- The option to choose a hot meal from the menu at breakfast.
- Excellent location – next to the city center, with many restaurants, shops, and pubs nearby; additionally, it's a 5-8 -minute walk to the train station, with convenient access from the airport. It's also close to Etihad Stadium, you can walk by foot. Also taxis are in front of the hotel's door.
- Very comfortable bed.
- Very old decor, the hotel needs renovation, and many things either didn't work or were worn out by time.
- It was quite noisy outside the window due to the pub located there.
- Very poor Wi-Fi that kept disconnecting, regardless of whether I was near the router on the patio by the reception or in the room. If someone wants to work or use the internet freely via Wi-Fi, this hotel is not suitable. Additionally, there are major issues with Wi-Fi access in the area; in all nearby restaurants and cafes, the Wi-Fi was very weak, even though I had the latest equipment.

good location, friendly staff, clean and really good breakfast
was a bit pricey for one nights stay
3.4
Good location, nice breakfast
Room was dated, receptionist was rude when we checked in
3.4
Facilities were adequate
Lack of fresh air into room on a very hot couple of nights.
3.4
Location very central. Breakfast was well cooked.
Place dated and in need of updating and thorough cleaning of communal areas. Lift unclean and corridors smelling musty and creaky floorboards.
Room had small window.
Breakfast choice limited
Rooms pictured on website are ‘executive rooms’ and weren’t comparable to our experience in any way.
3.4
Location is very good. Central and close to most sites, including the train station. Breakfast was ok.
Only one wall socket available for two guests, so not that ideal. Room wasn't clean (furniture was dusty) and the carpets were getting torn.
3.4
Lovely room after being given an upgrade as first room was grim
Fried breakfast was a bit fatty

This hotel proves that you should "not judge a book by its cover"!
If I had not booked in advance via Booking.com, I would never have chosen this hotel, but once you get inside you get so surprised in the most positive way - and this goes for reception, room and staff!
At this price, it is EXCELENT value for money.
There are only two things which are not "top notch" at "The Gardens Hotel":
1) WiFi
The free WiFi gave a lot of challenges, it was very difficulty to log-on, it was unstable and quite slow - this should be upgraded!
2) Parking, drop-off and pick-up.
In all the area, there is double yellow lines (no stopping for drop-off and pick-up) and parking is quite a walk away and rather expensive. Expect to walk quite a bit with your luggage when you arrive and depart.

staff was polite and helpful. Spacious room! functioning lift.
for some reason the electricity switch tripped around 12 midnight, I was in total darkness. I assumed that there was a city-wide black out so I didn't think much of it, I was also tired and i wanted to sleep, thinking that it would all be resolved by morning. To my dismay, I still had no electricity, so I rang up the reception and a maintenance lad was sent to my room, I was informed that the main switch tripped; so problem solved. They made it up for me by waiving the concierge fee when I left my bags during check-out for some city sightings.

Location
Noise from the cleaners @6.30 am chatting
3.4
The location was ideal, as it was close to the train station and shops.
The noise from the street was really bad. The walls in the room were thin, and you could hear everything that was being said in the joining rooms. Which went on until 2.30 am, until I banged on the wall. Bins were being emptied at 6am, and street cleaners were driving up and down under our window. Sleep was impossible. The radiators were on full and couldn't be turned down. It was red hot and uncomfortable. The shower was either freezing or scolding hot.

Location
Rooms very dated and damp and in need of repair . Windows need a good clean , Smelly corridors, . In my opinion not worth the £105 paid. Photos on booking.com do not match the room we had
3.4
Great location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
Quite noisy with slamming doors, tired decor.

Staff where friendly
The room we had was nothing like the pictures it was horrid dated scruffy very disappointed

Great, central location and only a few minutes' walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station and opposite Piccadilly Gardens and a five minute' walk to the Arndale Centre. Buses and Trams within a couple of minutes' walk. Warm welcome from staff, spacious, comfortable room with king-sized bed, tea and coffee making facility and extra pillows, hairdryer etc. Good value cooked breakfast and good buffet with friendly and helpful staff. Small bar available and comfortable lounge. Very reasonably priced charge to leave bags for our last day - only £5.00 for everything. We would definitely come back to the Gardens Hotel again.
Our only issue was the difficulty adjusting the water for the shower. The hot water is scalding hot - and the shower head leaked so it was a mission to adjust the temperature. There is a warning sticker on the bathroom mirror, but nothing in the shower and we did feel the water temperature does need attention. Other than this we highly recommend the hotel for travellers on a budget who just want a clean place with a good breakfast, to sleep in between sightseeing.

Walking into the hotel smelt disgusting. The room was absolutely covered with dust and mould. Was absolutely disgusting. Would not stay here or recommend. Full refund requested.

The room was very hot throughout the night.

Location
Was not how it looked in pictures. Room felt dirty. Was waken up very early to banging and someone hoovering right outside our door. Lift was not working so had to keep walking up 5 flights of stairs
3.4
Very clean hotel with friendly staff. Comfy beds and not too noisy even with how central it is.
1st floor smelt like weed
3.4
I stop here all the time nice place to stray
The staff always go they little bit extra for you
3.4
Despite the location in the center, it was quiet. But the noises inside the hotel itself in the corridor were audible. Having a kettle is good!
It's time to make a faucet in the bathroom.
3.4
Location
The cleanliness, the mattress, the smell and the overall facilities
3.4
Was scary, very old , lift did not work. I never had a worst room in England
Staff was nice
3.4
Great location nice area
Not enough plug sockets and very warm in rooms
3.4
The welcome we got from the front-desk staff was brilliant. Friendly, helpful, keen to make sure we had what we needed to enjoy our stay. We had a windowless room, which we had chosen on booking for cost-saving reasons. We were expecting the worst, but it was actually really nice, clean and well-appointed with tea and coffee facilities and a good size shower/bathroom.
It is an astonishingly central location - which is fantastic, but also inevitably means that there's a lot of 'life' going on in the immediate surroundings. The front doorway was a bit hairy coming in (people slumped in it) but once you're in, it feels safe and secure.
3.4
- Beds were nice and soft - easier to sleep on
- Showers were easy to use
- Not many plug sockets to charge electronics
3.4
Good location, reception area, breakfast was good. Friendly service. Beds are comfortable. Bathroom is nice and clean
Room deco is dated, carpets are stained and probably need replacing.
3.4
Very nice rooms and friendly service
3.4
Location and staff were fine.
We were in a twin room with no window the room was small and would be better described as a single room.
The fan was noisy and really only blew warm air around the room.
The room was uncomfortably warm
and in need of some decoration
I have been going to Manchester 5 or six times a year for the last 40 years and this was my worst experience
3.4
The location was Ideal four the event I was attending.
The room was close to theology and we could hear it when it was active
3.4
THE ROOM HAD NO WINDOWS OR MECHANICAL VENTILATION. IT WAS DAMP, DIFFICULT TO BREATHE, AND EXTREMELY WARM. THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING OR VENTILATION. THE BED WAS OLD, THE SPRINGS COULD BE FELT ON ONE'S BACK. THE SHOWER WAS OUT OF ORDER. IT WAS OVERALL FILTHY. THE STAY WAS SO BAD THAT WE LEFT AFTER THE FIRST NIGHT, NOT COMPLETING OUR BOOKED 2-NIGHTS.
3.4
The strategic location of the hotel
Some of the facilities like the boilers/heaters need maintenance.
