Gerald was top notch!! He went above and beyond! Everything was as listed. We all had a lot of fun in the sun! Mother Nature decided to knock out the power our last night there and Gerald did everything he could to make us comfortable. He brought us a generator, flashlights, batteries, fans!! We would definitely stay there again!! Thank you for your hospitality!

We had no idea where Goreville, IL was when we started looking for a location for our family to get together. We wanted somewhere close for our daughters and their families and this was a 2.5 hour trip for one and a 3 hour trip for the other. (My husband and I are about 9 hours away.) This was absolutely PERFECT for our bunch! The chalet was super clean, spacious, big kitchen, 2 living areas (which was perfect since the 2-yr old went to bed way before the rest of us), a beautiful view, plenty of kayaks, and even the lily pad for the kiddos. The host was unbelievably considerate and had more than we could have ever expected—including snacks, coffee, ice, popsicles for the kids and even brought over an ice cream maker! The spot on the lake was wonderful—quiet with an inlet to explore with the kids in the kayaks. I just cannot imagine a better place we could have stayed at for our first annual family vacation. AND this is the place we will call “home” for the rest of our annual vacations. Absolutely perfect.

We were visiting the area with family for a graduation from SIU. The house worked out even better than we expected. The comfortable house, the location on the lake, and the kayaks and canoe all helped to make it a fun, memorable trip. The owners were great. Highly recommended.

Wonderful property! Don't hesitate to book! No detail is left unnoticed and there are lots of inside & outside spaces for everyone. The hosts are available if you need anything but do not interfere. One review mentioned that the house wasn't secluded enough so I'd like to note-there are neighbors but the houses are all offset to allow for privacy (plus tons of trees!). There is a great bar/restaurant a few minutes away that has Awesome food (The Cross-Eyed Bear)! We did not utilize the lake activities as the water was still chilly and our primary activity was hiking. House is conveniently located between the various hiking spots including Ferne Clyffe State Park, Giant City, Garden of the Gods, and Shawnee National Forest. Gorgeous area. Such an awesome getaway!

Eight of us came down to enjoy some of the golf courses in the area and stayed here. Wonderful location and great communication with the owners. Will be back next year..

The four of us came for the eclipse and spent four days at the property enjoying all the hiking Southern Illinois has to offer. It was the perfect location for our adventure! The view of the lake from the porches and the expanse of the property down by the water was a great feature. The kitchen was easy to maneuver, and the shower water pressure was amazing! One of the best VRBOs we have ever stayed at, and that is saying alot.

My family and I had the best time at Gerald’s Chalet on Easter weekend! We made memories that will last a lifetime. Gerald’s place on Lake Egypt is magnificent. I highly recommend staying here. Gerald was an excellent host and he even provides a lot of snacks upon arrival. My family and I had the best time Kayaking, and hanging out on the dock. I will definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our time at the chalet. Hosts were kind and wonderful. There were many extra special touches they did, and you could tell they took pride in making our stay all that it could be. We enjoyed the kayaks, nearby hiking, campfires, grilling and games available. It wasn't as secluded or woodsy as we had hoped or that I imagined from the photos in the listing, but the many houses around us were mostly vacant anyway. We had a great time at this place.

We went for thanksgiving and it was amazing! Wish we had went in the summer. Swimming would have been great. We had 10 people in our party and the house accommodated us well. Garden of the gods was an hour drive from there and we visited twice. It was beautiful waking up and drinking coffee with the wonderful view of lake Egypt. The beds ranged in firmness so there was something for everyone. Host was very nice and house was stocked and clean. Dollar store was within 15 minutes and there was an ice cream and souvenir shop close that we also visited. Great stay over all and host informed us there were upgrades coming soon.

This property was so wonderful! My sister, friend and I will be back next year! It was so cozy, clean, and relaxing. We made new memories there and decided it was such a great time that we would be back so that we can visit more locations around the area. We sat by the firepit in the evening, we did not get a chance to go Kayaking but hopefully next time we will! Gerald was such a wonderful host, very friendly and knowledgeable! I recommend this property to everyone!

