Very clean. Some door & lift noise overnight. Hot running water was a little sketchy. Breakfast buffet was bountious.
4.1
Considering how much of a rip off every other type of accommodation is in Edinburgh, this was a good deal. The breakfast was superb; better than most expensive hotels!
4.1
The premise provides a relatively economical accommodation option in Edinburgh. While it is not particularly close to the prime areas, there is good access to public transport, enabling us to explore the city easily. Room is a bit small but sufficient for a short stay. Breakfast is fantastic with loads of options.
4.1
Great use of the Halls outside of term time!!
Pillows could have been better!!
4.1
Comfortable stay, the room wasn't in the best condition however what can you expect for a student hall. Very happy over all, would stay again.
4.1
Staff friendly, helpful and responsive.
Room and facilities clean.
Parking secure and convenient.
Breakfast convenient and plentiful, great to have so many options, including traditional Scottish. Canteen style works for the setting.
Rooms basic but as expected, as is the overall stay.
Would stay here again for the value and practically.
4.1
Nice big breakfast buffet and checking was very quick even though it was at a time when a lot of students were checking in for the school year. Considering it was just days before classes it was quite quiet all day and night.
4.1
A standard private dorm room set up w/ a bit of wear & tear & a fiddly door lock, but clean & comfortable. A sink in the room was a plus, as were the multiple shower/bathrooms available on the floor. The 24 hr front desk staff were always very helpful & friendly, the luggage storage convenient. The included breakfast was great with lots of choice.
The grounds were lovely & well tended, & the view of Arthur’s Seat & Salisbury Crags in Holyrood Park (only a 10 min walk away), was exceptional.
There were several Fringe venues in easy walking distance, & bus stops close if needed.
Would definitely book here again in the future as it was perfect for my Fringe Festival attending needs.

Very large area, huge selection in breakfast. Location is very convenient.

My only complaint is about the room. All other aspects were good especially the breakfast. The beds were clean and comfortable the bathroom was clean but the shower cubicle was poorly maintained. The carpets were just filthy and unhoovered with food under the bed. For the price we paid I was not happy

loved the location, walking distance to the city, and at the base of Arthurs seat
good breakfast
4.1
Great basic accommodation at a great price including a great breakfast.
4.1
The room was basic but did have an en-suite. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. I would stay here again if I am in Edinburgh.
4.1
Excellent facilities at Pollock Halls, decent room, great breakfast and walkable to Fringe venues. Check-in staff were very helpful and friendly and express checkout services were offered.
4.1
Friendly environment, very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was very rich. The room was good, but clearly it was normally used by students (e.g. chair upholstery was dirty). If I have the chance, I will definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.
4.1
Check in staff were excellent. Room was dirty (coffee and tea set up-spoons and cups dirty), table surfaces, floors, sinks not clean. Tiles off in shower and drain plugged which lead to near flood of room as shower floor is continues with entire bathroom floor.
4.1
It was a unique experience. We liked the dining hall. The elevator in our building didn’t work from the ground floor so we had to walk up a flight of stairs to take the elevator. Parking is extremely limited.
4.1
Great place, but on 4th floor and elevator broken. Staff is lovely and helpful
4.1
It was exactly as advertised. I think it’s the best area of city to stay in. So close to Holyrood Park and King Arthur’s seat. Excellent running, walking, and cycling. Absolutely no need for a car - we walked everywhere to see the sights and dine. The breakfasts provided covered all bases - vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores will all be well fed! We would definitely stay here again.

Nice and clean

Stayed one night in a twin room. Good for short stay relatively near to centre with plentiful buffet breakfast - but room was quite small with basic facilities (e.g. no hair dryer, and a very small TV, the remote to which didn't work) and views of tall nettles from the window.

They double charged me for a 1 night stay. I’m extremely unhappy about it. The toilet had a leak.
4.1
I did the 5km Holyrood Parkrun and its just a 20 min walk to the start line. The breakfast is fantastic! Beautiful area.

We enjoyed our stay.

Great price, great location and perfect for our friends reunion.

Location good, breakfast v.good
4.1
Positives: very friendly and helpful staff, nice convenient location and superb breakfast.
Negatives: overpriced for the comfort level as for example the room was too hot (no AC) and micro TV. I understand this is a students accommodation but perhaps they could provide at least a fan.
It wasn’t easy to find the check-in facility as address provided on Hotels.com takes you to the opposite side of the campus and there are no direction signs - not ideal if you arrive at night time.

The property had a full cafeteria style breakfast, served from 7:30-10, which we really enjoyed. It was inexpensive compared to hotel accommodations, clean and comfortable. Buses were easy to get to and we were able to make our way around the city easily from here. We also walked to Holyrood House, which was an easy 25 minutes away.
4.1
Fantastic breakfast, great choice and freshly made. Rooms were comfortable enough.
4.1
Very reasonably priced
Lovely staff

We had a most enjoyable stay. As 2 elderly ladies we wondered if we would fit in but no problems. The site is very attractive and the staff so friendly and helpful. Top marks all round!

Great place to stay
4.1
The property is situated in a great location for walking around the city. The trails to get to Arthur's Seat is right behind the buildings and access is incredibly easy. It is also about a 15 minute walk to the Royal Mile with plenty of shopping and dining options. The room was decent, the beds were not very comfortable, but the price was great! The breakfast in the cafeteria was good but very busy as it is a university, but you could get as much food as you wanted. Overall, nice stay.

Great for fringe and festival
4.1
I made two separate bookings for exactly the same type of room but was advised by two different staff members that they couldn’t be combined and was forced to check out and back in. This was hugely inconvenient and the excuse offered was that they were very busy with the Edinburgh Fringe.
The accommodation itself is arguably overpriced for what it is. Some of it could do with a thorough clean in places.
Although free, breakfast is ok quality. Think powdered scrambled egg, sausages that have barely been browned and awful coffee.
4.1
Stayed here before when visiting the Edinburgh Festivals and have always enjoyed the relaxed, yet efficient, way this place is run. Great breakfasts, well-kept rooms and gardens and friendliness from all the team on site, which normally houses students during term-time. Lucky them!
4.1
Bathroom not very clean and no cleaning of room in the 6 days we were there.
Sorry to find that poached eggs are no longer available at breakfast. Otherwise, breakfast very good.
4.1
Relatively cheap accomodation in Edinburgh during the festival.
4.1
For convenient access to the city centre it’s a good value option if all you want is a clean, comfortable room with good breakfast. Was expecting it to be a little noisy but surprised as very quiet.
4.1
My friend and I always stay at Pollock Halls when we attend the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It isn’t fancy but it is safe, clean and an decent breakfast buffet is included.
