enter a room. The laundry room and gym areas were air conditioned as well. It was hot in the elevators and walking through the long corridors to our hotel room. The hotel is situated with many breakfast restaurants nearby in walking distance. We didn’t see the appeal to pay more than $600NTD per person for breakfast when I can easily find something to fill ourselves for less than $100NTD per person. Also the 7-11 in the hotel is super convenient for quick drinks and made to eat food on the go. The buffet restaurant in the hotel offers the same selection at lunch and dinner, same prices too. We tried the dinner buffet one night and found it to be very enjoyable. Lots of seafood and variety of international cuisine. Thank goodness the restaurant was air conditioned even though it was open ceiling to above levels. We still felt relatively cool. The hotel staff seems to speak pretty good English. I didn’t have a problem since I can communicate in Mandarin.

2nd time stay in ILLUME in 10mths. Everything is excellent as 1st time except most of the service staffs are not located, they are not quite speak fully Mandarin or English but that doesn’t bother me. Will come back again.

Bug bites on my legs. The front desk gave me a used oniment after I reported the issue. The room service guy came to replace the cover sheets but he dump the blanket on the floor. Amazing !

We enjoyed the stay

Property was nice, staff was very friendly. Very big hotel with buffet and a few shops inside. Very convenient to restaurants and shopping. Good neighborhood with lots to do in the area. Staff was helpful calling restaurants for us to make reservations and getting taxis.

Overall a very enjoyable stay and experience at this hotel. Staff was extremely friendly, amenities like outdoor pool, sauna, gym, yoga are a plus for your in between down time. They also help exchange money on site without additional fees, instead of having to go to local bank or ATM.

Good location, little older facility

Great value and decently located. The Indonesian hotel personnel were all very helpful, friendly and professional. Would upgrade shower head with a higher pressure water shower head and with water temperature control that better adjusts water temperature.

The hotel is fully renovated, very clean. All the staff is well trained, polite and friendly.

Hotel was nice, room was big but strangely under furnished. Felt like an American Embassy suites. Convenient 7/11 in hotel, lost of shopping/ Breeze mall next door but it's not the major shopping location meaning Taipei 101 area and Xinmending area. But the food court in mall was good. I don't think I would stay here again just based on location.

Nice size rooms with double king beds and space for a dining table. Nice to have a pool for the kids as well. Nice shopping in the surrounding area. Even the 7-11 connected to the hotel is convenient for quick breakfast items each morning for the family.

Phenomenol service! I am so grateful- on our last day we lost cell phone in a taxi. We do not speak mandarin and the concierge and front desk were able to retrieve the phone from a taxi/uber. I highly recommend their facility. I like the modern looking rooms. Top notch service- everyone greeted us daily from the front desk to the bell boy. There was also an easy self check in and check out counter. We will return and stay again.

I stayed here for 4 nights for concerts at Taipei Arena. The location was great. Also, I arrived earlier than the check-in time, so I was able to get into my room early and do some sightseeing,which was great. Thank you!

We flew in from US and got to the hotel at 6am. The staff was so nice, they gave us a room for early check in without any extra charge so that we can get a few more hours of extra sleep. Thank you!!

I had a great stay at Illume Taipei. From check-in to check-out the staff was very nice and helpful. The interior is a bit old, but they have maintained it well and keep it clean so it still looks nice. There is a convenience store in the 1st floor that is open 24/7. There is also a commercial gym on the 1st floor that is free for guests to use. There is a pool and some saunas on the 5th floor. The state of these did not look the best, but they are good enough. I did not try the restaurant so I can not comment on this. However, I did notice a lot of people came here during the lunch buffet, so I guess the food is nice. The hotel is close to both the metro station and several bus stops, so it is easy to get around.
