Convenient location very close to TePapa

Handy central city - tidy and generous room with nice layout

Disappointment is a nice way of putting my stay at U Residence, Wellington. Online it says the hotel is 4 stars that unfortunately is a joke. Let’s start dishwasher doesn’t work, smoke butts and ash tray on balcony, no pen or paper to write on. Couldn’t connect to the wifi. One rubbish bin that was the size of a peg basket and no refil rubbish liners for when full. No soap. No vacuum cleaner, had a washing machine but no instructions or powder and no line to put clothes on. The shower bottom was uneven and slippery, my 70 yr old dad whom I stayed with slipped over while getting in. Also says pet friendly, no where for your pet to get outside no courtyard had to walk over 1 km for my service dog to wee each time. No stairs to access only a dirty lift. The doors are difficult to unlock and heavy. I was told the hotel had limited parking so asked as a disabled person for parking and the hotel has actually no parking at all it’s inside a shared building. We checked out at 7:30am because of all these factors it was an awful nights stay. I really am wanting a refund because it ruined our entire trip to Wellington and was not worth the money spent. It felt more like a brothel than anything else. I found it hard to give it 1 star. Very misleading online. Also said has sound proof walls that’s not true we could here everyone come and go and both sides of our room shower and use the toilet. Toilet paper was 1 ply but so thin you couldn’t even get it off the roll properly. Refund pleas!

I found it disappointing. It is more like an AirBnB than a hotel. I wanted interaction, someone to recommend restaurants, arrange a taxi, etc. Instead I got a ‘contactless’ reception - otherwise known as a key lock box !!! Disappointing. If you want a hotel with staff, book somewhere else.

Was rear to stay close to ferry terminal for early sailing in morning. Also having no time pressure arriving to get key great for travel.

Perfect location for Wellington sightseeing - next to new convention centre, 2 minutes walk to Te Papa and the waterfront, 3 minutes walk to nightlife in Courtenay Place

Great location for Te Papa, Michael Fowler Centre & the New Convention Centre. Comfortable room with kitchen, close to supermarket if you want to supply your own food. Good blackout curtains, bed comfortable but would have preferred a King (there is plenty of room for one). Air Con for heating works well. Watch out for the small lip when getting into shower. Nespresso coffee machine down the hall very handy. Doesn't have Sky TV NZ but its still a good smart TV. Just remember this is a single floor hotel with no reception sk you cant leave your bags there early or after checking out. Te Papa Museum has pay for bag lockers until 6pm. Slightly cheaper than near by hotels.

Was a bit difficult to check in as I arrived late. I did not have internet with me so I had to ask a passer by to help me ring the manager. It took some time to do this and was stressful. The property itself is situated very conveniently, though my room was a bit outdated and dark. Washing machine is great and I appreciate having this feature.

Everything is fine; A dishwasher and a laundry machine are equipped in the room and powder is supplied. A fire evacuation drill was held during our stay; It showed this hotel was reliable.

Like the freedom in the apartment, instand heater. It will be perfect if the property can orivide free parking for the guests. 😀

Great location, spacious & tidy.

I never post reviews, even if I've had a bad experience, but making an exception. Room seemed ok at first but the bed completely fell apart as soon as I laid down. Has wooden slats which I tried to fix but the attachments were broken so it kept falling apart. Ended up pulling the mattress off and sleeping on the floor. Everything is contactless, including check-in, so no one to contact. Ran into to the manager the next morning who was apologetic but refused to even provide a partial refund. Hotels.com was not at all helpful and simply said there's nothing they could do if the manager refused. At the least, hotels.com should be able to confirm that basic features, like safe hotel beds, are available in the hotels they have on their site.

Nice very central to the city , although the shower is really bad , no pressure and very hard to set the correct temperature

I arrived after hours and couldn’t get into the building. There is no lobby and the room manager was not answering. I had to make a few calls to get the code into the building. Key was left in a lock box. I had booked the room specifically for the washer and dryer. The washer wasn’t working and the dryer didn’t dry the cloth. Bad experience, don’t stay there!

Central and close to all the shopping, food places and transport e.g. buses, that we needed. Also very close to Te Papa and waterfront which were places we wanted to visit. Small room but had what we needed for short stay. The outdoor balcony was important to us to have small outdoor space and fresh air. Staff were helpful and friendly.

I like the idea of allowing the pet to stay in the hotel with the owner. I also liked having a complete furniture or household that i can used while staying.,😊😊😊

Lovely staff and reasonable price. Central and convenient location. Oldish property and furniture. Cleanliness can be better.

We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to the cultural museum - which by the way is a must see. We are an older couple and had a very difficult time with the contactless registration and entry. It was a frustrating start but the person in charge was helpful when we finally met him. The room itself was OK and there was plenty of space. There was a balcony but it was cold we didn't use it besides there really wasn't much of a view and there was construction going on nearby. The room was fairly clean And the amenities were nice. This was the only place though on our entire trip of 40 days where we opened the refrigerator and the milk was curdled. Not a very good attention to detail by whoever worked the room. The location was excellent. I thought the bed was super comfortable but my husband had a very hard time sleeping. We will probably look at other places next time in Wellington.

Unfortunately no teatowel to dry the dishes and the all the tea bags were wet and couldn't use them , road noise was loud but otherwise location was great

I stayed on Sunday night. 28th August. I usually stay here a lot and never had any problems but had a terrible stay. 2 large parties where happening at once out of different rooms. They were loud all night and no one did anything or even ask them to turn the volume down. I didn’t sleep at all because of the noise and it was a terrible stay.

Service from U Residence was good - after the 5 emails from Expedia! Unfortunately the car parking ticket was not there. The windows either are not sealed or need to be resealed as the wind blew straight through the whole night

Close to tepapa

Great location near Te Papa. Spacious. Some staffs were friendly and helpful. Every time I was entering or exiting the building, there were smokers by the building entrance. Air condition unit was loud. Some amenities in the room were not very clean (badly stained cup, rusty soap dispenser in the wash basin, etc) and hot water was poor in pressure. After-hour over-the-phone check-in staff was accessible and helpful. Check-out was inconvenient. Expedia website states that the reception opens at 8am but no one was available. When called the number, I was told that the reception opens at 9am and was told that reception was on the ground floor which was not the case. The reception was at the opposite end to the entrance to the hotel part of the hallway and was not sign posted well. Staff was slightly late but was very helpful and friendly.

Do not stay here!! The place is really tired and overpriced. It is advertised as having a gym but they don’t give you access to it, it’s noisy when it’s windy and the shower is either freezing or scalding hot; either option has no water pressure!!

Decent sized room, bigger than a normal hotel room, lovely balcony and very quiet. The only disappointment was the shower, it took 5 mins for it to warm up (there was a sign advising this) and only dribbled out.
