The location of the hotel is perfect, but the rooms are very small. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. However, it does not serve breakfast. Considering the amount of money you pay, it is very good.

Convenient location hotel, a few minutes walk from Shijo metro station. There are also plenty of bus stops within a few minutes walk too. The rooms are fairly standard for Japanese hotel rooms.

Very tiny room but comfortable bed. Locked windows if you are not facing street, so no fresh sir except fors little vent. Location isvery good, in walking distance to many places you want to visit.

The location was great, easy access to the train station and popular areas. Room was mostly clean and compact. Staff were friendly on check in but when we asked to leave our luggage for a couple hours before check in they just let you tag it yourself and leave it in the lobby not secured.. we were worried all day about our luggage even though we know Japan is known for being safe. There seemed to be not a lot of supervision or presence at the front desk unless you rang the bell. Also amenities that were not explained on check in we discovered ourselves based off our previous hotel.

Great and close to everything

As a hotel located in a bustling area of a famous tourist city, it's hard to understand why the front desk staff don't speak English. They solely rely on iPad translation for communication, and there's a lack of smiles with a cold and indifferent attitude. They don't offer any assistance . I won’t recommend this hotel

Great location, basic business hotel

This is a great hotel.

Room is small (as expected). They make use of the space very well. The location is great, close to all the transit lines & many food options near by.

Basic, clean, and friendly. The area has a lot of stuff to do as well.

The hotel is surrounded by great restaurants and boutiques. The hotel has cool design and uses space efficiently. There is little storage. Also, checking out late or checking in early is impossible. I found the same at my hotel in Tokyo, so these may be Japanese traits, not a quirk of this hotel.

Very nice

Very nice hotel on a side street yet right in the heart of of all the shopping and restaurants, including Terramachi and Nishiki Markets. Plus your minutes away from Pontocho and Gion. The hotel is quiet and our room very comfortable.

Pros: Very clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed, mini fridge, hot water pot, nice toiletries (and no wasteful tiny bottles). Cons: Room size was OK for one person though there was no space to keep my suitcase open and no shelves/drawers, so not good for a longer stay. Biggest complaint is that WiFi ranged from mediocre to zero and the chair was uncomfortable. It was hard to get work done.

Hotel M's Est Shijo - Karasuma, was a wonderful stay. Great location and very helpful staff. They tried their best to speak English with my partner and me and were always available to assist. The room was very clean, the bathroom was pristine, and had good water pressure. The bed was very comfortable and the A/C unit worked perfectly. The location of the hotel was amazing, just a minutes walk from Nishiki, the subway station, and numerous bus stops for easy access to the entire city.

This location was close to buses and main road for shopping like Nishiki’s Market. Room was smaller than average Japan hotel rooms. Bathroom space had just enough but nothing more. I’d say this place is good for short stays. Found the blanket had a stain under duvet cover. Interior of the room looks modern though. Customer service was ok. Overheard that they don’t call taxis.

This is a very well-localized hotel in Kyoto, within walking distance from Gion and right by the Hankyu Karasuma subway. Highly recommended!

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Within a couple of minutes walk to the metro and Nishiki Market. The staff were very welcoming and polite. The hotel and room was very clean, there were washer and dryers available which was a great bonus.
