Amazing place and service
4.2
The hotel has a good physical area. In general, the staff are polite, but at the Krystal Restaurant they were not at all helpful and seemed uninterested, especially the one at the reception. In addition, the food was cold and raw. Another criticism is the drinks served at the pool bars. They put a lot of ice in the drinks, so you end up drinking more ice than the drink.

It was amazing my first time in Dr. the staff is excellent and friendly . Make sure you download the riu app so your able to easily find activities, minbar refill request and other services.
4.2
Bad service at the front desk all the time
4.2
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, our room had issues. Shower handle was broken and water temperature could not regulate. Very slippery floors at the buffet.
4.2
Old furniture and water leaks in the shower and bathroom.
4.2
Terrible food and limited choices. Allowed thieves to harass people on the beaches and sell them lies. Awful lack of security!
4.2
The food was not good and there were not beverage choices. Everything in the gift shop was marked up to double the price.

My original reservations were made for this hotel, but upon arrival we were informed that the hotel was closing, and we were switched to hotel RIU Marcos, which was a much better motel, and the facilities was exactly what we pictured goodness this hotel was closing

Staff at RIU is amazing, they provide excellent service. Location is great with beautiful beach 🏝️. Property is well maintained. Food is great. Spa and wellness, very good. The only thing where I would like to see some improvements are rooms that can use some updates, bed mattresses are slightly too firm for my preference.
Overall I would recommend this property to my friends and family.

Awesome place with the nicest people ever!!

Good place but food can be better

I loved my stay in the resort but one thing that I feel that should be changed is that the massage is $80 for 25 min, that price is out of this world.

My stay at Riu was, by far, the worst resort experience I have ever had. One of the bartenders DRUGGED my friend and I at the Riu Party. About halfway through her drink, she realized something was wrong and we stopped drinking. She was sick for the next three days.
There was actual poop splattered on our bathroom door when we got there and the bed sheets smelled like mildew. The pools were filthy, and all the food was way overcooked.
On top of that, the service was terrible. The server around the pool area was rude. We waited 40 minutes for a drink IF we got our drinks at all. One day, he refused to take my friend's drink order at all.
When my friend contacted the hotel directly about how she was drugged, they told her she needed to contact Expedia, as if Expedia was responsible for their bartenders drugging guests.

Stayed at Riu Palace Bavaro for a wedding. The only positive about my stay was there were not a lot of guests so I didn’t wait long for food, the pool was relatively empty, lots of poolside chairs to choose from and the beach wasn’t crowded with people. The negatives: lack of variety in food. The buffet areas such as Taino and montecristo had the same exact food selection. The Japanese restaurant was terrible. The Italian restaurant bampolo was used for the reception site and I was expecting Italian food. Nope… food that was served at the reception was pretty much the same food at the buffets. The rooms were older, rust seen on any metal surface. My rain shower head didn’t work in the shower so only used the handheld.
Wanted to take a relaxing bath but the water was lukewarm at best and it took almost 25 minutes to fill bc the water was coming out so slowly. I turned on the jets and water flew everywhere even onto my bed. The room was spacious for one person and the fridge was well stocked so no complaints there. Pillows were flat and uncomfortable. I had to use 3 just to feel like I was actually sleeping on any and then I woke up with sore shoulders and a stiff neck. Toilets didn’t flush well, had to stand holding the flush button down until everything actually flushed down. The pool area was decent, beach was nice. Ordered some pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris and they were gross I couldn’t drink them. This is my second time staying at a Riu resort. Never again.

Beautiful property but could be a 5 star if the following wasn’t a problem….the rooms are uncomfortable, it gives motel vibes. The sheets & blanket are very uncomfortable. My sheets were not clean when I arrived and I had them change them and it was slightly cleaner but not entirely. My room overall was not ever cleaned properly. There is so much rust in the room especially the toilet and in the shower. They obviously don’t clean the walls, dressers. etc. the staff is uncomfortably flirty, they make passes at you all day. Cleanliness is priority and comfort and I felt neither.

