Absolutely beautiful furnishings and decor. Bus stop across street.

Beautiful old building. Great area. Rooms were quite nice and clean. Just no staff were ever present in our three night stay. An elderly couple who couldn’t speak English sat in the front lobby, often. I’m not sure if they worked there cleaning rooms or were a guest but if the worked there they made no attempt to communicate or help out, which was an issue because the front door to the building on a busy street was always left open

Large rooms! Convenient for dining and pubs. Friendly staff.

The proprty was lovely inside & out. The room we had for 3 of us was beautiful and clean and we will be coming back next year. Thsnk you

1. Care taker, was not able to speak English. He spoke to me in a Chinese language. 2. Care taker was quite intimidating towards me. 3. I had a rat in my wall which was scratching both nights. Audio recording available. 4. Someone entered my room during the day but only emptied my waste and left it on the floor (see photo)

Unable to speak with any staff. Especially for directions and possible assistance with general information.

It served our needs. We got a good nights rest and the beds were very comfortable. Wish there was better parking but we made do. Signage was hard to locate as the sign was in green and writing in gold and hard to see. Maybe sign needed to be bigger or backlit too. We will be staying here again in a week so now we will know where it is!

Very clean but needed a couple of basic things. Such as shelf in bathroom. Mirror in bedroom

Great for what I was looking for - an overnight stay within walking distance of Napier Merchiston campus, but I would have loved to have had breakfast as an option.

Quiet, not too close but not too far from the 'Royal Mile'.

Very Affordable and Convenient

I enjoyed my stay at the Alexander guest house. For a cheap price for 2 nights in Edinburgh city, this was a perfect place to stay. The owner was friendly and helped with any issues I encountered. The other staff was also extremely helpful and helped me get back into my room after i locked my key inside in the middle of the night

I loved this hotel, highly recommended, I would stay there again on another occasion.

Doors locked at check, 3 phone numbers to try, third I got a response, from a lady driving who said she would contact reception. Lady came then to let us in. Cobwebs in room. Not so cheap, but cheerful and convenient.

The property was very clean and beds were quite comfy. Very easy to get into the city centre with direct buses nearby. The only complaint was in our room the frame of the bed looked half finished and we were unable to find a switch for the side lamps.

After reading some mixed reviews of this place my expectations were quite low but I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. The room was quite nice, with high ceilings and plenty of natural light that made it feel spacious. The neighborhood was convenient and safe and overall we were really happy with our stay.

Can’t fault this place, absolutely immaculate. Looks as if it’s going through some building works so don’t let the scaffolding put you off. Lady very friendly at check in and explained everything. Hotel not far from City centre on major bus route or short taxi journey

It was clean and comfortable, but I had trouble using the free Wi-Fi, even though it said it was available.

This guest house is fine for backpackers and folks on a tight budget. Air B&B style entry (room key in lockbox, get code via talking to someone on a ring camera). My room had only a single bed (as opposed to the double on the hotels.com description) The facilities were not ensuite - there is a shared shower and toilet for all the rooms on the floor. I didn't know how to get internet as I didn't think any staff were on the premises. So I did *not* stay the night, I dropped my key into the express checkout and booked myself into a local hotel (Novotel) instead. The parts I did see were nicely decorated and clean tho. Enjoy it if you are into this style. I like to have a bigger bed and my own shower.

Clean and efficient

Overall good hotel .but no breakfast in the morning.
