Breakfast was good. The bar was very nice. Location was excellent! The staff was fantastic!

Room service was hard to reach. The phone just rang and rang. Nobody ever answered.

A good location in Edinburgh New Town. A fine building. The staff were professional pleasant and very well mannered. Excellent breakfast. Not a stuffy hotel but relaxing.

Breakfast was a little disappointing. The music was loud and incessant and I question whether there needs to be any. The member of staff greeting guests for breakfast conveyed a sense of panic and this is a perfect example of the need for more haste and less speed - he exuded stress rather than calmness which at breakfast guests are looking for.

The location

Had to change room due to needing a floor level shower which I had booked but given a shower over a bath. Took reception 35 minutes to decide if we can have a change of room. The shower then flooded the bathroom floor! The room was very dark little light, put makeup in bathroom with flooded floor. Noise from rubbish, glasses being disposed of most of the night and early morning. Coke in the room no bottle opener. Requested more water did not arrive also requested bath towels which took 40 minutes to arrive.

The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable too!

Some of the breakfast service was slow and there was little sound proofing between rooms so you could hear the TV and conversation of those next door.

Het ontbijt leek in eerste instantie wat mager in de buffetvorm voor dit klasse hotel. Later bleek dat op verzoek ook ontbijt werd gemaakt in de keuken. De badkamer is relatief klein.

Stayed with bed and breakfast, breakfast was very good and plenty of choice.

Customised system on the LGTV didn't work, most of the children's TV channels bar tiny-pop didn't load, and the system to connect your phone using a URL (or the same via qr code) failed to resolve whilst on the hotel WiFi. The windows didn't do much to block sound, waking us at 4am to drunk students wondering down the back road shouting at each other.

Excelente habitación, me encantó el desayuno en la habitación. El personal muy amable, quiero destacar a Hal, quien fue muy atento en todo momento y también me ayudó con una situación personal, estoy muy agradecida. Además al llegar a la habitación había una notita de bienvenida del Manager on Dutty con un pequeño presente. Lo cual fue un detalle maravilloso. Hotel bellísimo, vale cada dolar pagado.

La cama me pareció un poco dura, pero eso generalmente es tema de gustos. Y lo otro es que la ubicación es buena, pero al no encontrarse en la Royal Mille debíamos coger taxi diariamente, ya que hay una subida muy pronunciada para llegar allá caminando (no apta para enfermos cardíacos) Si te gusta caminar o hacer ejercicio, está perfecta la ubicación.

Beautiful room, spacious, excellent location and staff were very helpful. Even when I needed some extras that I'd forgotten, they were happy to help. The hotel manager was also extremely helpful.

I pre-paid with Booking.com, hotel didn't receive the payment through their own system, resulting in me being double charged and a bit of a stressful experience getting the money back, however, the hotel manager also gave me goodwill which I thought was very kind and would encourage me to return despite a payment system issue

Great location. Close to the Castle and the Royal Mile. Breakfast was excellent. Well stocked with tea, coffee, etc.

The bar was adequate but overall disappointing. Bathroom was very small and difficult to move around. There was blood on one of the pillows when we moved in that stayed there for another night so clearly linens were not refreshed.

Ideally situated

We had a king premium room which backed on to an alley where glass bottles were being thrown in the trash at ridiculous hours during the night and from 6am, absolutely awful.

There was a great Selection for breakfast Continental choice was great to all lovely fresh fruit Great breakfast 👍

This is my 3rd year stay and was very disappointed my daughter sister and niece stayed over and we were just back to the hotel from Xmas shopping and a complaint went in for noise which was ridiculous we were chatting laughing I couldn’t believe someone would complain we did go down to reception to raise our concern I don’t think I will be back lady on desk took my email address but still haven’t heard from hotel

Decorated beautifully for Christmas, great location. Warm and comfortable as it was freezing!

There was nothing to dislike about the property.

Beautiful historic building, restored beautifully inside and out. The service is 5* and you are looked after from walking through the front door, which is opened for you to the moment you leave. Attention to detail is phenomenal.

My only wee grumble would have been breakfast. It would have been better for a menu for individual cooked dishes on the table, we hadn’t realised there was a choice other than the buffet breakfast, which was still very good I may add. We had a vegetarian in the party and would have been better to had the choice of more that was on offer at the buffet. The filter coffee was weak, however upon asking we were promptly brought an Americano.

However, the room was tiny and we were woken up by the fire alarm that went off twice at 1am and our room was next to the storage cupboard and this kept waking us up in the morning. When speaking to the staff about this on check out, they didn’t seem to care and didn’t say sorry or anything.. poor service and a bad nights sleep!

Room was up a lift then down a lift so just better to be on one floor

There was a good breakfast choice, the location was central and the hotel was very clean. But that's where the positives end.

There was no mini bar in the room, the decor was tired, the bathroom was ridiculously small, we were asked to leave the bar at midnight on our first night, mattress toppers really thin. Overall poor value for money. The evacuation of the hotel in the middle of the night for a false fire alarm summed up our stay. Won't be back.

Lovely room, very clean, staff very helpful. Great location. Breakfast lovely and buffet items hot but no mention or offer if items cooked to order like eggs,so only had option of scrambled on the buffet.