Let me start by saying that this home is beautiful. It is very well decorated, has all the nicest ammenities, (beds, coffee pot, chairs, outdoor seating, stove, fridge, etc.) and we felt at home. There were special things we did not expect like snacks, coffee, and popsicles. There was a launch for kayaks if you want. I spent all day Saturday cooking on the pit. The gazebo is amazing. The owners wanted nothing more than to make sure we were happy. And it showed. Both in communication and in the small subtleties in and around the house. I could go on and on, bit I won't. Bring your family, bring a couple of friends (like I did), but stay here. Did I mention we cooked breakfast on a Blackstone, on a coverd patio, while we over looked the lake. I would like to take a moment and personally say thank you to the owners. You were great and we felt like family in your home. Thank you

This property gave us the ideal place to rest and play in a beautiful setting in a beautiful area of the state with more things to do than we had time for. The accomodations were 1st rate and exceeded all our expectations. Wouldn't think twice to return.

Gerald was a great host who demonstrated exceptional care in preparing to ensure that guests have a quality experience. The towel warmers, available snacks, and overall attention to detail serve as evidence of his hosting excellence. The property is well maintained and in a beautiful location. Had a wonderful time! Plenty of room and you took care of every comfort and amenity item that we could possibly need during our stay. Gave us lots of info up front and tips on local boat rental, which we did rent a pontoon and had a wonderful day out on Lake of Egypt! I will give the location, property, and host 5-star ratings and we will definitely save this in our trips folder for the future.

Very nice house, perfectly clean, lots of nice amenities. Owner has a nice attention to detail and those extras much appreciated. Very approachable folks! We had our two adult Grandsons join us, everyone was comfortable.

We had an exceptional stay and only wished we could have stayed longer. It was apparent that the host truly values providing an excellent experience and to that end has provided everything needed for a fun and comfortable stay. Everything was pristine as if new. We appreciated great and prompt communication from the host who made himself available but was never intrusive. We hope to return soon!

My family and I stayed at the Eagle’s Nest Chalet over Labor Day weekend as a last hurrah for the summer and had a wonderful time. Gerald is an excellent host, thoroughly communicating everything we needed to know to make for a perfect weekend. The property itself is beautiful and exceeded all of our expectations. Plenty of room for the eleven of us and tons of privacy from the neighboring properties. You’re peacefully surrounded by trees, with only a view of the lake. The amenities were a huge plus too. We had a great time kayaking, canoeing, and swimming off the dock. We could not have asked for a better setting to close out the summer with family. Thanks Gerald!

I came with my husband and friend for my 1 year anniversary and birthday. It was such a relaxing weekend and the place was beautiful. Gerald and Cindy were amazing hosts.

My wife and I met up with 4 friends from college. Gerald was a great host. He provided information on the wineries and hiking trails nearby. We enjoyed the lake and rented a pontoon boat one day which was delivered to and picked up from Gerald’s dock. Great experience overall.

Can’t say enough wonderful things about this place!! Our 2nd time visiting and we fell even more in love with it. Jerry & Larry are fantastic! Every detail has been thought of! Perfect place to relax and enjoy the lake life! Our family is already talking about next time!

The chalet is a great place to stay. Everything that is needed and more - knives that are sharp, towel warmers, snacks, games , kayaks and so much more. Gerald is so welcoming and Larry was so helpful. Getting kayaks in the lake for us, preparing the fire pit and offering to help us with luggage. We can’t wait to go back again. Highly recommended!

It is a nice, cute, clean lake house! We had a great stay! Lots of stuff in the house for your stay like plates, dishes, pots, pans, towels, games, and helpful and convient complimentary items. Nice place

We had 4 adults & 3 children spend 6 nights at the Eagle Chalet. Communication was excellent from the owner Gerald & contractor Larry. Larry oriented us to the property including the dock. He helped my husband access the boat ramp so he could dock it. The grandchildren ages 5-14 had a blast swimming, paddle board & kayaking. We used the fire pit but missed out on the silo fire pt because the days were so full. Gerald let us know of restaurants accessible by boat. We utilized the kitchen & grill with all we needed - I had brought several items as with past experiences elsewhere had identified needs but did not need to. The location is close enough to also do other things with great parks. Great place with Gerald & Larry very accommodating for any needs!!

We were the very first guests to stay at this location in 2022. We loved coming back to see the many more changes and additions to the property. The owner and the team who takes care of this property always strive to keep making this place the best on the lake to stay at. Job well done guys. We will be back for sure.