Excellent

The property was nice. Staff was kind of you were tipping. Also pharmacy in the property be careful they try to over charge you and then insult you in Spanish if you don’t buy. If you are Spanish they treat you completely different.
4.2
The staff have been drugging peoples drinks.

Great all inclusive experience

My room was beautiful however it was not cleaned. There were old wash clothes laying around in the bathroom. The towels and Bath robes had a stale smell to it as if it was not washed. When I needed additional wash cloths I had to wait for a hour. While I was not in my room at night, staff was keying into my room. Security at the front gate was very rude, verbally agressive, and touched me and my personal belongings . Then I was denied of gaining entry onto the property as I was told that I dont belong on this resort even though I had my Riu bracelet on. I had a Jaccuzi in my room and it was not clean. There was rust areas around the knobs. Overall the room was not clean and secuirty at the front gate was racist and aggressive.

The property was clean and beautiful. The food choice for buffet at Montecristo had a great selection of items. My wife and I enjoyed the Italian restaurant. The rooms need updating but was sufficient and comfortable. The staff was accommodating and helped with addressing our questions. At first we requested room away from construction to have enjoyable vacation, happily we arrived early for front desk to give us options for room to consider. Definitely appreciated the resort and staff, majority of staff was nice. Only negative was navigating to water park with no signs but luckily we got their safely and had fun. My 9 month old daughter and I enjoyed the night time entertainment on stage. Will recommended others to the property

Changed rooms multiple times. Issues included rusted, leaking refrigerators and leaks on the floor, blood stains on the sheets, water leaking from the ceiling, cockroaches in the room . Some staff was unapologetic , and often rude. Food was mediocre (3of us got sick). Elevators broke, power went out . Worst of all, Riu will not address any of the issues we had and continue to pass all blame onto Expedia . Expedia claims the hotel is unresponsive. Will be my absolute last time booking trips with either company!!!!

great place

The staff is not friendly, not helpful. On my last day I asked for 2 dry towels for shower, the ones I had in my room were wet, they said NO. I and my husband were very upset.

Beautiful resort. The 2 hour power outage was unfortunate but other than that it was wonderful.

We have stayed at multiple all inclusive resorts in the past and we weren’t always thrilled with them, BUT this one, this one was great
Starting with christian at the front desk making check in an easy process with explaining all of the amenities, he was by far the best check in experience we’ve had at any hotel/resort
Next up was Emilio at la fiesta bar, he was a great bartender and a great person in general, really enjoyed drinking there and getting to talk with him, he was super friendly with all the guests including the kids, he has a great memory in which people get served first (first come first serve) he would great everyone as they approached the bar and take there orders while still making other drinks for the people before them, just absolutely doing a great job there
Then we have Annie who was a server at Montecristo and it had seemed like she had one job which was to make sure people felt at home, she remembered where we liked to sit and as soon as she saw us she would greet us and ask us if we wanted our usual spot and usual drinks, drink was empty and she was right on top of it, she was a sweetheart and you can tell she really likes her job and does a really good job doing it, she made us feel like we were family
Then at the pool bar there’s a guy named Daren, not sure what to say about Daren, Daren has motivation to work and to hustle, at some points he was the only one serving drinks to 20 people without missing a beat, he deserves a raise

Staff and people are 10 star!

Awesome time, staff was good

Most resorts would upgrade the rooms for free for a birthday. This one, we were asked for $100 cash on the side and then asked to fill out a form which looked like they could have comped the upgrade but chose to profit off of it instead. I have to admit we thought we paid for the Macao resort. Disappointed that even after paying $100 for the upgrade, our room reeked of mold. The quality of the food was not great. They also charged for drinks at the club. The staff kept the rooms cleaned but we couldn’t get over the mold. Not a terrible experience but not up to par. You get what you pay for I guess I can say.

We were only at this property for approximately seven hours we took a brief nap when we arrived at the resort. We then went to have lunch when my wife realized she had been bitten by bed bugs.
