the only slight quibble, was they told me on checking out that there was a discretionary service charge. I think they should warn people upfront.

Room was facing a a wall I felt like cattle class, Shower was mouldy round the drain. I am a frequent traveller and have stayed in better hotels and received better service, I was charged 2 different prices for the exact same continental breakfast we had on both days, then refunded something I don't even know what because it was not discussed properly and made no sense on paper they basically just take what they want, not even worth the argument. Blonde lady at breakfast was rude and I know she overcharged us but no body was listening, they take your money before you can go through the bill with them I like to know what I am paying for.

It is the second time I have booked with Booking .com and been left staring at a wall for 2 days, Make it clear that without an upgrade in London you are looking at cattle class. I suspect it's the same as having a voucher in a restaurant They hate you and you don't seem to be worth the time. I used to be in hospitality so I know how it works.

The room generally was in very good order. The complimentary tea and coffee were varied. There was plenty of storage space for a short stay. The room temperature was very good.

The view from the window faced a wall. As the bottles were poured into the recycling bin we could hear them from within our room. There was no place to hang your clothes when you were in the bathroom. More signs to reception would have been a good idea. Labling the lift button with reception is another option…

The hotel was excellently situated and the staff we interacted with were very good.

This hotel is trying to achieve high end status, but misses out on the final 15% to 20% of achieving this. For example, I had to return my breakfast on Saturday twice for the same issue and this meant I changed my breakfast choice as I did not want a third repeat of the issue. In the spa, the bikes are not suitable for non-expert exercise people, and the sauna was not effective as it was a set temperature rather than having a steamer that could be used with water to heat the room, I found the sauna colder than I prefer. However the Hot tub and Steam room were excellent.
